ROAD CLOSURES S U N DAY 29 MAY & M O N DAY 3 0 MAY 2016 THE 2016 VITALITY WESTMINSTER MILE & VITALITY LONDON 10,000 ROAD CLOSURE INFORMATION PLEASE READ THIS LEAFLET CAREFULLY ROAD CLOSURE INFORMATION Holborn On Sunday 29 May and Bank Holiday Monday 30 May 2016 the Vitality Westminster Mile and the Vitality London 10,000 running events will take place in the City of Westminster and the London Borough of Camden. These events will involve closing roads to traffic in central London. On Sunday 29 May the Vitality Westminster Mile will take place on closed roads around St James’s Park only. Covent Garden On Monday 30 May the Vitality London 10,000 running event will take place in the City of Westminster, City of London and the London Borough of Camden. There will be no re-opening of Park roads between this event and the Vitality Westminster Mile and London 10,000 events. The following roads in Westminster and the City of London will close from 08:00-14:00: Whitehall, The Strand, Aldwych, Chancery Lane, Holborn, Holborn Viaduct, Newgate Street, King Edward Street, Angel Street, St Martin’s Le Grand, Cheapside, King Street, Gresham Street, Lothbury, Threadneedle Street, Queen Victoria Street, Cannon Street, New Change, New Fetter Lane. Sunday 29 May VITALITY WESTMINSTER MILE All roads surrounding St James’ Park will be closed from 08:00 on Saturday 28 May until 22:00 on Monday 30 May. This includes The Mall, Marlborough Road, Birdcage Walk, Horse Guards Road and Constitution Hill. The Vitality Westminster Mile event will begin at 09:30 on Sunday 29 May. The Vitality London 10,000 will start at 10:00 on The Mall and the route will include many famous London landmarks including Buckingham Palace, Big Ben, the Bank of England and St Paul’s Cathedral. Road closures will be implemented between 08:0014:00 on the route to enable the event to take place safely. westminstermile.co.uk WestminsterMile London10k On Monday 30 May, residents enclosed by the Chancery Lane / Holborn / New Fetter Lane route, can exit the area at the below crossing points; Southampton Buildings to Holborn eastbound carriageway (not used by event) Furnival Street to Brooke Street or Holborn eastbound carriageway (not used by event) Residents on St Andrews Street, Shoe Lane and surrounding areas will be able to exit via Stonecutter Street to Farringdon Street. Residents of Little Britain and Bartholomew Close can access and exit the area via Rotunda (Museum of London). Access will be facilitated by stewards only when it is safe to do so. The Vitality Westminster Mile is held on the most iconic mile in the world, starting on The Mall and finishing in front of Buckingham Palace. It features a series of mile races for all ages and abilities, so everyone can take part. There are races for families, juniors, adults, elite and wheelchair users.
