Worship: A definition
(verb) To render reverent honor and
homage to a sacred personage,
or to any object regarded as sacred.
Worship is our response, both personal
and corporate, to God; for who He is,
and what He has done, expressed in and
by the things we say and the way we live.

Let us consider how we may spur one
another on toward love and good deeds, not
giving up meeting together, as some are in the
habit of doing, but encouraging one another . . .

Ephesians 5:19
Has it ever occurred to you that one hundred
pianos all tuned to the same fork are
automatically tuned to each other? They are of
one accord by being tuned, not to each other,
but to another standard to which each one must
individually bow. So one hundred worshipers
meeting together, each one looking away to
Christ, are in heart nearer to each other . . .

saying, “Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on
earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.”

When you recognize God’s awesomeness, it will
evoke a certain response from you because you
see something and Someone who is different and
higher than you are. To worship is to act as an
inferior before a superior.

Then I heard what sounded like a great
multitude, like the roar of rushing waters and
like loud peals of thunder, shouting: “Hallelujah!
For our Lord God Almighty reigns. Let us rejoice
and be glad and give him glory! For the wedding
of the Lamb has come, and his bride has made
herself ready.”
Revelation 19:6-7
Worship is not passive, but is participative.
Worship is not simply a mood; it is a response.
Worship is not just a feeling; it is a declaration.
