them know how much you appreciate their music by thanking them personally, and also by buying their CDs at the
Information Booth.
The Tumbleweed Music Festival planning committee also
thanks our sponsors and patrons for generously supporting
the festival. It couldn’t happen without them!
Thanks to you, our audience, for participating in this year’s
festival. If you can, please lend your support to this and
future festivals by buying Tumbleweed Festival products.
We have cool buttons, t-shirts, and posters featuring the
beautiful work of local artist, Suzi Vitulli. We are also raffling
a Yamaha A1M acoustic electric guitar valued at $955 and
donated by Ted Brown Music. Raffle tickets are $5 and the
drawing will be held Sunday evening. Tumbleweed has
been blessed this year by the donation of a banjo, two concertinas, two microphones, and two mic stands that belonged
to the late Steve Guthe, renowned Northwest musician and
past Tumbleweed performer. These items will be available at
a silent auction in the Community Center that will close at
an imprecise time late Sunday afternoon, with the winners
announced at the Sunday evening “Bridges” concert. We
are grateful to Steve Guthe’s sister, Susan Castelazo, for
the donation and are excited to make them available in
Steve’s memory.
A new high-tech way to support the festival this year is by
donating using PayPal or credit card and your online connection via computer or smart phone. The Tumbleweed QR
code for direct scanning with your smart phone camera is
that funny square symbol shown on the front page of the
program and at the stages.
Finally, there are simply not enough words to thank all the
wonderful volunteers who have worked so hard to make this
festival and our previous 16 festivals such a continuing success. May your effort be a blessing to all who attend! And
may all who attend experience joy.

Kathy Nye
and festival goers will enjoy Chris’s workshop “Leveraging Best Sound At Venues.”
Waterbound is the unique combo of
autoharp and mandolin. Steve Akerman
and Mimi Geibel say they long to take a
truly pretty melody, twist it around, and
show you a whole new way of looking at
it. They love fiddle tunes, folk, Swedish,
Metis, Celtic, and blues. Sit back and enjoy!
Dan Weber is an award-winning songwriter who has been described as “The
classic mid-life overnight sensation.” A
gifted storyteller but still new to songwriting, Weber was a 2012 finalist in the
Kerrville ‘New Folk’ competition. Dan is
a headliner for our Saturday concert.
Wes Weddell won the 2006 Tumbleweed
Song Contest. He grew up in Pullman
but lives on the West side. Wes is known
for his strong guitar work and quiet wit.
This is Wes’s 11th Tumbleweed. He will
also emcee the songwriting contest.

Winters & Skalstad have combined
their talents to create original and classical folk compositions. Local performers
Joe Winters and Mike Skalstad are cowriters and guitarists who have been
performing together for 5 years and are
returning to our Tumbleweed stage.
Brendan Wires is a bass soloist from
Monroe, WA. “Set aside the stunning finger-work and virtuosity, Brendan’s gorgeous sound is the most original thing I’ve
heard in decades...”Pacific Jazz Review.
Woodlander is a trio who have played
together since the 70s in a popular NW
rock/country/bluegrass band called
Wheatfield and as the Kromaticats. They
perform on a variety of instruments with
a strong tilt towards original songs and a
talent for entertaining audiences. Most
of their songs are written by Will Hobbs
and Kerry Canfield and Paul Douglas
also contribute to their Americana style.
