2011 Program - Forest City Thunderbirds
2011 Season Official Program
As President of the Forest City Thunderbirds Football Club I would
like to welcome you to our competitive summer program. The players
and coaching staff have been working hard and are looking forward
to a successful season. Once again, we are fielding four teams:
PeeWee, Bantam, Junior Varsity and Varsity for competition in the
Ontario Football Conference.
Our mission is to provide, through the game of football, an avenue
where young men can develop an understanding of concepts such
as teamwork, ethical behaviour, respect for others and leadership while
at the same time establish an enjoyable environment for the further
development of their football skills. All of us involved in the OFC are
committed to the Canadian game and as such, are interested in
developing the talent necessary to perpetuate its existence.
On a practical level we are trying to provide a venue whereby players can build upon the skills they
learn in their LMFA and high school programs. The Thunderbirds attract student-athletes from the
Thames Valley District School Board and the London District Catholic School Board. Many of our
graduating players have continued to play in the CIS or the CJFL. One of our former players, Vaughn
Martin is currently playing DL in the NFL with the San Diego Chargers.
Participation in amateur sport has always been viewed as an excellent way for the youth of today to
become the leaders of tomorrow. The values of good sportsmanship, determination and teamwork
that are developed within our program will help our players excel in school and in the community.
On behalf of the players, coaches and support staff I would like to thank you for your continued
support of the Forest City Thunderbirds Football Club as we continue to provide a program for
young athletes who enjoy the experience of high level competition.
Sincerely,
John Darnell
President and CEO
Forest City Thunderbirds Football Club
