The Company
To float, perched freefall in a universe where gravity
can be denied, defied, deferred.
Gesture, movement and ease in the void are the
principal means of communication in this space where diverse and complementary entities rub shoulders.
One cannot move without the other, such is the inescapable interactive relationship for all within.
CirkVOST is born after the final flight of the company
« les Arts Sauts » in September 2007.
Five artiste’s shared desire to stay on the wing, to
fly, to catch and weave dreams bring them
to take their aerial experience towards new horizons.
Each of them previously founders of or actors within
various companies (Les Frères
Kazamaroffs, Acid cirq, Olof Zitoun, Les Arts Sauts,
Encore et un…) rich from their experiences
in both creation of shows and in the circus arts, passionate about their work, the group opt to
continue their communal life of cultural itinerancy and
to take on the challenge of a new highflying artistic adventure.
A universe drawn largely from that of the comic-book,
in which ropes, nets and hands become the point of
focus against the fall, against the human failing before the void from which forms a perpetual battle to
not let go.
This original version is naturally subtitled in the universal language of the eye, the ear and, of course,
the heart.

The Cyclonauts
The CirkVOST team is composed of 13 people, 12 of
whom comprise the touring company
Andrew MITCHELL
Sara SANDQVIST
Arnaud CABOCHETTE
Benoît BELLEVILLE
February 1970. Born beneath the Australian sun in the
town of Melbourne. The beach, basketball and reading
win out over his multimedia studies at the RMIT University of Melbourne where he nonetheless manages to
stick it out for almost a full year. But the lack of action
takes him rapidly to Curcus OZ, where he becomes factotum. Ever since then he’s never stopped climbing to
where the urge takes him in order to clean up a few
building facades with Vertigo or do the necessary to
let human beings identify themselves with birds. Aerial
rigging holds no secret for him, and he was taken on by
“les Arts Sauts” as their first (professional!) rigger.
February 1978. Born in la Croix Rousse district of Lyon,
central France, he decides early on to get closer to the
sun and settles in the south of France. Not particularly
won over by the “Performing Arts » section of Montpellier University he decides get into show business in
order to hone up his knowledge of the subject. Going
in at the bottom, as cook, he becomes an actor. Moves
on to juggling after some acrobatics and finally gets his
future in hand by creating the company “Olof Zitoun”,
which tours the world (it’s not really that big). Then,
tired of making clubs fly, he becomes member of “les
Arts Sauts” in order to apply his throwing skills to people.
August1973. Swedish by birth. Very soon, at the age
of 16, she discovers France and its national school of
circus arts in Chalons-en-Champagne. Despite her initial orientation towards equestrian acrobatics, she becomes contortionist and then flyer for trapeze cradle
during her four years at the school. A platinum screw in
each shoulder transforms her into a semi-android and
allows her to continue her career in various Scandinavian, European and interplanetary shows. She joins
up with the humans of “les Arts Sauts” and along with
them, for eight years, gives herself over to defying the
laws of gravity.
June 1974. Born in the 7th district of Lyon, he’s not from
the Croix-Rousse by birth, but by adoption. As soon as
he can he’s climbing trees and bouncing all over the
place which brings his mother, (exhausted by all this
energy) to send him off to a gym club. Ten years of
training and competition later makes going from there
to the circus as easy as a double somersault. Some
time spent with the Circus Archaos at the age of 17 and
exams failed twice over bring the conviction that the
path chosen is the right one. He cuts out an artistic swathe through various shows and then decides to make
his own with his “Frères Kazamaroffs”. From juggling to
becoming the flying object itself is just a step, achieved
when he joins “les Arts sauts.
Mélissa COLLELO
August 1975.She’s born during the Canadian summer,
so gets to know the sun before the snow. At the age
of 17 she decides to take off by doing flying trapeze at
the national circus school in Montreal Three short years
later she’s flying with her own wings and sets off on her
first voyages. The “Canadian Trapeze Airline” takes her
on board first to Sweden for a Nordic tour with Circus
Scott. She’ll do a few stopovers at Berlin, London and
Tokyo before finally getting hold of an ‘open ticket’ with
the flying trapeze company “les Arts Sauts”.
Jan NAETS
Born in October ’76 in Wilrijk. First of all clown in Belgian clinics, then teacher for adults and children in
difficulty, he lets go social work to take care of merchandise, as a dock worker in the port of Antwerp. The
Antwerp festival catches sight of him and asks him to
work as tent rigger for circus companies over several
summer periods.. Les Arts Sauts, passing through for
the Zomerfestival, take hold of him and turn him into
chief technician.. Since then, armed with an increasing
number of diplomas and qualifications, he has become
an outstandingly all-round technician.
Tom RAMPAZZI
Born in February ’82 in Alès, south of France. After training as a mechanic and further on in electronics, he
goes back to the land to become “family help” on a
farm. He’ll leave his quiet countryside in order to undergo training as a theatre technician, in which he’ll
learn how to master sound and other techniques. From
thereon in creations and technical work abound. He
goes from the circus with the Arts Sauts to theatre with
Zabou Breitman, adapting his art in function with his
emotions.
Alexandrine BIANCO
Born in the countryside well before the rest of the team,
she turns, after studying various avenues, towards teaching art history and tourism. From the ‘90’s onwards
she moves within the circus world. But it’s only after
she migrates to the south of France and begins the
CirkVOST adventure that she finally decides to try total
immersion.
Cécile YVINEC
July 1980. Sees the light in the 14th district of the French
capital. Born to highly geographically mobile parents
she grows up in the Maritime Alps near Cannes where
she takes her first steps in the world of circus. That’s
when she starts going to the Campelières circus school
in Mougins. Despite an obvious predisposition for the
unicycle, she soon gets tired of her single wheel and
turns towards acrobatics and dance, carrying out two
years of preparatory class in Mougins. Then she goes
through the ENACR and the CNAC and becomes a grand
professional flying acrobat (1.74m). After various aerial creations she becomes part of CirkVOST in 2008 in
order to carry on getting high..
Jean PELEGRINI
May 79. Born at Metz, in Moselle. At the age of two
he leaves Moselle for La Marne and grows up in Chalons en Champagne. A carefree childhood, he practices handball and judo, giving himself over to studying
electronics and isn’t at all interested by the national
school of circus arts down the road. He gets into show
business as a lighting designer and will work as much
for theatre (la salle rive gauche) as for companies (la
boite noir) or festivals (jonglissimo). In 1999 he gets a
chance to be catcher on a swinging cradle, which leads
him to change jobs and go over to the other side of the
lights. A passage at the CNAC rounds off his training
and teaches him about catching from every angle.
Nicolas FORGE
Born in 1980 in Macon.
Author and composer, it’s after a journey during which
he writes a songbook that he forms the group « Ancien Pantins ». In December 2003 the concert at « Thou
bou d’chant » allows them to bring out an album. At
the same time he learns about the techniques of street
theatre with « Komplex Kapharnaüm » and takes part in
the shows made by this company renowned throughout
Europe. From 2004 on he gives himself up to composing and comes up with his own original recordings («
entre chien et loup » and « super sans plomb “companies ). In 2007, he forms the duo « Luzita Electric » and
then two years later joins CirkVOST.
Raphael MASSE
Born in August 1983 in Perthuis, this show-born child
grows up in the universes of Zingaro and la Volière Dromesko. A rapidly terminal school career allows him to
get back to show business building tents with the famous HMMH circus tent manufacturers. He holds every
driving licence going and has trained as stage manager
at the ISTS in Avignon. The way to go is marked out.
Having come across the circus AOC, the Désaccordés
and the Colporteurs, he joins the CirkVOST troupe in
order to light up the Epicycle!
David GUILLOUART
Born in Châlons en Champagne the 13 of April 1970 at
5h. His childhood goes by without a hitch, but even so
he toughens himself up from 12 to 19 years old with
boxing. Saying goodbye to studies in accounting he
goes to the Centre National des Arts du Cirque in order
to learn how to catch his fellow beings. On graduating
he sets out with a flying trapeze number on various
tours with the Circus Flic-Flac , Merano, Circo Internaçional d’Espagne... Then, leaving the flying rig behind him
he gets an aerial cradle number together with Marie
Seclet. He does a brief stopover with the Cirque du
Soleil and Franco Dragone before crossing paths with
CirkVOST.
Epicycle
Epicycle is an hour-long journey which carries spec-
tators of five years and upwards, comfortably installed in deckchair seating, into a circular universe
inspired by comic books.
Inside a space made of two huge metallic circles
13,50 m in diameter, a small aerial society bustles
and toils.
Carried along by the electro acoustic music, eight
acrobats busy themselves with the gears, pulleys
and cogs of the immense ship, in order to set the
machine in motion.
The cyclical movements of the mechanism draw the
circles’ inhabitants into a variety of situations in
which urgency can be a solution, the fall a constant
fear, flight a necessity.
A musician in his animated sphere brings rhythm to
the images with the sound of a saw, a guitar, and
other instruments.
Acrobatic flight, carried out through different aerial
techniques, becomes a language, a ritual which allows each cyclonaut to express their personal emotions, thus taking part in this common destiny: The
Epicycle.
