SECRETARY’S SCRIBBLES FOR MAY 2013
MEETING – The monthly meeting of the MidState Antique Auto Club was held at the
Crossroads Office Park, on Monday, MAY 6, 2013
MID-STATE PRESIDENT SAL diFORTE opened the meeting promptly at 7:10 PM and asked for a “Moment
of Silence” for our departed members, friends, the Boston Marathon Victims, victims of other
catastrophes, and our troops overseas. SAL then asked for any new members or invited
guests. Our Guest Speakers introduced themselves tonite. Upwards of 62 Mid-State members
were signed in… We welcome all members, new and old…so, stop by next month!!!
REPORTS - SECRETARY MARY BURCHSTEAD – was out of the office tonite ... so, the reading of the
previous Monthly Meeting was waived as these minutes appear in our monthly newsletter. Our President then
asked if there were any changes to be made; with no replies, the report was accepted as printed.
TREASURER GARY REED – read the Finance Report which covered the previous month. GARY also noted
that the 2013 Annual Auction netted a total $424.00... which certainly is more than the $300 reported in last
issue (thanks again to the Auction crew and Buying members ...) and the bank balance included moneys the
club has set aside for our annual Tech Awards which honor two local students each year at Leominster CTE and
Monty Tech. The report was accepted by the members present. Father’s Day Sponsors are being accepted until June
meeting … Are you a Sponsor ???

MON JUN 3 –CLUB MEETING 7PM - As a special
treat for our membership, RAY RATHIER has invited
his son TODD and the other Instructors and Students
at Leominster's CTE to attend our JUNE Meeting and
show us what the 'Devil Dawgs' have been up to since
the last time we had them visit. (Remember the gang
with the ROBOTS that chased around beach balls and
did all sorts of other neat things ???) This year, the
group has designed and built TWO electric powered
RACE CARS and just came back from an Impressive
Outing at Lime Rock Track in CT. where they scored
FIRST place and THIRD place awards. We'll not spoil
any more of their presentation, but here's a write-up
that TODD did before their competition:
TODD RATHIER sez: The Leominster High School Devil Dawgs racing team has built two electric race cars to
compete in the Electrathon America competition. The Vehicles are mostly student designed, student built and
student driven vehicles that race on NASCAR racecourses in an endurance race format. We have been working
on the vehicles since December and will be competing this spring and this coming fall. ...

ANNUAL TECH SCHOOL AWARDS - FOR MONTY TECH AND CTE STUDENTS
This annual AUTOMOTIVE AWARD in memory of Russ Winters and Bud Arbo,
recognizes two graduating senior high school age automotive trade students in the Fitchburg
and Leominster, MA area, one each at Monty Tech and the Leominster CTE. MSAAC sees
the AUTOMOTIVE AWARD as representing and recognizing an automotive student’s
true desire to continue their occupation in the automotive field - not necessarily that this
student has achieved the highest grades in that particular automotive field.
This month, RICH LETARTE announces the Annual Automotive Award Recipients
have been chosen for Monty Tech and CTE students. For 2013, they are as follows: Monty
Tech Awardee is Sarah Chicoine & Leominster CTE's Award recipient is Matthew Nowlan. Congrats to
both students !!!
Thanks to RICH LETARTE, DANA L’CUYER – Monty Tech Auto instructor and
DON TUCKER – Leominster CTE Auto instructor for assisting in this effort.
