“They tried to enter Bithynia, but the Spirit of Jesus would not
allow them to.” ~Acts 16:7
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness,
goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against
such things there is no law (Galatians 5:22-23).
When you find the ___________, you’ve found the
___________.
Where is the fruit? There is the Spirit.
There is a difference between “Fruits of the Spirit” and
“Qualities I Admire.”

QUESTIONS FOR DISCUSSION AT HOME OR IN QGROUP
1. Share a story in your life where you think God might have been
working, but you’re unsure if it was really Him or not. As you share
the story, can you identify any of the fruits of the Spirit?
2. Phil said there is a difference between “Fruits of the Spirit” and
“qualities I admire.” What are some qualities you admire which
aren’t necessarily fruits of the Spirit?
3. Which fruits of the Spirit do you wish you had more of in your life?
What are some spiritual practices that you think would be helpful
in cultivating this fruit?

UPCOMING EVENTS
September 4, 2016
Haiti Campaign Recap
Our two weeks in Haiti could be simply described as “good works
with great people.” Our wide range of activities included providing much
needed medical care in multiple villages, building temporary housing for
a family in need, having some fun with the kids at the orphanage that
supplied our housing, and putting on a VBS-type event for teens of the
community. However, as is often the case in these situations, I was more
overwhelmed with the many things God taught us through our brothers
and sisters in Haiti. The Body in Haiti is strong, bold, and encouraging
beyond belief. On behalf of the entire group, I want to thank you all for
your financial and material help, along with the constant prayer we were

showered with. God is good! My City, His City
In addition to the Amazing Race Service Challenge and the free
classes being offered, another aspect of our My City, His City outreach
event on Saturday, Sept. 24, will be a Block Party held
in and around our east parking lot from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
We need you to volunteer to help out and also to invite
your friends and neighbors, because there’s going to
be plenty of fun stuff going on. Free lunch from 11 to
1:00. Lots of live music, including Spaghetti Eddie for
the kids (featuring our own Erick Alexander), Lucas
Ross, Nathaniel & Jesse Garner, New Reign, and more.
Free basketball and soccer clinics. A video game truck.
A petting zoo. A rock wall. Inflatables and games. It’s
going to be a good time, so come out for any or all of it.
Of course, the whole day is designed to help us bless and connect
with our community, so make sure to grab as many invitation cards as
you like from the auditorium, your classrooms, or Information Central,
and give them out to your friends. And since we’re less than three
weeks from the event, it’s time to sign up for the Amazing Race and/
or volunteer for the Block Party and other activities. You can do that in
classes or really easily on the MRCC App or at mrcc.org/mycityhiscity.
Hope you plan to help, invite, and attend on Saturday the 24th!
~Andy Lashley
New Quarter Brings New Classes
We will kick off our new slate of Wednesday night adult classes on
Sept. 7. Stafford North is teaching a class on Daniel, and we will give
copies of Stafford’s upcoming book on the subject to any guests you
bring. We also have a Marriage Recharge class for couples married 2-12
years, a class on Restoration Movement history, a new men’s class which
features different speakers each week, our yearly women’s speaker
series, a missions class (open to all) that will help prepare us for next
year’s GoMission effort, and a class just for young adults (20s and early
30s). The International class will move to S1, and our Earlybird class
continues to meet at 5:15 in A105-106. Visit mrcc.org/wednesday for the
class list, descriptions, and locations.

Bless Our Friends from Around the World!
If you speak English, know how to have a conversation, or can
simply show genuine care, we need you. Opportunities abound to
change the world right where we are! Hundreds who have never heard
the gospel are in our midst. MRCC International Ministry appreciates
volunteers. We need you to reach out to internationals in a variety
of ways: Acts of hospitality and kindness—offer a hand of friendship
or invite someone to share a meal; become a regular English
conversation partner Wednesday nights in the Summit (S1); attend
International Worship and/or monthly potluck on the first Sunday
each month, and meet someone new to welcome and bless. To learn
more, please attend our Appreciation Dinner this Tuesday, Sept. 6,
at 6:30 p.m. in Fellowship Central. RSVP (required for catering) to
[email protected] or 405-437-8545.
