Lanterns on both banks of Tombori River
Walk are to be illuminated , and various
festival events are to be held. The whole of
Tombori River Walk, the waterfront promenade of Dotombori River, is to be decorated with 1,300 lanterns this year.

Hiranogo Summer Festival
The largest float festival in Osaka city,
announcing the coming
of mid-summer. Nine
floats compete in a
pulling contest on both
t he 12 t h an d 13 t h.
Don't miss them entering the shrine on the
night of 13th. Rituals
such as a parade of
portable shrines are
held on the 14th.

Following a lion dance and portable
shrine parade in the evening, the
festival's climax is an offering parade
of soul stirring Makura Daiko. The
Makura Daiko falls right and left, while worshippers wearing red
caps beat their drums in unison.

Taikodai Festival
A procession

two players,
parades through

Soemon-cho Summer Festival
A charming summer festival held in the entertainment quarter of Minami.
Events include the final round of the Miss Soemon-cho Contest that the
winner will be the symbol of Soemon-cho, an outside live stage, and a Kamigata traditional art performance. An elaborate stage and outside beer-hall
are joined by special stalls of the famous shops of Soemon-cho.

Tenjin Matsuri Festival
This festival is the greatest
in Osaka boasting of a
history of a thousand years.
In the Hommiya (Main day)
on the 25th, the Rikutogyo
starts from the shrine at
about 15:30, and finishes
in the shrine again through the Funatogyo. The festival
reaches a climax during that passage.

Daigaku Festival
The "Daigaku", the only one
existing in the city, is made of
79 lanterns hung from arms
standing on a pole. A mid-size
Daigaku is carried in the park.

Umeda Yukata Festival 2016
Sumiyoshi Festival
A festival featuring the "Yukata"
(traditional Japanese clothing) in the
city of Osaka. The main event "BonDance", one of many traditional Japanese dances performed in summer will
be held around a "Yagura" (wooden
scaffold). Since the dance steps are
very simple, anybody can participate it
with/without wearing Yukata.

A highlight of this festival is
nagoshi-harai-shinji ritual held on
the 31st. In this ritual, nagoshime
women and children in costumes
of the Muromachi period (14-16th
century) go through a large ring
made of thatch. Visitors can also
participate in this ritual to wish for
good health.

The whole of Umeda City is filled
with cheerful Tanabata atmosphere. Enjoy a welcome arch

held on July 2, 3 and 7.
This shrine is dedicated to the Vega.
Decorated with bamboo branches on
both days of the festival, the shrine is
surrounded by numerous street stalls
and thronged with visitors. The
portable shrines procession is held at 16:00 on the 7th.

Tanabata Evening at Shitennoji Temple
To celebrate Tanabata, a bamboo grass tunnel and
an artificial Milky Way will appear at Shitennoji
Temple. The tunnel will be 27meter long and the
Milky Way made with brilliant LEDs. If you walk
through the bamboo grass tunnel decorated with
tanzaku (colorful strips of paper on which people
write their wishes), your wish might be heard by the
stars. During the period, the venue will be lined with
street stalls. There will also be various events,
including a concert, an astronomical viewing session, and lectures relating to stars.
On July 7, a fire ritual will be held at the temple to burn the tanzaku.

Osaka Castle Water Park by Huis Ten Bosch
Huis Ten Bosch, a theme park in Nagasaki, will be holding a
summer limited water attraction in front of Osaka castle! A lot
of summer-like attraction will be available including a 150m
long water long slider, a jumping slider and three huge swimming pools with 20m in diameter. It's a fun event to enjoy
many different water activities in swimsuit right in front of Osaka Castle! World beer festival
