The Somewhat True
Tale of Robin Hood
By Mary Lynn Dobson
Synopsis
Robin, with the help of a Merry man wannabe simply known as the Town's Guy, turns
this once-simple legend into a hysterical trip through Sherwood Forest with surprises at
every turn. Our charming-but-egotistical hero leads his band of familiar wood-dwellers
as they battle the delectably evil Prince John and his haughty henchman, the Sheriff of
Nottingham. Robin's one and only love, the Lady Marian, remains true to her champion
as she assists his crusade by wishing the prince and sheriff a rash of various skin
afflictions. Incredibly, our model good-guy Robin discovers that even heroes have a few
important life lessons to learn.

Notes from
the
Director’s Chair
Wow! This has a been a short but fun ride! I have truly enjoyed every minute with this incredible
cast and am so proud of all they have accomplished in just four weeks! I believe with all my heart
that each person was the perfect fit for the role they were cast in and each of them has made the
character their own. I hope you enjoy the show as much as we have enjoyed making it happen.
There are several people I would like to thank for helping me do that. I can never thank them
enough but hope that they at least know that their efforts are deeply appreciated.
Thank you so much to...
My cast for making this such a great experience and for working so hard to make this a great show!
Their parents for sacrificing time with your kids so that they could be in the show and for driving
them to rehearsals!
Alex Comfort for designing our logo and for shedding some light on the subject!
David Martin for keeping the lights going when Alex can't be here!
Anne Simmons for making the actors look great and Karen Pearcey for providing her with the
costumes to do so!
The Twiggs family for numerous hours making props and set pieces.
Jennifer Behret for an awesome set design and Deedee Spangler, Marshall VandenOever, Blair and
Sally Rector, and my family for helping her make it happen.
And most of all, my family for putting up with me having Robin Hood on the brain for the last few
months and for the many things you did to help make this show happen! I couldn't have done it
without you and I promise you food in the pantry and home-cooked meals on the table as soon as I
can rub two brain cells together again!
