At the Personnel Commission meeting on December 16, 2014,
Ms. Dvora Mayer took her Oath of Office for her reappointment to
her third term. Ms. Mayer will serve as Vice Chair beginning
January 1, 2014 until December 31, 2015. Ms. Ernestine Moore
was reelected as the Chair until December 31, 2015.

Personnel Commission is pleased to welcome
Jaimie Nyczypor, Human Resources
Analyst with the Personnel Commission
Office at Pasadena Unified School District.
Jaimie joined the team on September 15, 2014.
Jaimie received her Bachelor’s Degree from
California State University of Los Angeles in 2010
in Psychology. In 2011, she began working as a
Student Worker for the Human Resources
Department of Public Works-Los Angeles County.
She then interned for a year in the HR
Department at McKenna Motors Inc., while
continuing her schooling. In 2013 she obtained
her Master’s Degree in Industrial Organizational
Psychology from The Chicago School of
Professional Psychology. She then began working
for Montebello Unified School District as a Human
Resources Specialist, and now continues her
career here at PUSD as the newest HR Analyst.

Classified Employee of the Year (CSEY)
The nomination period for the Pasadena Unified School District
2015 Classified Employee of the Year (CSEY) Program is now
open through Friday, February 20th. Nominations will be
accepted in the following categories:

Child Nutrition

Maintenance & Operations

Office/Technical

Para-Educator/Instructional Assistance

Support Services and Security

Transportation
Eligibility for the 2015 Classified School Employee of the Year
Program is limited to candidates who meet the following
minimum criteria:

Current classified employee of PUSD

Minimum of five years of service in the nomination category

Supervisory or Management employees are not eligible
Completed nomination packets are due in the Personnel
Commission by 3:30 p.m. Friday, February 20th. Applications are
available online, in the Personnel Commission Office and at
school sites. Incomplete packets will not be considered. Nominee
recommendations must focus on three areas:

Work performance

School community involvement

Leadership
Online Personnel Requisition
Personnel Commission has been working to introduce
an online Personnel Requisition which would eliminate
the need of paper requisitions. All required approvals
would be done online, and the requisitions would never
get lost. The system would allow us to track where the
requisition is pending. This system would help all
parties expedite the process and make the process
paperless!

Now that the Personnel Commission is once again
staffed with two full-time HR Analysts, we have
broken down the job analysis, recruitment,
examination, and selection workflow according to job
classification categories to enable District
administrators, hiring managers, supervisors, office
managers, Union representatives, and employees in
general know who their primary contact is in
Personnel Commission for designated job
classification categories. For classification and
compensation studies, please contact the Director,
Dr. Cy Chukwumezie. Use the Classified Salary
Schedule to quickly identify which classification falls
in each of the categories listed below.

On November 20th, the PUSD
Board of Education voted
unanimously to appoint Dr.
Brian McDonald as the
Superintendent of Pasadena
Unified. Until the substantive
appointment, Dr. McDonald was
the interim Superintendent, and
before that, the Deputy
Superintendent and Chief Academic Officer.
Congratulations! Thank you for all your hard work
to help our district grow and provide an excellent
education to our students.

PUSD Professional Development Day
On January 5, PUSD held a Professional Development day
for all of Pasadena Unified employees. The event was
coordinated by the office of Curriculum, Instructions &
Professional development with various sessions for
Classified, PreK-12th Grade Certificated & Instructional
Aides. Our Commissioner, Dvora Mayer also assisted in this
event and presented Basic Legal Rights for Classified
Employees– Pasadena Unified School District, “a merit
school district”.
