A Look Back at the Southeastern Oklahoma State
The Rangers struggled to move the ball against NCAA DII No. 13 Southeastern Oklahoma State, falling 44-13. The Savage Storm scored quickly
and jumped to a 14-0 lead before Northwestern scored on a 79-yard pass to
end the first quarter.
Southeastern went on to score 30 unanswered points and finished the
game with 546 yards, 305 from behind the arm of quarterback Justin Pitrucha, as he was 19-of-28.
Bryan Henry hit Zach Edwards for both Ranger touchdowns. Edwards
caught three passes for 97 yards and scored both of Northwestern’s touchdowns.
Northwestern was held to 270 yards of offense, including 160 yards passing.
Scouting the Cowboys
The Cowboys are coming off a 26-13 win over Bacone College.
NMHU will be behind the direction of junior quarterback Ronnie Simpson,
who threw for 2,156 yards and 22 touchdowns last season. The Cowboys
averaged 342.9 yards per game in offense, but gave up 436.8 yards to opponents.
After a 1-10 season in 2005 and the only win coming from the Rangers,
NMHU tied for seventh out of nine teams in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference preseason poll.
Last Meeting
Despite being down to the Rangers, 9-18, N.M. Highlands scored seventeen unanswered points. The Ranger defense held the Cowboys scoreless in
the second half, but the offense could only come up with one score. NMHU
out-performed NWOSU on offense, 337 to 267 yards, while the Rangers were
plagued with 120 yards in penalties and five fumbles.

Northwestern owns the advantage of the 5-3-1 series record. The Rangers
are 2-1-1 at home and are 3-2 on the road.
