Cruisin` the Coast 2014! We are so glad you
Welcome to Cruisin' the Coast 2014! We are so glad you are here. The weather has been
awful up north, and I know you are itchin' to blow that dust off. And with the gas goin
up, this is a great means of transportation to get around to see all the cool stuff going
on in town.
Let's start off with a welcome to the 75th Myrtle Beach Bike Week. Yeah, Baby! Weather
is awesome and I especially want to thank Myrtle Beach Harley-Davidson for the cover.
Mike did an awesome job at laying it out. I want to thank Suck Bang Blow for the
centerfold, and Joye, Nappier and Risher law firm for the back cover (hope you don't
need them, but if you do, you have the best). Without you guys, we don't exist.
Look out for the Twisted Tea Baggin' Wagon, and Bill, at all your favorite spots.
Food – Drunken Jacks – we want to thank them for being a new addition to our Book. They have an awesome menu
and a great view of the Marsh.
Dick Martin has a new location. Check out the map. If you want a real mechanic – that's the man to see.
Tattoos – Pit Bull is the place to go. Stay out of tents, trailers and kitchens. A sterile environment is a must. See the
artists work. Think before you ink.
Charities – Serenity House is the real deal. There are a lot of “bad” charities out there. Be careful where you put your
money. Know where your $20 goes. Join the 1st Annual SOWW Charity Poker Run. It's a great event and it helps a
good cause. See the Guide for more information.
Custom Lighting Efx – located just over the border in North Carolina. Well worth the drive to get your bike lit right.
No cheap parts here.
Spokes & Bones – come party with us. They are having the Razorbacks for the first time at Bike Week, and also
Kentucky Head Hunters will be playing. Check out their new French Quarter. It's an awesome sight to see.
Suck Bang Blow has Jasmine Cain. If you are a Jasmine Cain fan, she is headlining almost all of Bike Week. Crazy
games, burnouts, awesome food.
Full Throttle Saloon is coming to the House of Blues in Myrtle Beach. They are having Mike, Angie and Jesse from
the TV show, and also Jackyl will be playing. That will be a great event. Mike Ballard, Angie, and Jesse will be at
Owens Liquor to autograph your own personal bottle – check the schedule of events for the date.
Texas Roadhouse is having a Tequila Sunrise Special. Also, they are having a couple of nights partners with Myrtle
Beach Harley-Davidson – Tattoo Contest on one night, and Rib Eating Contest on another. Sounds like fun!
Take a Demo ride on Indian and Victory Motorcycles at Coastal Victory. You might just drive one home!
If you are looking for a new seat – go to Hottail Customs. He makes the best seat in this area. I have one.
You never know what is going to happen next at the Beaver Bar. Between the mechanical bull, midget wrestling, and
a great Bike Week line-up – well, pull up a chair and set a spell. Great little spot in the Inlet.
Download your Born to Ride app and take it everywhere with you!
Thanks to my staff for all the help on the Guide. Thanks to Linda for just about everything, Thunder for the maps,
Mike for putting me together, and Jane and Hank for getting me out in print. Thanks to Steven Spoons for the great
photography work he has done for us.
This is very important, please tell every advertiser that you saw them in the Pocket Guide®. We are available online
and available prior to the Rally so you can see what is happening before you leave your home to come here. Check
us out on FaceBook, too. You can actually plan on what you want to do during your stay in Myrtle Beach. Isn’t that
cool! And if you to be in the edition of the Bikers Pocket Guide, visit us on our website, BikersPocketGuide.com to
look at the archived Guides, and information on how to advertise with us.
In closing - my usual speech. Don’t be draggin’ and revving your pipes, ‘cause you’ll get a ticket and free room and
board. If you’ve had too much to drink, park your bike and get a taxi home. Think before you drink. Don’t leave your
drinks unattended. It’s not the bartender’s job to babysit your drinks. Take care of your bartenders and servers.
They work real hard to make your vacation unforgettable. Have a safe and great Bike Week!
Ron Martin
PS – Happy Birthday to Jason, Robin and Dad. Rest in Peace, Dad, it's been 2 years. We all miss you. Happy Mothers
Day to my Mom and all the Moms out there!

Carolina. Moored in quiet dignity and majesty
the Battleship NORTH CAROLINA, across the
river from downtown Wilmington, beckons
visitors to walk her decks. Envision the daily life
and fierce combat her crew faced in the Pacific
Theatre during World War II. From all across our
Nation they came, young men who had grown
up in the crucible of the Great Depression and
now determined to serve their Country in its
time of need. These are the men whose stories
you will encounter through their oral histories,
photographs, and mementos as you experience
the Ship and the exhibits.
Step back in time and let history come alive
through the crews’ stories. Discover and build
your personal connection by steering the ship,
starting her engines or even firing the guns. The

Charleston, SC – While visiting SC, take time
for a side trip to Charleston. Founded and
settled by English colonists in 1670, Charleston
grew from a colonial seaport to a wealthy
city by the mid-eighteenth century. Through
the mid-nineteenth century, Charleston’s
economy prospered due to its busy seaport
and the cultivation of rice, cotton, and indigo.
In April of 1861, Confederate soldiers fired
on Union-occupied Fort Sumter in Charleston
Harbor, thus signaling the beginning of the Civil
War. Charleston was slow to recover from the
devastation of the war. However, its pace of
recovery became the foundation of the City’s
greatest asset – its vast inventory of historically
significant architecture. Short on capital after
Schedule of Events
the war, Charleston was forced to repair its
existing damaged buildings instead of replacing
them. After the war, the City gradually lessened
its dependence on agriculture and rebuilt its
economy through trade and industry. Construction of the Navy Yard in 1904, just north of the
City’s boundaries, pushed Charleston vigorously
into the twentieth century. Visit Battery Park,
used during both the Revolutionary and Civil
Wars.
