CAREER OPPORTUNITY: SENIOR LABORATORY TECHNICIAN
Elk Valley Environmental Services (EVES) is a diversified analytical laboratory and
testing services facility, which first established its operations in 1986. EVES has a stateof-the-art, accredited facility and service capabilities; ensuring timely coal testing, coal
analysis, coal quality training and expert coal advice, water and air testing.
We are currently looking for a:
Senior Laboratory Technician
Location: Sparwood, BC
Reports to: Owner
General Accountability: Conducts routine and non-routine preparation and analyses of
coal and water samples in the laboratory. This position has potential to grow into
management position if the candidate demonstrates ability.
Specific Responsibilities:
• General Physical Testing Lab duties;
• Crushing and preparation of coal samples for analysis;
• Working with light industrial equipment;
• Receiving and shipping duties;
• Data entry using instrument software;
• Effectively liaise within department to communicate safety, quality and
operational issues;
• Use correct methods in accordance with the established procedures and
schedules while ensuring analytical quality;
• Observe established safety regulations and comply with all EVES health and
safety policies and procedures;
• Other duties as assigned by Owner.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
• Basic analytical and mechanical skills;
• Organized and highly motivated individual;
• Detail oriented individual with a strong commitment to quality and safety;
• Ability to work independently and/or as part of a team;
• Ability to effectively handle a high volume of work and time critical issues;
• Basic English communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills;
• Basic computer skills including MS Word, Excel and Outlook.
Required Qualifications:
• Work experience in a laboratory, sample preparation and analysis or a related
field an asset;

Physical Demands:
• Physically fit with no health issues;
• Ability to sit and/or stand for long periods of time;
• Manual dexterity to perform repetitive tasks;
• Ability to lift up to 23 kg.
