STUDYING AT THE BTU
Cottbus–Senftenberg
WELCOME TO THE BTU
COTTBUS-SENFTENBERG
STRONG RESEARCH AND
EXCELLENT TEACHING
Bridge to Studies
Dear prospective students,
ALL UNDER ONE ROOF
Thank you for your interest in studying
at the BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg. If you
take a look around, you will see for yourself that our university is young, well
equipped with modern buildings and
has consolidated it’s reputation in society and in the scientific community through the success of its graduates. You, as the student,
are our focus!
With more than 70 study programmes on offer across our three campuses, the BTU Cottbus–Senftenberg boasts a wide range of classical and job-market oriented courses of study. The offer of programmes ranges from the natural and engineering sciences to economic,
cultural sciences and health sciences. These can be studied in research-oriented or applied programmes, in correspondence with the
profile of a technical college. In addition to this, a variety of different
modes of study are available, in formats from full-time or part-time
studies, professionally-oriented or continuing education. This provides the ideal conditions in which you can combine your studies, your
career, children and family life.
The BTU Bridge Year Programme »Bridge to Studies« allows international applicants to improve their linguistic, subject-specific as well as intercultural skills and provides them with a greater perspective to achieve their study objectives.
The BTU offers you the option of organising your studies according
to your individual needs; you can choose both courses offering
research-oriented qualifications and applied courses. This corresponds
to the profile of a technical college. This means you could initially
choose to pursue a bachelor’s degree in an applied study programme
and subsequently choose to study for either an applied or researchoriented master’s qualification.
The quality of study conditions, which are consistently ranked by
the CHE (Centre for Higher Education Development) in the ’Zeit’
study guide, is partly due to the excellent teacher-student ratio; with
over 650 teaching staff for currently 9,000 students. Graduates of
our university have above-average chances on the job market.
As well as first-rate teaching, our university also has excellent technical facilities, with ultra-modern laboratories, lecture halls and an
extremely beautiful library.
I would be delighted to have the opportunity to welcome you to the
BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg in the very near future!
Prof. Dr.-Ing. Dr. h.c. DSc. h.c. Jörg Steinbach
President of the BTU Cottbus - Senftenberg
THE BEST STUDY CONDITIONS
With the latest technical equipment and the best study conditions,
our young, international university offers a practical, future-oriented
education that is geared towards the needs of the economy and the
demands of the job market. Students benefit from high-quality
teaching and excellent support.
The Programme includes:
CONTINUITY AND RELIABILITY
The BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg has three campuses with excellent facilities and conditions for research and teaching: In Cottbus and Senftenberg the natural sciences, engineering and economics are represented and at Cottbus-Sachsendorf the focus
is on music and social education programmes. The Senftenberg
site has newly established programmes in the field of health and
nursing sciences, complementing the already established range
of engineering sciences and biotechnology subjects.
OUTSTANDING RESEARCH
Excellence in teaching goes hand in hand with excellence in research, including successful knowledge and technology transfer
in society and in businesses. This classic aspect of a technical
university is also a feature of the BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg and
will continue to develop further. In certain areas the BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg has gained a highly respected reputation not
only in Germany but also internationally. The university cooperates with other universities in Germany and abroad, non-university research institutions, with regional small and mediumsized enterprises (SMEs) as well as with large and global companies. Through the Rolls Royce University Technology Centre,
the university belongs to the company‘s international network,
which numbers 24 universities worldwide, only four of which are
in Germany.

The National Code of Conduct regarding Foreign
Students at German Universities
The BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg wants international students to
feel at home at our university! It has therefore implemented the
National Code of Conduct regarding Foreign Students at German Universities. The universities who sign this code undertake,
wherever possible, to grant international students and prospective international students the same rights as German or assimilated EU students. They should also be given access to advice
and special support for the duration of their studies. The participating universities thus agree on common quality standards.
The Code sets out how the admission procedure should be carried out, as well as the technical, linguistic and social support
standards you can expect as a student at BTU.
