What is it we don’t know
about you that will surprise us?
That I am a photography enthusiast.
Describe your occupation.
I head Century Properties, which is involved in the development of real estate projects and master-planned communities.
What is your chief characteristic?
I am always curious.
Your favorite qualities in a man?
Confidence and humility.
Your favorite qualities in a woman?
Intelligence, wit and good humor.
Who are your favorite artists?
The Rat Pack, especially Frank Sinatra.
What is your favorite book or author?
I have neither favorite books nor authors.
I prefer to read current and contemporary
magazines and publications which are more
relevant to my work and life like National
Geographic, The Financial Times, The Wall Street
Journal and other glossy publications.
Your favorite heroes/heroines in fiction?
Not exactly a favorite, but for a fictional
hero, Superman is the first to come to mind.
Your favorite heroes/heroines in real life?
The monks of Bhutan. There is a lot of peace
and spirituality in their lives which they share
with others.
Who is the character in history you most
despise?
Judas Iscariot.
What was your childhood dream?
I had a modest ambition: to have a good
education and to pursue a business career.
Who were your childhood idols?
Elvis Presley and James Dean.
Who are your current idols?
I admire people who have game-changing
achievements like Steve Jobs, Aanon Michael
Rosholt and our very own Manny Pacquiao.
What is your favorite movie?
Titanic.
Who are your favorite movie stars?
George Clooney and Brad Pitt.
What are your favorite songs?
I’ve Got You Under My Skin and What a
Wonderful World.
Your favorite singer/band?
Louis Armstrong, Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett and The Beatles.
What TV shows/stations do you watch?
The news on BBC, CNN, Bloomberg and
National Geographic Channel.
What is your favorite food?
I love French, Japanese and Italian cuisines.
What makes you laugh?
The antics of my grandchildren.
What makes you cry?
Inefficiency.
What is your present state of mind?
Still curious. I’m hoping to discover new
places, and I’m looking forward to my new
expeditions.
Your favorite place in your country?
Palawan. It is the country’s last frontier
that may still be developed to a world-class
destination. Its natural beauty can compete
with that of the best tourist places in the world.
Your favorite place outside your country?
New York, Tokyo, Paris, Bhutan and Mongolia.
What is your idea of happiness?
Peace of mind.
What is it we don’t know about you that
will surprise us?
That I am a photography enthusiast.
What is your personal wish right now?
That we have continued peace and prosperity.
What is your wish for others?
My wish is for more Filipinos to join the
ranks of the middle class.

What was your childhood dream?
To be a lawyer like my grandfather
or to become a PBA basketball player.
Describe your occupation.
I am CEO of Globalport 900 Inc, a publiclisted holding company mainly involved in
port terminal management, logistic operations and dredging.
What is your chief characteristic?
I go by the saying “No guts, no glory!” So
my chief characteristic is most probably being a risk-taker type of a person. I am the type
who will go to business areas less or even not
traveled by anybody at all. Likewise, I am
not afraid to commit mistakes. Being young,
I feel that I have ample time to correct my
mistakes in the future
Your favorite qualities in a man?
Men are very rational, systematic and rely
on logic. We are left-brain dominant.
Your favorite qualities in a woman?
Women, on the other hand, are more rightbrain centered. They are very creative and
intuitive in nature. Add to this their instinctive part of being a mother.
Who are your favorite artists?
For men, Filipino painters Juan Luna, Fernando Amorsolo, H.R. Ocampo. For women,
Filipina painter Anita Magsaysay-Ho.
Who are your favorite authors?
Business writers Peter Drucker and Michael E. Porter.
What is your favorite book?
My Financial Bible: Principles of Corporate
Finance by Brealy and Meyers.
Your favorite heroes/heroines in fiction?
Hero: 1980s Superman.
Heroine: Wonder Woman.
Your favorite heroes/heroines in real life?
Heroes: Pope Francis, Padre Pio and Saint
Rita.
Heroines: Mother Teresa.

despise?
Caligula of the Roman Empire. Adolf Hitler of World War II. Osama Bin Laden from
the modern era.
What was your childhood dream?
To be a lawyer like my grandfather or to
become a PBA basketball player. Both I failed
to achieve.

In politics, President Ferdinand Marcos;
in NBA basketball, Earvin “Magic” Johnson;
in PBA, Ricky Brown; and in martial arts,
Bruce Lee.
Who are your current idols?
Jose Rizal, for Filipino values and virtues; Ramon S. Ang, my business and life
mentor; Li Kai Shing, Hong Kong’s Port
King; and trailblazing entrepreneur Richard Branson.
What is your favorite movie?
The Thomas Crown Affair (1999) and The
Notebook (2004).
Who are your favorite movie stars?
For men, Pierce Brosnan and Warren Beatty, and locally, Eddie Garcia.
For women, Annette Bening and Audrey
Hepburn.
What is your favorite song?
All ‘80s songs which give me so many
memories.
Your favorite singer/band?
All the ‘80s bands.
What TV shows do you watch?
Today, True Blood and Game of Thrones.
When I was young, I loved to watch V (or
Visitors).
What is your favorite food?
Lengua (Spanish); nasi lemak (Malaysian);
tocino/tapa (Filipino-Kapampangan origin).
What makes you laugh?
Slapstick movies.
What makes you cry?
Movies that depict families and relationships.
What is your present state of mind?
I will conquer the world! I can achieve
anything! Nothing is impossible!
Your favorite place in your country?
Boracay beach.
Your favorite place outside your country?
My house in San Francisco.
What is your idea of happiness?
Spending vacation with my wife and our
children.
