Why organizers & visitors love Brussels
Brussels is Europe’s must, attracting more than 55,000 international meetings,
congresses, exhibitions and fairs every year. It is a magnet for visibility and communication.
An irresistible meeting point that brings back organizers and visitors, time and time
again, a capital and a European village alltogether at the same time.
everything an organizer needs
Top facilities in Europe’s capital city
Experienced network of professionals
Decisions are made in Brussels. It is home to the
European Commission, the European Parliament,
NATO, 1600 international institutions and associations,
more than 2000 foreign companies, and 1000 press
correspondents. This is why the city has such highquality infrastructures and facilities, and such a deep
network of professional support services.
Brussels’ reputation as a meeting destination is built
on the competence and experience of its professional
providers. This front-line network of Exhibition &
Event Organizers, Meeting Planners, and Destination
Management Companies – all signatories to Brussels
International’s quality and ethics charter – is
committed to providing you with the highest standards
of expertise and organization.
Outstanding variety of venues and value for
money
This historical city has an extraordinary range and
variety of venues, with dozens of world-class fair
and exhibition facilities. The low cost/m2 of Brussels’
facilities compared to most other European cities
ensures that you produce a more profitable event.
6
Accessible and compact city
Meeting in Brussels is productive: it’s easy to reach
and easy to get around in. Sixty million Europeans live
within 300 km or two hours of the city. High-speed
rail links converge in the very heart of the city and
200 airlines touch down at Brussels international
Airport, itself only 20’ from the city centre and 10’
from Brussels Expo. And Brussels is at the heart of
Europe’s densest motorway network.
Mary Larkin
Group Vice President, Seafood Expositions
Diversified Business Communications,
Portland, Maine, USA
“We chose Brussels because of its central location
in Europe including proximity within two hours
of many major European cities. The city is able
to handle a large multi-national group very well.
As an organizer, our collaboration with the city
and the Brussels Expo plays a crucial role in the
success of our event”.
visitors’ favourite city
The European village
Speak your language
North meets South and East meets West in Europe’s
capital. It is a cosmopolitan meeting place with a
refreshing village mindset. Art de Vivre is all around;
a living museum of medieval history and Art Nouveau,
of street markets and stylish boutiques.
You can relax in Brussels and be yourself. Everybody is
from somewhere else. Most European languages are
spoken here, English almost everywhere. Brussels is
in; dress code is mostly Chic and Cool.
Small town, big heart
Unbuckle your belt, loosen your tie
It’s easy to get around in Brussels, a small city where
most leisure activities are walking distance from
business venues and hotels (even the giant Brussels
Expo is only 15’ from downtown). This small size
gives it a warm human dimension and make public
transportation more than alternative. And the lowprofile politics and stress-free environment help
visitors feel at home.
Brussels is about food – some of the finest in the world.
And chocolate, pralines and special beers. The town is
full of restaurants, taverns and sunny terraces.
Afterwards, take in the nightlife, jazz clubs, night bars
or the casino.

Tour & Taxis
A unique urban experience
www.tourtaxis.be
Tour & Taxis was a major freight and customs
centre on the Brussels canal, just a stone’s
throw from the centre of the city. Today, a
century after its construction, this shining
jewel from the golden age of industrialization
has been totally renovated for commercial use,
carefully preserving its magnificent facades and
structure.
The Warehouses area, spread over 17,410m2, is
divided into 4 large modular sheds, giving full flexibility
to fairs, exhibitions and events. These warehouses
are covered by the original saw-blade roofing, an
astonishing structure that disperses light evenly and
gives an impressive industrial atmosphere as well as
an image of strength and importance. The warehouses
welcome important fairs —including the Antiques
Fair, the Book Fair, the Entrepreneurs Show and the
European Business Summit— and events for leading
companies such as Armani, Belgacom, Euroclear,
ING, Levis, Microsoft, Nike and Proximus.
10
The Royal Depot, 30 metres from the Warehouses.
Finally, open spaces spread over the Tour & Taxis
site allow a Big Top/Marquee welcome for special
events such as Le Cirque du Soleil and the Couleur
Café music festival.
Full service support on site provides catering, latest
technology (WiFi), round-the-clock security and car
parking.

Grand’Place convention district
The historical part of the city: cobblestones,
ancient streets and original houses. This is
the place where tourists walk around, buying
waffles and chocolates, and drinking special
beers in typical cafes and brasseries. There is
always life here, day and night. Your convention
visitors will enjoy the Brussels Art de Vivre – as
soon as they walk out of their meeting room!
• Location and environment: the most central
location in town. It is definitely not quiet here
but don’t bother taking a cab or public transport
– it’s so easy to walk from your convention to
the Grand’Place, go shopping, discover the
museums of the Mont des Arts, have a drink on
the Sablon, enjoy dinner at the Fish Market and
have an exciting night at the Grand Casino or
listen to some jazz in our clubs.
• Connections: Airport Express shuttle at
Central station. Metro lines, buses and trams
all around.
• Major convention places nearby: BOZAR
and Square, Brussels Meeting Centre (from
September 2009).
26
Great diversity of venues and hotels
• Major exhibition / meeting venues downtown at
Square, Brussels Meeting Centre (2009)/BOZAR and
Bedford Congress
• 7 other exhibition / meeting halls (300 m2>1000 m2)
• 90 meeting / breakout rooms (>300 persons)
• 1200+ hotel rooms (3* to 5*)
Central location with easy connections
• Easy metro connections to other exhibition facilities
• 15’ by metro to Brussels Expo
• 30’ Airport Express shuttle from Central rail station
• Parking facilities
Exciting area for visitors
• Venues and hotels no more than 5’ walk from the
magnificent Grand’Place of ancient Brussels
• Dozens of restaurants and bars + nightlife and casino
• Museums, theatres, Royal Palace, special city walks
• Great shopping (fashion, art, antiques, street markets)

Louise convention district
If your project is a medium-sized and highstandard meeting, Louise is probably the
right solution. Five-star hotels are used to
accommodate multi-centre meetings and host
demanding participants. Shuttles are easily
organized to reach fully-integrated conference
facilities, which are slightly decentralized
(<1 km).
• Location: at the south-east edge of the
Brussels pentagon. Activities and facilities are
essentially spread along the Avenue Louise and
Avenue de la Toison d’Or. Short tram or metro
ride to downtown, the South railway station or
the green Bois de la Cambre.
• Environment: chic avenues with smart,
fashionable shops and elegant hotels.
• Connections: Airport Express shuttle at South
station.
• Larger plenary convention rooms at MCE
(Management Centre Europe) and Flagey
(>1km).
30
