October is Breast Cancer
Awareness Month
Holidays & Dates



OCTOBER . . . .Can you believe it? There is already excitement stirring in the
air at Bloom Academy! You can hear the little ones, not to mention PARENTS &
TEACHERS TOO, talking about costumes, candies, parties, etc. The fun is just
beginning! The fun really kicked Saturday the 10th with our 2015 TRUNK or
TREAT….Thank You to all of our parents, grandparents and friend offering their
“TRUNKS” for this festive family activity at the Punta Gorda Bloom. Halloween
will be on a Saturday this year, should your family participate in “trick or
treating, we cannot stress enough to take ALL safety precautions. Check your
route, illuminate your group, and don’t let little ones eat candy on their route
until after you check their treat bags. Make sure their costumes are fun, but not
a hindrance to walking, breathing or seeing.
One other SCARY point I want to bring up … THE FLU SEASON! So many
infections are heard on the news almost every day and now with THE FLU
SEASON…sniffles, diarrhea, vomiting, fevers, aches, etc . . . This is the time of
year that many family members are exposed to the FLU…and there are so
many different types of flu bugs…We cannot stress it enough, if your child is
displaying any kind of flu symptoms please keep them home. Be fair to them,
your child needs to have this time to rest and heal without risk of spreading and
reinfection to themselves with a bug that may have started originally with them.
Also, help them to understand the importance of hand washing to help prevent
the spread of germs.

DART TOURNAMENT
September 27th Ice House Pub in Punta Gorda was the place to be as we all competed in
our DART Tournament fund Raiser, we ate, visited, had fun and raised funds for our
teachers upcoming conference in Orlando! Congratulations to Derick (Dexter's dad) and
Nate who won first place!!
Many Thanks to ALL who came out to play and support!!

Food Allergies
We have some food allergies in our classes this
year, which include any type of the following
foods: NUTS (all), cinnamon, Please let us know
if any snacks or treats you bring in have any form
of these ingredients, so we can plan for an
alternate/similar snack for that child. If you have
any questions, don’t hesitate to ask us… THANK

Joan comes to us with LOTS of

volunteer at Est Elementary and a
Teachers Aid from Baker Elementary.

Easy Halloween Night Chili
1 lb. Ground Beef (or Ground Turkey)
browned in a nice size pot, drain grease,
Add 1 packet of McCormick Mild Chili
seasoning stirred into ground beef, 1 can
of Dark Red Kidney Beans, 1 can Pinto
Beans, 2 cans Del Montes Tomato
Sauce Zesty Chili Simmer for about 30
minutes… That’s it! Serve up with a
corn muffin, toasted garlic bread, Ritz
Crackers, Fritos . . .your choice! Top off
with a sprinkle of shredded cheddar
cheese, a dollop of sour cream . .
.Mmmmm! Now you’re ready to tackle
TRICK or TREATING!! .
Super delicious meal in less than 30
minutes. Perfect for Halloween Night!
Teal Toucans: These little Blooms
are so busy learning to crawl and
walk. Ms. Jackie keeps them busy
with all the fun toys and activities.
Pink Parrots: The pink parrots are
so happy and excited to see
everyone and learning so much so
quickly. Slowly but surely we are
learning new words and talking with
our friends.

RELAY FOR LIFE
We officially kicked off the Relay For Life
2016 …April 1, 2016 6pm –Midnight!
You will notice a few fundraisers popping up
throughout the next few months. Garage sales,
Dart Tournaments, Visani Comedy Tickets,
Bowling, etc……Our first one will be at
Visani’s Comedy Club Oct. 21st $10 for a
ticket to the show. All the ticket proceeds go
to Relay, they do ask that you purchase a drink
or appetizer! Dinners there are delicious TOO!
On Oct, 24th 1p -3p @ Treasure Lanes it a
Halloween Bowling Bash Team of 6 for $60
includes Shoes, Bowling, Pizza, Pitcher of
soda, Chinese Auction PLUS….PRIZES for
the Best Adult and Child costumes!! What a
GREAT FAMILY OUTING! Contact any of
the teachers for more information. We hope to
see you there
10/30 Get ready . . Our Monthly Themed Fun
Day is Trick or Treating around Bloom on
October 30th at 9:30 am. This is a fun time as
the kids get to wear their costumes that they
have been talking about all month.
Red Robins: Our Red Robins
have enjoyed making our new
friend Byron feel welcomed. These
friends have done awesome job in
going from activity to activity and
are learning to identify the letters in
their names.
Blue Birds: Our little blooms have
been busy practicing their cutting
skills and having a blast getting
know two new friends Cole and
Olivia that has joined our class this
past month.
Orange Owls: Our VPK class has
had fun visiting the Police Station
and learned all the things that
happen at a Police Station. They
did great at the Talent Show acting
out the 6 Monkeys Jumping In The
Bed.
Girl Scouts @ Bloom If your
daughter is “5” years old or older we would
love to introduce her to Scouting. For

SCHOOL ASSESSMENTS
Assessments will be in life cubby before October 9th, the staff and kiddos are working hard at
getting them done, so they can show off their beginning of the year skills. For the VPK
students the sign-up sheet is out and we are ready to schedule a parent teacher conference.
Please don't hesitate to ask questions if you have them. You are not required to have a
conference, if you would like to wait and have one in the middle of the year that works to.
Just let us know and we can prepare the paperwork for you and send it home in a Friday
