WINDOWS DEFENDER OPERATING
INSTRUCTIONS
INSTALLING THE PROGRAM:
1. Double click on the icon to setup the program..
2. A security message will appear. Click on the RUN button.
Continue with the installation by pressing NEXT.
Continue with the installation by clicking VALIDATE.
1. Click the top bullet to “accept the terms in the license agreement.”
2. Click NEXT to continue setup.
1. Click the top checkbox that corresponds to “Use Recommended Settings.”
2. Click NEXT to continue setup.
Click NEXT to continue setup.
Click INSTALL to continue setup.
1. Uncheck the box that allows the program to check for updates and run a
quick scan immediately after installation.
2. Click FINISH to finish setup.
1. The Windows Defender setup program will finish, and you will be able to
see the Windows Defender system tray icon (circled in blue).
2. Double-click on the system tray icon to bring up Windows Defender.
RUNNING THE PROGRAM:
The program will ask to check for updates
.
Windows will let you know it is looking for updates.
The program will let you know when the updates are complete.
Select the drop down arrow by the Scan
Select the full scan
Windows Defender is now scanning files on your computer.
When the scan is complete if it finds nothing it will let you know, then you
can close out of the program. If defender finds any infected files, select the
REMOVE ALL button
After Defender removes the files it would like to send information to
Windows. Select SEND INFORMATION
When the program is complete it will show your computer is running
normally. You are finished and can close the program.
