INTRODUCTION
THE TOURNAMENT
THE ONLY MAJOR IN CONTINENTAL EUROPE
THE EVIAN CHAMPIONSHIP PLAYS HOST TO THE WORLD’S
GOLFING ELITE FROM 10 TO 13 SEPTEMBER 2015
THE ULTIMATE GOAL
The Evian Championship is the fifth and final Major of the season following the ANA Inspiration, the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship, the US Women’s
Open and the Ricoh Women’s British Open. A strategic position for the only Major in Continental Europe which presents the final big challenge of the season
for the 120 players in attendance. The Evian Championship, co-sanctioned by the US and European tours (respectively LPGA and LET) is played in stroke play
over 4 days (18 holes per day). After the 2 first rounds, the 70 top players and ties make the cut.
THE QUALIFIERS, MORE PROMINENCE
Launched in 2014, the Qualifying Rounds (3 & 4 June 2015 at the Evian Resort Golf Club) are becoming an
unmissable springboard to the Major which once again shows its determination to support and give a chance to
the upcoming generation of women golfers.
Taking part in the event, played over 36 holes in stroke play, 56 players including 3 amateurs, selected based
on the Rolex World Rankings, represented 22 countries including both leading European nations as well as the
United States, Brazil and Swaziland.
Among the 13 golfers playing for France, Ariane Provot and Caroline Afonso, respectively winner and runner-up of
the 2014 Qualifiers, were present. This year, in the end the Dane Emily Kristine Pedersen won the event and Czech
Klara Spilkova was runner-up. Both players thus qualified for the Major. For this 2nd edition and to give the event a
more prominent position in the Evian Championship selection process, a purse of 10,000 € was at stake.
In addition to the purse, Société Générale and Lacoste, two of the Evian Championship’s major partners, were
involved in the qualifiers to offer support to young talents.
The two players who qualified each received a grant of 8,000 € from Société Générale to finance their travel
expenses during the 2015 season, and from Lacoste an allowance to be used to choose from their range of clothing
and accessories.
ROLEX ANNIKA MAJOR AWARD: INBEE PARK’S INDISPUTABLE VICTORY
For the second year, the LPGA (US Tour) in association with Rolex and Annika Sörenstam, winner of 10 Major
tournaments, crowns the top-performing player of the season’s Major in Evian.
Following the 4 first Majors of the season and prior to The Evian Championship, Inbee Park, winner of this year’s
KPMG Women’s PGA Championship and RICOH Women’s British Open, is already assured of winning the Trophy. It
will be presented to her during the Rolex Annika Major Award ceremony, Saturday, Sept. 12, at La Grange au Lac

«The stunning victory by the young Korean Hyo Joo Kim in 2014 strengthens our convictions and rewards our choices:

a sport with so much to offer» states Franck Riboud, Danone Chairman and The Evian Championship Chairman. He
is pleased to add that «Driven by the enthusiasm of this young generation, The Evian Championship, crowned for its
20th anniversary as the top tournament on the US Tour 2014, has gone straight into a new era, one that is more

This 2015 season has been marked by the emergence of young prodigies as well as by the domination of the
new queen of world golf. So when the young Lydia Ko (aged 18, NZL), Brooke Henderson (aged 17, CAN) and
In Gee Chun (aged 20, KOR) shone throughout the year, world number 1 South Korean Park Inbee answered
them by winning two new Majors (KPMG Championship and RICOH British Open) to complement her already
outstanding track record. In 2015, The Evian Championship has focused on youth with wildcards awarded to
four promising young women golfers: Ireland’s Leona Maguire, Switzerland’s Albane Valenzuela and from France
Mathilda Cappeliez and Agathe Laisné.
The Evian Championship is constantly evolving, forever re-inventing. It is a committed player and visionary
stakeholder in world golf. The highlights of the 22nd edition include:

The Evian Championship is the only stage of the Grand Slam in women’s world golf to be held in Continental
Europe, on either the men’s or women’s tours, and will bring together in the French Alps the top 120 women
players in the world, from 10 to 13 September 2015. The event is strategically placed on the international tour as
the tournament will crown the top player in the world at the end of the Major season.
Since its creation in 1994 by Antoine and Franck Riboud, The Evian Championship has worked its way to the top
and in 2013 became a member of the highly select club of five Grand Slam tournaments in women’s golf.
In a magical setting, on a course totally redesigned two years ago to provide the tournament with a venue
matching its status, this very special Major offers spectators a unique experience and a proximity to the players,
established champions and new golfing stars.

After over a century of absence, in 2016 golf makes its return to the Olympic Games in Rio. With regards
to the selections, the IOC has limited the International Golf Federation to 60 players (for men and women).
The IGF uses the official golf rankings (the Rolex Rankings for women) to determine player rankings for the Olympic
Games. For women, the top 15 players will qualify, limited to four players per country. Outside of the top 15,
players will be selected based on the Rolex Rankings, with a maximum of two players per country for countries
that do not have one or more players in the World Top 15. The ladies’ event will be held from 17 to 20 August
2016. Karine Icher and Gwladys Nocera are currently best placed to selected to play for France. In 2016, The Evian
Championship will be the first Major at which the Olympic champion will compete. For full details about the

THE FIELD
THE ELITE BOOSTED BY THE YOUNG GENERATION
LYDIA KO, STAR PRODIGY
WORLD N°2 – NEW ZEALAND
NEW
A GLOBAL EVENT THAT BRINGS TOGETHER
CHAMPIONS FROM 6 CONTINENTS
A meteoric rise. At the age of just 17, a pro for just 18 months, Lydia Ko claimed the
world crown. It is easy to lose track of all the records held by the New Zealander, which
in particular include a tournament win on the LPGA Tour at the age of 14, and now
the youngest world n°1 in the history of golf, on either the men’s or women’s tour.
Now aged 18, Ko also won the Australian Open in February and the Swinging Skirts
Classic in April.
MELISSA REID,
EUROPEAN N°1 - ENGLAND - AGE 27
The leader of the European rankings is a formidable competitor. In 2007, she shot the
lowest score for an amateur at the British Open, finishing 16th, her best performance
to date in a Major. Reid has demonstrated impressive consistency since she turned
pro seven years ago now. She also won the Solheim Cup in 2011. This year, she won
the Turkish Airlines Ladies Open by leading the tournament from start to finish.
Producing the best season of her career, this admirer of Annika Sörenstam could well
take her place on the final leaderboard.
BROOKE HENDERSON, L’AVENIR DU GOLF MONDIAL
WORLD N°17 - CANADA - AGE 17
This year will be remembered as the one when she blossomed at top-level golf.
Earning her first win on the LPGA Tour at only 17 years of age (the Cambia Portland
Classic in August), the young Canadian prodigy is right up there with the international
elite. Already ranked in the Top 20, she will turn 18 during the Major (on September
10). She will no doubt attempt to produce a top-flight performance to celebrate this.
Fifth in this year’s KPMG Women’s PGA Championship and US Women’s Open, she
is not overwhelmed by the pressure of a Major. A talent to follow this weekend and
above all over the coming years.
MICHELLE WIE, THE QUEEN OF MAJORS 2014
WORLD N° 10 - USA
The American in the media spotlight, aged 25, who received an invitation to play in
Evian at the age of 14, had a stellar year in 2014 despite a break due to a wrist injury.
The winner of the US Women’s Open received the Rolex Annika Major Award, given
to the top-performing player during the season’s Majors. She had already shone in
April 2014 when she won the LPGA Lotte Championship.
PAULA CREAMER, THE EVIAN CHAMPIONSHIP AMBASSADOR 2014
WORLD N°32 - USA
Voted best rookie on the LPGA Tour in 2005, the year she was victorious in Evian, the
Pink Panther has found her place in the world hierarchy, in particular with a Major
win (Women’s US Open 2010). Crowned Evian Championship ambassador last year,
there’s no doubt that Paula will be pulling out all the stops to relive a win in Evian. 10
years on...
KARINE ICHER, THE FRENCH LEADER
WORLD N°51 - FRENCH N°1
Following a fine performance at the ANA Inspiration where she finished just outside
the Top 10, the French n°1 is playing solidly this season, placing her at the top of the
French selection for the Olympic Games in Rio. Karine Icher has in fact made the cut
at all the tournaments she has competed in. Having finished in the Top 30 last year
at The Evian Championship, she has everything in place to improve her performance
this season.
GWLADYS NOCERA, IN FULL SWING
EUROPEAN N°1 - FRANCE
With her excellent performance since the start of the season, Gwladys Nocera is at
the top of the European rankings thanks to her win at the end of March at the Lalla
Meryem Cup in Agadir. She has had a good start to the 2015 season and is keeping
up the momentum of 2014, when her fine performances and a victory at the Indian
Open earned her 2nd place on the European Order of Merit.

Since its complete transformation in 2013, The Evian Resort Golf Club has been blossoming in a magical setting
between lake and mountains, favoring «pure» golf and asserting its distinctive Major championship course identity.
«It’s a great course, pretty complicated. You really need to keep the ball on the fairway. The rough is pretty thick.
The greens play fast, some of the putts can be really tricky. You have to think about a lot of things, but that’s what
makes it a great course» explains American champion Lexi Thompson.
WHAT’S NEW
In 2015, the course has continued to mature, thanks to the work carried out by staff and the hand of nature.
Improvements have been made to some of the tee boxes (14 & 18) and also to the 12th green to ensure, over
time, that it is up to Major status standard. Work has also been carried out to create path ways to improve golf
cart access. This facility, in particular highly awaited by guests staying at the Resort throughout the year, improves
movement around the 18-hole course whatever the weather conditions.
THE ACADEMY, OFFICIAL PRACTICE CENTER
The Academy is the tournament’s official practice center and home to the champions’ practice sessions. Unique
facilities with driving range, training modules and a 4-hole course over looked by the Manoir du Golf guest house
and its 7 bedrooms allow golf enthusiasts of all ability to experience a 100% golf stay all year round.

crossover, made its appearance on the French
market a month ago. Its fluid, elegant lines,
suggestive of a pleasurable driving experience and
its welcoming cockpit with central floating console
make it very appealing. In a few days, the second
crossover, the «Renault Kadjar», will be on the road
providing the advantages of a SUV, a saloon car and
a hatchback all at the same time.
Partner of The Evian Championship for the 16th year
running, Renault will be able to showcase the Renault
Kadjar with vehicles made available to the TOP TEN
players and Renault Espace vehicles used to transport
VIPs. Each year, Renault is proud to be involved in
this event, a place to entertain its VIP clients and
where all those taking part in the Major can enjoy all
of its new offerings. The same is true for our partner
in the Renault Nissan Alliance, the premium Infiniti
brand, present again this year, proving the perfect
synergy of our ranges all over the world.

Among the sixty or so major cultural and sporting
events that the Department of Haute-Savoie
supports each year, The Evian Championship has
historically held a special place. This competition
inspires excellence, its organizers pay attention
to perfection, it receives global recognition and
is popular with increasingly large numbers and
different sectors of the public… all of these factors
not only contribute to providing an event in HauteSavoie but also contribute to its promotion. It is with
this in mind that the Departmental Council will take
advantage of its presence in the Partners’ Village to
promote all that the region has to offer and increase
its tourist attractiveness, summer and winter alike.
It is also an opportunity for the Departmental
Council to promote golf among young people and
inspire future champions. Once again this year, the
Departmental Council will therefore give the most
talented young female golfers in Haute-Savoie the
chance to play in the Pro-Am alongside the top
women players on the planet.
