www.teachbytravel.com/reiter2017
Day 1:
Departure Flight.
Day 2: Sorrento
Land at Rome airport, meet
your Teach by Travel tour manager, and transfer to Sorrento
for time to relax and unpack.
Overnight in Sorrento.
Day 3: Sorrento
Gorgeous seaside scenery today
as you travel along the Amalfi
Coast to the town of Paestum.
Marvel at the three temples of
Paestum, built starting from
550 B.C, and including the Neptune Temple, arguably the best
preserved Dorian temple in the
world. Return to Sorrento for
overnight.
Day 4: Sorrento - Capri
A delightful day today - the Isle
of Capri and a ride to the Blue
Grotto, a sea cave adorned by
statues. The sunlight streaming into the cavern of the
Blue Grotto makes the water
a breathtaking shade of blue.
Free time for shopping and
strolling in Capri before returning to Sorrento for overnight.
Day 5: Sorrento - Rome
Depart Sorrento and transfer
to the fascinating ruins of Pompeii. See what life was like for
the citizens of Pompeii before
the eruption of Mt. Vesuvius
in 79 A.D on your guided tour.
Board your coach and head on
to Rome for overnight.
Day 6: Rome Tour - Scavi Tour
Morning guided city sightseeing tour of Rome. See the Pantheon, St. Peter in Chains, the
Colosseum and so much more,
including the Scavi tour of the
St. Peter's Basilica Necropolis.
The rest of the day is free to
explore on your own!
Day 7: Rome
A free day in Rome to fulfill your personal sightseeing plans, or do as the ancient
Romans did, and travel east of
Rome to the retreat of Tivoli
and Hadrian's Villa, with its gardens, temples, baths and lakes.
Hadrian himself supervised the
building of Hadrian's Villa (or
Villa Adriana) to commemorate his many travels. Return to
Rome for overnight.
Day 8: Rome
A final free day in Rome for
last minute shopping, or take
advantage of an optional
excursion to the archaeological site of Ostia Antica, which
in ancient times was situated
at the mouth of the Tiber River,
and was an important harbour.
See the impressive amphitheater, built in 12 B.C. and many
other well preserved ruins and
frescoes. Return to Rome for
dinner and overnight.
