Rita D’Arcangelo

Rita D'Arcangelo began her flute studies at the State Conservatory of Music in Pescara, where she
graduated with distinction, studying with Sandro Carbone. She holds degrees from the Royal
Northern College of Music in Manchester, the International Academy of Music in Milan, where she
studied with Raffaele Trevisani, and the Hochschule für Musik in Mannheim (Master in Orchestral
Studies and Soloist Diploma), where she studied with Jean-Michel Tanguy. It was her privilege to
participate in the first Italian masterclass held by Sir James Galway, and has since attended
masterclasses with Galway in Italy and Switzerland, where in Weggis (2008) she was awarded both
the Marc Rich Foundation Scholarship for Artistic Achievement and as winner of 1st prize selected by
popular vote, the 14k gold Nagahara flute headjoint. In other competitions she has won 1st prize as
winner of the Alexander and Buono International Flute Competition for 2011 in New York City. Ms.
D'Arcangelo gave her Carnegie Hall debut recital in October, 2011. She has held the position of
principal flautist of the Hyogo Performing Arts Center Orchestra (Japan) under the artistic direction of
Yutaka Sado and the CEA Filharmonia Gorzowska-Gorzow Orchestra (Poland) under the artistic
direction of Piotr Borkowski and since 2013 she held the same position at the United Chamber
Orchestra of Berlin. A very well established teacher and soloist, she has given classes of flute in
Europe and Asia and as a chamber musician she has collaborated with a variety of ensembles, Her
last double CD "Allegro con brio" won the Award of Excellence in the category Instrumental
Performance Solo at the Global Music Awards, Los Angeles, U.S.A.
Rita D'Arcangelo is a Nagahara Flutes Artist.
Karol Legierski
Studied with Prof. Tomasz Tomaszewski (principal violin at the “Deutsche Oper Berlin”) at the
University of Arts in Berlin. He has won the most important national competition in Poland. Plays
regularly with the most important European and Southd African Orchestras and he held the position of
principal violin at Filharmonia Sudecka in Poland. A very well established teacher and soloist, he has
given classes of violin in Europe and Asia and as a chamber musician he has collaborated with a
variety of ensembles

Studied with Davina van Wely in Amsterdan, Rosa Fair in Dusseldorf, the internationally acclaimed
soloist Kyung Wha-Chung, and with one of the New York Juilliard School's legendary violin teachers,
Dorothy DeLay. She has won the Bartók Violin Competition in the United States (where she also gave
concerts with conductor Leonard Slatkin), and the Dutch Music Prize, making her the only Dutch
violinist ever to have received this high award. As well as giving concerts all over Europe, USA, Asia,
Central and South America, she also appears regularly on Dutch Radio and TV. Theodora Geraets is
professor at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague, and has been playing in famous halls like The
Queen Elizabeth Hall in London, the Alter Oper in Frankfurt, Teatro Colon in Buenos Aires, and The
Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. She has made CD's for various labels, including a recording for Sony
Classical with the London Symphony Orchestra.
Zvi Carmeli

A graduate of the Curtis Institute of Music and the former Solo Violist of the Netherlands Radio
Philharmonic, Zvi Carmeli performs throughout the world as a violist simultaneously engaging in an
intensive career as a conductor. Carmeli appeared as soloist with orchestras such as the Kuopio
Symphony orchestra (Finland), the Klaipeda chamber orchestra (Lithuania), the European Community
Chamber Orchestra, Radio Philharmonic (Gorzowa, Poland), Concerto Soloists of Philadelphia, The
Harmonices Mundi Orchestra (Linz) and Salzburg Chamber Soloists He was the founder of the
SoLaRe String Trio - 1 st prize winner of the Netherlands Impresaariat Chamber Music competition,
performing extensively throughout Europe and the U.S.A. in venues such as the Concertgebouw
Amsterdam, the Herkules Hall Munich, the 92 nd St. Y New York and the Herbst Theater in San
Francisco. Carmeli has participated in several chamber music festivals in Europe and has recorded a
variety of chamber music, along with recordings for Dutch, Spanish, German, American and Israeli
Radio and Television productions. He’ s a teacher of Viola and Chamber Music teacher at the
Jerusalem Academy for and Dance, and also holds a position as chamber music teacher and
conductor at the Universität der Künste (UDK) - Julius Stern Institute, Berlin. He regularly gives
master classes at courses in Europe and Israel.

Matias de Oliveria Pinto

Born in Sao Paulo, Brazil, the cellist, conductor, arranger and composer Matias de Oliveira Pinto is
one of the most remarkable teachers in Berlin, where he lives since 1980. At the age of 18 he won a
competition held in Brazil to be admitted at the Herbert von Karajan Foundation. In Berlin, he took
part at the Berlin Philharmonic Academy and had classes with Eberhard Finke, principal soloist of the
Philharmonic. In Europe, he studied at the Berlin Musikhochschule and at the Franz Liszt Academy,
in Budapest . He also had master classes with Aldo Parisot, William Pleeth, Paul Tortelier and
Antonio Menezes. A very well established teacher and soloist, he has given classes of cello and
chamber music in many countries, such as Germany, France, Brazil, USA, Japan and Korea. Since
1991 giving classes at the Musikhochshule in Berlin, in 2005 he was appointed Professor at this
important institution. He is also chair of the cello Department at the Musik Hochschule in Munster.
He has recorder for many labels in Europe, such as Academy, Kreuzberg Records, Bella Musica and
Hungaraton Classics. He has founded and directed specialized editions for cello literature, such as
Edition Margaux and Neu Musik. In 2007 he founded the Cello Colors Label.
Matias de Oliveira Pinto is the director of the Modern Arts Sextet and the BICE (Berlin Improvising
Composers Ensemble). At the Julius Stern Institut, a music school related to the Berlin Musik
Hochschule, he gives classes to young talents, organizing European tours with a group of 12 brilliant
cellists. Since 2006, he is the Artistic Director of Celloherbst Festival, in Germany
