Follow your passion and persevere’
because ultimately hard work is what
helps you accomplish your dreams!!!
The Joyalukkas Group has rapidly expanded its foothold all over the globe since its inception in 1987. The group has grown at a
tremendous pace, with over 10 million customers, employing a highly committed & satisfied team of over 6,000 people in 10
countries. The phenomenal success of Joyalukkas has been driven by an unstinting commitment to quality, a fact that has been
widely recognised.
Take us through the journey from where you started and how
you’ve reached your current position?
We commenced are operations in 1987, with a single jewellery
showroom in UAE and with sheer determination, the support and
blessings of my family, friends and employees- we are today a
multi-billion dollar global conglomerate. Though jewellery
retailing remains our core business, the Joyalukkas Group’s other
business interests include Fashion & Silks - Jolly Silks, Money
Exchange - Joyalukkas Exchange, Malls - Mall of Joy, Realty Joyalukkas Lifestyle Developers & Luxury Air Charter - Joy Jets.
What are the factors that differentiate your brand from
competition?
Our thinking and belief that 'customer is king' helps us to
ensure we create relationships with customers and
they in turn become our brand ambassadors who
get their family and friends to us. 'Trust' is another
aspect we emphasize on, and over the past 25
plus years we have won the trust of over 10
million customers world-wide.
Is branded jewellery gaining more favour
from customers across India?
I think more than branded jewellery. its design
and variety that is more important to customers.
Today’s jewellery buyer has become more
discerning and very knowledgeable, they get to
know global trends very quickly and expect you to
offer those trends immediately. However, as retailers we
are investing in sub-brands where thematic jewellery collections
will be offered to our customers.
If you could change one thing about the business, what would it
be and why?
Being an entrepreneur, challenges excite me, hence I see every
problem or issue as a learning experience which will help me
become better and work harder to meet consumer expectations.
So I don't have anything that I am keen to change.
How was the FY 2014-15? Are you satisfied with the company’s
performance?
We ended the FY 2014 -15 on a good note, we fulfilled our
objectives which were set, our growth rate of 20% was consistent
and we grew as per plan.
What do you think was by far your best business decision?
To believe a jewellery retail business can be run like a
professional organization. We are the first jeweller to introduce
systems and practices to this business and see the merit of
taking professionally run jewellery retail to various parts of the
world. We are today in 10 countries and we plan to expand to
many more countries soon. The response we have received from
every new country or location we have ventured into just makes
us more ambitious.
Looking into the future, what are the problems that might arise
and could hamper growth?
Problems exist for every business. Not letting it affect you and
working around the problem is what makes a business
successful. Proper planning and being nimble is what helps you
meet every problem head-on and be prepared to face
any situation with the right frame of mind.
How do you see online jewellery sales develop in
India especially after the entry of Ebay, Amazon
and other start-ups?
We are following online jewellery business
trends closely and in the process of putting our
own e=commerce platform in place. We will
disclose and announce our plans when we are
ready to roll-out.
How can the jewellery industry evolve and
contest the growing consumer inclination
towards lifestyle products?
Through innovation and design, as long as we stay
relevant and keep delighting them with great designs and
innovative products, consumer interest in jewellery is here to
stay.
Whom do you consider as your role model? How has it made an
impact in your life?
My biggest role model is my father, who inspired me to become
an entrepreneur. There are many other great people I admire and
who inspire me in various aspects of life and business.
What advice would you like to give to the next generation?
Follow your passion and persevere’ because ultimately hard
work is what helps you accomplish your dreams.
Do you have any unfinished business agenda which remains to
be accomplished?
Many, everyday I wake up and feel I have just started. So yes,
there is a lot more to do and accomplish.

1. What role has Signature IIJS played over the years in transforming your business?
Pranay Marothi: At the show, we get to explore new designs as well as engage with existing and new exhibitors under one roof.
In addition to that, we also get to capitalize on more business opportunities as a result of better pricing being offered by the
exhibitors.
Tarun Kanwar: I have been a regular visitor at the Signature IIJS show ever since it was launched in Goa as a couture show. We
started our business with quite a few vendors in the previous editions of Signature IIJS and over the years we have grown our
business association with most of them considerably. This show definitely helps us in our efforts to focus and promote the
couture jewellery category.
Dilip Tulsiani: Signature IIJS plays very important role in our business as it helps us source a variety of trendy products at
competitive prices.
Kailash Mosun: We are wholesalers who have ventured into the retail business. A show like Signature IIJS play a vital role in our
business. It helps us source a wide variety of jewellery designs to offer to our retail customers.
In its endeavor to showcase India’s mammoth Gems and
Jewellery industry, the GJEPC hosted international
roadshows and door-to-door visits to promote Signature
IIJS in Iran, primarily in Tehran and Isfahan.
The objective was to make the top Iranian jewelers aware
and recognize India’s strength in jewellery design,
craftsmanship and finish. The roadshow was inaugurated
by His Excellency Saurav Kumar, Ambassador of India to
Iran which was attended by more than 70 buyers.
Attendees were briefed about the significance of the
Signature IIJS show keeping in view Make in India policy.
Door-to-door visits were made in major jewellery markets
in Tehran including Tejarat Market, Tijris Market, ARC City
Center Mall, Tendis Market, Khairmal Market, Saniati
Street, Mirdamad Market & Great Bazar. A lot of jewellers
offered their commitment to visit Mumbai for the show.
Manish Singhvi: The show gives us first-hand information of the latest trends in jewellery design displayed through various
exhibitors, which in turn helps us source a wider range of inventory for the buying season.
2. What new trends and styles in jewellery are you willing to source?
Pranay Marothi: Machine bangles, Kolkata pattern jewellery and trendy jewellery is what we plan to source at Signature IIJS
2016.
Tarun Kanwar: As an independent store we aspire to stay ahead of the design curve. We are always on the look out for new
designs in bridal, casual & elegant jewellery. In the machine made jewellery category, we prefer sourcing products that have
been fabricated using the latest technology in order to achieve better finishing.
Dilip Tulsiani: We look forward for sourcing new designs, stylish & trendy gold chains at the show.
Kailash Mosun: I am keen on sourcing gold chains, kundan jewellery, meena kari, and fusion jewellery along with traditional
jewellery.
Manish Singhvi: In the forthcoming show, I look forward for sourcing silver jewellery and kundan meena jewellery.
3. What is your business outlook for the buying season?
Pranay Marothi: We do feel optimistic about the season ahead. The market was weak before Diwali but with a drop in gold
prices and the wedding season ahead, we expect to do better business.
Tarun Kanwar: The business of jewellery is going through a challenging phase. From supply constraints, to ever increasing
competition, resulting in margin squeeze. For a business to remain stable, one needs to realign their businesses to the new
market dynamics and be ready to adapt to change. My feeling is that, this season, the demand for wedding jewellery will
continue to remain the key driver for growth.
THE INNER
CIRCLE
Dilip Tulsiani: The last season was slow. However, I do expect the forthcoming season to be good for business. Therefore,
Signature IIJS is the perfect place to source the latest jewellery collections from the best manufacturers and rejuvenate our
stocks for the busy seasons ahead.
Kailash Mosun: I believe that 2016 will be a good season for business. With the show being right at the start of the year, retailers
can create an inventory with a wider variety of designs.
Manish Singhvi: Generally, we exhaust our inventory after Diwali and replenish our stocks with the latest designs showcased at
Signature IIJS. I think exquisite couture jewellery will drive demand in the forthcoming season.
4. Are you able to meet potential new suppliers?
Pranay Marothi: In the previous edition of the show, we got to partner with good suppliers for machine made bangles. We are in
touch with many of them we met in the last edition. We look forward to pursuing new partnerships this year too.
Tarun Kanwar: Signature IIJS has grown immensely over the years The sizeable increase in the number of exhibitors and
visitors is validation in itself as a significant sourcing destination. One simply needs to plan their visit appropriately by doing prior
research on exhibitors in order to have productive meetings at the show.
An exclusive networking event
The Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council will host
an exclusive networking event on 5th February 2016 at JW
Marriott Sahar, Mumbai, post the grand inauguration of
the 9th edition of Signature IIJS 2016. It’s an event
comprising of pre-identified buyers, manufacturers,
exhibitors, and top 400 retailers of the country. As the
event brings together the finest talents representing the
Gems & Jewellery industry, it’s an opportunity for the
exhibitors to network, plus a chance to unwind with likeminded individuals over entertainment.
Dilip Tulsiani: At every Signature IIJS show, we get to meet new suppliers operating in different scales. One has the choice to
choose between large-medium-small exhibitors. I expect the forthcoming edition to outperform the last one with the increase
in the number of exhibitors participating.
Kailash Mosun: Yes, we do get to meet new suppliers along with reuniting with our old partners. Meeting new suppliers helps
us view and source jewellery and gemstones of the highest standards of design, craftsmanship and finish.
Manish Singhvi : Yes, Signature IIJS helps us to meet new suppliers to understand price comparison and get more information
about the latest trends.
5. How do you see the domestic demand for jewellery in the next 6 months?
Pranay Marothi: It should be good. If there is further reduction in gold prices, then it will be a really good trigger to drive more
demand.
Tarun Kanwar: Given the overall business outlook, I feel most of the jewellery sales are going to be occasion based only,
weddings being the primary driver. We might experience a lower than normal, in-store footfall resulting in lower impulse
purchases. However, I am quite hopeful that things would start looking better over the period of 6-7 months.
Dilip Tulsiani: I do feel optimistic about a revival in demand in 2016. We just need to work hard in recreating the magic that
consumers used to have with jewellery.
Kailash Mosun: With every downturn, an upswing is always round the corner. Business in 2015 was average, but I do expect a
turnaround in 2016.
Manish Singhvi: In the next six months, demand will gradually increase as a result of wedding season & NRI inflows.

ASSOCIATION SPEAK
Prem Kumar
Swarnkar Sarafa
Welfare Society,
Amritsar
1. How many members of your association are visiting Signature IIJS? Are you
encouraging your association members to attend Signature IIJS? Why do you
feel it is important for them to visit this show?
We definitely encourage all our association members to visit the Signature IIJS
show. It is essential for our members to get first hand knowledge about the latest
trends in jewellery, foster new interaction with trade and forge new partnerships.
This year, we expect around 45-50 association member of Swarnkar Sarafa
Welfare Society, Amritsar to visit the show.
2. What are your views on current state of retail business? What according to you
are the opportunities at the upcoming Signature IIJS?
Lately, there has been a slump in the retail market. But the future does look
promising. I do hope with the whole jewellery industry coming together, the show
will be catalyst in creating new business opportunities.
3. Signature IIJS is different from IIJS as it is purely a retail-centric sourcing
event. Moreover, it is much more compact and productive since visitors are
largely decision-makers. In what way is this beneficial for the visitors?
Maintaining good business relationships is very important to any industry. A show of
this stature and reputation, provides ample opportunities for the highest level of
management to sit across the table and make quick decisions.
4. According to you what steps do you suggest to increase consumption of
jewellery among consumers?
As jewellery businesses are facing some of their biggest challenges, it is essential for
the Government of India to step in to boost trade. For eg. reduced import duties and
no extra premium on bullion will definitely help the industry. At the same time, it is
imperative that jewellers make every extra effort to regain customer confidence
through transparency and better sales service.
5. Every retailer wants to grow their business. What steps needs to be taken to grow
retail business?
Retail businesses should empower their customers with the confidence about their
jewellery purchases. Transparent business practices, better sales and after sales
service, stronger advertising and promotion will all go a long way in retaining existing
customers and create opportunities to attract new customers.

STUDDED JEWELLERY
SIGNATURE CLUB
We are delighted to be given an opportunity to present our exclusive
products at this show which will provide us a platform to not only
showcase our craftsmanship but also with the opportunity to
strengthen existing business networks whilst building new ones
across India. The new jewellery trends of 2016 are definitely something to look
forward to. It has a strong vision on modernity especially when it
comes to diamonds. “Kosha” is going to be a trendsetter in the coming decade for its
solitaire look at affordable prices. Our designs are created keeping in mind the latest
trends coupled with indo-western fusion.
Signature IIJS offers us an ideal branding opportunity and a chance to
showcase our company’s strength. It also provides us with the perfect
platform to reach out to newer customers across different
geographical regions.
At Signature IIJS, we will display our latest collection- “ADAA’ which is
unique in itself. We will also showcase our new designs inspired by the
royal beauties of India and bridal jewellery.
Signature IIJS is a very serious B2B show. It only attracts serious buyers and decision
makers. Being such a niche show, it is never overcrowded and we get to spend quality
time with each visitor; hence the promise of business is always better in shows like this.
At Signature IIJS, we look forward to launch our new collection “The Weaving Star” and at
the same time showcase our new designs in jewellery featuring emerald and asscher cut
diamonds in illusion settings.
Despite the current slowdown, we do have high expectation from the Signature IIJS 2016
show.
Signature IIJS in comparison to IIJS has much higher business promise as the show is
compact and attracts only serious buyers and decision makers.

UPGRADES
INDUSTRY SPEAK
1) India has fast developed as a global jewellery manufacturing hub. What opportunity
does it present to JMA & its members?
With growing Global Presence and Global Quality demands, the JMA and its members are
under obligation of providing the best and most economical manufacturing solutions including
process automation. JMA members with Service and support commitment will be in vogue as
the new customer has timelines and targets to achieve and will select only fitting partners for
their requirement of everyday raw material and consumables. The Global Technology
manufacturers are looking for partners at each Indian hub and are willing to offer
their technical knowhow to suit customer’s requirements.
2) How do you foresee the coming year for the machinery / equipment
suppliers?
With the fast moving Technology, Efficient solutions are being continuously
required for manufacturing of jewellery. Customers will be looking at one stop
shop. The Machinery/ Equipment Suppliers will have to provide solutions that
are giving more productivity, more skill, space saving, alternatives to Labor
dependency and consistency in product development. The JMA members
foresee more and more investment in Machinery /Equipment right from Diamond
Testing equipment, Spectral Gold Analysis, 3D-Printing, Laser Applications, CNC,
Milling, Compact Refining, Ultra No-Touch-Polishing systems and Process Automation.
A Comprehensive package of Customised manufacturing setups which include Technology
and Process turnkey solutions to suit each investment budget. I feel there is a need of
economically priced Vacuum Pressure Casting Machine, which will match the performance of
imported casting machines.
4) IGJME will be held in conjunction with Signature IIJS which is largely attended by the
decision makers comprising of India’s leading manufacturers and retailers from pan
India. In what way is this beneficial for Italian exhibitors?
Italian Exhibitors will get to know the particular specifications that Indian customer is looking out
for and will get an exposure on designing new equipments almost tailor made to fulfil the mass
requirements. There will be opportunities of Joint Ventures, Technology partnership and
establishing Local manufacturing units to bring down the Equipment costs. Coming in
touch with the Decision Makers will always be a dream of any Equipment
manufacturer/Exhibitor, and the IGJME show will make this possible.
5) What are your business expectations from IGJME?
The JMA will be looking for Import Substitution opportunities.
The JMA members are always at the forefront as a Total Solution company and
the IGJME is a platform which will bring SME and MSME together. Entrepreneurs
wanting to setup new jewellery manufacturing unit can avail Machines, Tools,
Consumables and Support under one roof, to be on a fast track for rapid growth in
the right direction of making acclaimed products in Indian as well as Global jewellery.
The JMA will be looking forward of making a plea to the Council which in turn will make a
presentation to the government for reduction in imports duty enabling Manufacturers to
afford technology in order to compete and increase exports for the country.
3) Have you planned any Special initiatives / launches at IGJME?
New Entrepreneurs from all over India are willing to shop under one roof solution and that’s
what, we are offering at this IGJME.
Nickunj Shah - Chairman
Jewellery Machinery & Accessories - Manufactures & Traders Forum
Technology plays a significant role in the growth and development of any industry
and helps to prepare for the future. In this competitive world, every jewellery and
diamond company needs to embrace new technology. so we welcome the idea
and concept of IGJME.
EXHIBITOR COMMENTS
India is one of the most developed nations in all aspects especially in Gems &
Jewellery. The cultural diversity of this country shines through jewellery design.
IGJME 2016 will provide companies a platform to offer their cutting edge products
to manufacturers to elevate their production quality and bring it in line with
international standards and variety.
The future seems to be very bright and we are all very optimistic about the growth of
our industry. Since, we adhere to international standards, this gives us a chance to
partner with manufacturers in order to bring their products in line with the recognized international
production standards.
The show gives an opportunity to manufacturers of diamonds, gemstones and fine
jewellery to boost their capability and manufacturing competence. Besides exports
of machinery, the self-consumption of India market is also massive. Hence
machinery & jewellery shows go hand-in-hand and are beneficial to both exhibitor and visitor.
Ashish Shah
Moon Machinery Mart, Mumbai
India has plethora of opportunities and a huge market, and most of the Indian
jewellery companies are run by professional management. IGJME will give us an
opportunity to showcase our latest products, to a lot of potential East-Asia
customers as they see the need to improve processes in production and I am pretty
confident that this show will yield good results for us.
The fact that these two shows are aligned makes it more promising for us. I am hopeful that this shows
will yield good results.
We are very satisfied with our experience at IIJS and have experienced maximum interaction with
international brands representing gems & jewellery. Since this will be our first experience at IGJME,
we are anticipating that the whole industry comes in support of this very important show.
Deepak Pattni

I have visited the IIJS on many occasions, which takes place in August. However

GB Meccanica S. R. L., Italy
The Indian gems & jewellery market has always been promising, whether it’s
related to manufacturing or technology. Many companies focus on growing their
business opportunities in the jewellery sector. I see the concept of IGJME and
Signature IIJS as a great initiative as all the leading companies will come together
under one roof and this in turn will facilitate more business.
The success of this show mainly depends on what new products are showcased by
exhibitors which can offer their customers a competitive advantage in
manufacturing. Advantages could be in upgrading existing systems or a complete overhaul in the
area of technology and production.
This year at the IGJME, we will launch our new machinery for both- jewellery manufacturers and coin
minting businesses. Our new products are designed to achieve cost effectiveness in production.
We are hopeful that IGJME 2016 will draw a lot of decision makers in order to foster new interactions
and partnerships. Wishing everyone best of luck.
