Annual Report
Is Now
Welcome from the Chairman & Executive Director
Dear Friends,
Change continues in Tiffin and Seneca County, and despite economic
challenges, nobody in this town was standing still in 2015. We heard
plans of new restaurants, new retail and a new Justice Center. Area
manufacturers announced expansions and Tiffin was named an Ohio Main
Street Community. Old buildings were updated, street facades enhanced
and growth continued at both local universities. We started some strategic
planning ourselves to figure out how we could better support this change
and continue to provide support for programs and projects of significant
impact in our community. In April of 2016 we moved to our current location
at 31 S. Washington Street, right across from The Ritz Theatre. To better
reflect our focus and commitment to community, we’ve changed our name
to Tiffin Community Foundation.
The investment portfolios of The Tiffin Community Foundation ended the
year with net assets of $16,379,506. Although 2015 was not a good year
for earnings, the foundation was able to distribute $726,583 in grants and
scholarships.
Thank you once again for your support. We continue to make significant
impact through the generosity of all who support the mission of The Tiffin
Community Foundation.
With sincere gratitude,
Jodie Reinbolt,
Eric Shook,
Executive Director

New Funds Opened in 2015
The Sisters of St. Francis Funds
The Sisters of St. Francis Fund for Ministries and Retired Sisters supports
the Tiffin Franciscans’ ministries in the United States and Mexico. These
ministries include education and life skills for all ages in caring for creation
and the environment, education and practicums in conflict management and
peacemaking, and direct service to those who suffer from poverty. This fund
also supports care for their retired sisters.
The Sisters of St. Francis Fund for the Poor and the Elderly supports care for
those elderly persons who cannot afford to pay for their own care, particularly
those residing at St. Francis Home in Tiffin. No one who is unable to pay is
turned away.
The Bob Ames Memorial Scholarship Fund
The Bob Ames Memorial Scholarship is dedicated to the memory of the late Bob Ames, a
longtime champion of youth basketball in Tiffin, Bob organized and coached the area’s first
traveling youth basketball team, the Tiffin Storm in 1991, and was active in the program for
nearly two decades. His passion for teaching the game fostered lifelong friendships, selfconfidence, teamwork, competitive spirit and mental and physical toughness. Bob’s belief
that strong foundations are built upon the fundamentals of personal development left a
legacy of inspired young men and women under his tutelage. This scholarship is awarded
annually to a college-bound senior of the Tiffin Columbian boys’ basketball team.
The Dunn Family Scholarship Fund
The Dunn Family Scholarship Fund has been established by the
children of John L. Dunn in honor and recognition of the bond
between the Dunn family and the National Machinery Company
and their commitment to post-secondary education. John and
Mike’s grandfather, John E. Dunn began working at the National
in 1923 where he served as a foreman and directed the training
school. He retired after thirty-four years of dedicated service.
When his son, John L. Dunn graduated from college in 1940,
John E. encouraged him to apply for a job at the National. After
beginning work at the National, John worked on the factory floor and became a foreman,
and later served as vice-president of sales retiring in 1985 as senior vice-president. This
scholarship is awarded annually to a senior who is a son or daughter of a National Machinery, LLC employee or a Sentinel
Career and Technology Center Advanced Placement Program student employed by National Machinery, LLC. The recipient
will be the person who has best demonstrated, in the judgment of the scholarship trustees, the same quality of character
that John E. and John L. Dunn exemplified while employed at the National.
The Tiffin Historic Trust Endowment Fund
The Tiffin Historic Trust Endowment Fund of The Tiffin Community Foundation has been
established to provide for historical and architectural preservation of local landmarks
in Tiffin, Ohio. The Mission of the Tiffin Historic Trust is to promote the preservation
of our heritage as it is embodied in our homes, public buildings, neighborhoods,
treasured collections and written records. Throughout the Trust’s more than 40 years
of existence, its members have championed the preservation of our tangible links with
the past by advocating and explaining the values of historic preservation, by acquiring
properties and undertaking their preservation, by encouraging individual efforts to
restore private properties, and by resisting attempts to undermine the historic nature
and character of our community. 4 • Tiffin Community Foundation

The Unrestricted
Fund of The Tiffin
Community
Foundation
In 2003 The Board of Trustees of
The Tiffin Charitable Foundation
established an Unrestricted Fund
as an endowment to provide for the
future of Seneca County. Donors
place no restrictions on how these
funds are to be used, giving the
Foundation the greatest flexibility
in making grants to address the
emerging needs of the community.
The very first grant made from this
fund was the 2015 commitment to the
Rock Creek Trail.
If you’d like to make an “unrestricted”
gift to the Tiffin Community
Foundation, please mark your
donation cards, Unrestricted Fund.
