The Mass
As the Eucharistic Prayers near their conclusion, the
priest makes various intercessions. First, he prays
for all who will soon be nourished by the body and
blood of Christ. He prays that “they may become
one body, one spirit in Christ” (Eucharistic Prayer
III) — an echo of St. Paul’s words in 1 Corinthians
10:17: “Because there is one bread, we who are
many are one body, for we all partake of the one
bread.” The priest also prays that our participation
in Christ’s sacrifice might make us “an eternal
offering to you” (Eucharistic Prayer III) or “a living
sacrifice” (Eucharistic Prayer IV) echoing St. Paul’s
exhortation to the Romans: “Present your bodies as
a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which
is your spiritual worship” (Romans 12:1). Secondly,
the priest prays for the Church universal, naming
the pope and the local bishop and then interceding
for all bishops, clergy, and the entire people of God,
both the living and the dead. Some intercessions
include a universal scope, interceding for “all who
seek you with a sincere heart” (Eucharistic Prayer
IV) and praying that the sacrifice of the Mass
“advance the peace and salvation of all the
world” (Eucharistic Prayer III).
As we continue our conversation on the Liturgy of
the Eucharist next week, we continue to look at The
Anamnesis, Offering, Intercessions, and the final
Doxology.
Marriage Congratulations

CHRISTIAN FORMATION - LEARN IT
Kindergarten Information Night
Dear Parishioners,
My first school experience was
kindergarten at Martin City Elementary
School. My teacher was Mrs. Ward. I
remember drinking milk while she played
the piano, building with blocks, and
singing the ABC’s. Today most five year
olds have already had 1-4 years of preschool or
daycare experience. The kindergarten of today is
very different from the kindergarten I experienced
in 1970.
Kindergarten is an important step in a child’s
education. In 2012, parents have many options:
public school, private school, parish school, or
home school. Perhaps you have wondered what
Holy Trinity can offer your child compared to your
neighborhood school. What special programs do we
have? What resources are available for special
needs students? What is the difference between
full day kindergarten and half day kindergarten?
These questions and more will be addressed at the
upcoming Kindergarten Information Night.
Preschool parents are encouraged to attend, but
every parent or parent-to-be is welcome! RSVP’s
are encouraged but not required. We just want to
make sure we have enough chairs and
refreshments. This is a parent only event.
Gratefully,
