STAFF NEWS***
The first of our expected babies has arrived born on
January 24th to Mom and staff member Trish Manning, a baby girl Kinslee Raylynn. Congratulations
to Mom and dad and little brother.
Cat Country Radio station is one of several stations
that will be anticipating in the 5th Annual Radiothon
in support of the IWK, which will be Broadcast live
on January 31st. Jennifer Tattrie and her son Tucker
are doing one of the spots during the day talking
about Tuckers time at the IWK. He spent several
weeks there under going treatment for renal failure.
Not where he wanted to be as Halloween approached. Mom Jennifer who is a LPN here at the
lodge said he had an amazing Halloween while at
the IWK. She and Tucker both dressed up for Halloween and went around the units at the IWK, they
had a great time. While there Tucker continued with
his studies with a private teacher, had an opportunity
to touch the Stanley cup and meet Brad Marchand.
He attended a couple of Moosehead games and an
Avril Lavine concert. Jennifer states that the staff at
the IWK does everything they can do to make it feel
like a home away from home. They are caring and
compassionate staff. The money raised form the telethon will go towards purchasing equipment that has
made it possible for Tucker to be home, where he
can receive his dialysis. The equipment is on loan
and will be returned when they are finished with it.
Some staff are taking off to somewhere warm in the
near future. Donna and Frankie Langille are looking
forward to the warm beaches of Varadero in Cuba
and Barb McCallum and family are headed to sunny
Florida and I am headed to the Bahamas’ toward the
end of March. John Sellers is hoping to play some
golf somewhere warm.

helpfulness, cooperation, friendliness, and determination. This book was inspired by a Virtues Project

Singer song writer Christina Martin along with husband Dale Murray (a great Nephew to Betty Murray)
has written several songs about living with Alzheimer’s disease, she has released a song a week for
the month of January in conjunction with the Alzheimer’s Society. You can find these on Facebook or
Twitter by searching Christina Martin’s name. She
did an artist in Residency with Dr. Rockwell a well
know Physician who does Alzheimer’s research. She
also spent time with Dr. John Gray retired English
Physician and Geriatrician. Christina and Dale are currently on tour in Europe, but make their home in Cumberland County.
“When it comes to illness and disease there is the tendency for us to focus on the breakdown and digression. When I did my Artist in Residency with Dr. Kenneth Rockwood, I was privileged to witness new and
profound connections being made between people and
within individuals. This was very inspiring. As well,
within my own small but mighty community in Cumberland Country Nova Scotia I’ve seen how people
build new connections and how it really does make a
positive impact in the lives of people who need care,
both for the individual living with dementia, and for
caregivers. We must build new connections,
strengthen our relationships, and never stop learning
how to better care for each other. “Christina Martin.
