President`s Message - Singles International
Singles International December 2014-January 2015 Scuttlebutt President’s Message Hello S.I. Members, It’s hard to believe that December is here – where has the past year gone? Though Thanksgiving Day has passed, I remind you that this is a time when we recall the many things we can be thankful for – friends, health, safe travels, special times. I last spent the holidays with my family 3 years ago and I have enjoyed the time BUT I still have missed seeing and being with the many S.I. members whom I consider my family. It just makes me anxious to see you all again; I can hardly wait!! This month will be a busy one – Christmas and New Year’s rallies, both in Florida. And, perhaps there are other S.I. members getting together in other states. I hope each of you will have a wonderful time celebrating together. Then, we begin being even busier. Carol Preimesberger has worked hard preparing for the pre-rally for the Western Area rally; meet at the Spotlight Casino on January 3rd!! Right after that, there are two big RV shows – Quartzsite, Arizona and the Tampa RV Show, Florida. Lots of things to look at and buy as well as lots of RVs to go through and perhaps buy! Because we are so spread out and unable to have monthly get-togethers like other chapters, I feel it is important for us to make the effort to attend the prerallies and Area rallies because that’s how we can meet each other and spend time visiting and doing things together. As Charlie Adcock, our FMCA president says: “We are Family”. Coming up in February is the SEA Rally in Sarasota, FL, a brand new venue for a rally with lots of new places and things to do. In March, we have the FMCA Rally in Pomona, CA. The last week of April will be the INTO Rally at Shreveport, LA. We will be having our business meeting and election of new officers at that time. John Hubbard is our Nominating Committee Chairman and he and his committee will be contacting S.I. members to serve on our Board – we need members to step up and be willing to serve – even if it’s for just one year – and we need members to attend so we can have a quorum. In closing, I’m wishing each one a very Merry Merry Christmas. As a Christian, I celebrate this day as the one when Christ was born and not one where it is just buying gifts. Let us all be thankful for the many blessings we have received this past year. And, of course, HAPPY NEW YEAR!! May 2015 be a great year for everyone – a safe enjoyable year with good health, happy smiles and safe traveling (no breakdowns). Publication of Singles International Chapter of FMCA 4 Scuttlebutt December 2014-January 2015 5 Western Area Rallies (c0ntinued) WESTERN AREARALLY IN INDIO January 6-11 There is so much to do in the Palm Springs area you don't want to miss this rally. A trip up the tram is a must but bring warm clothes because although it might be 80 in the valley it could be snowing on the mountain. There are beautiful dessert gardens and you can't leave the area with out trying a date shake. Bob Svitak has volunteered to lead the caravan into the rally on the 6th. We will be staying in the electric area near the frustrated maestros. This will give you the opportunity to listen to tapps as you say good night at the end of a fun filled rally day. Please contact Carol Preimesberger at 714-231-1414 or email her at [email protected] to make reservations for the pre-rally or for more information SE Area Pre-rally February 8-10 The SE Area Pre-rally will be held at the Sarasota South Elks #2495; 5680 Rosin Way. Take Exit 205, Go West on SR –72. In about a mile, turn right on Rosin Way. Elks is behind Land Rover car dealership. We will be dry camping so come with full water and propane and empty grey and black tanks. Space is limited to the first 25 coaches so you MUST contact Betty Kirby at 386-774-0656 or 386-801-2360 or Dale Koepka 404-583-8197 [email protected] In answer to why we just can't just go into fairground 2 days early, we would not be able to park together if we did that. We will have to gather at another place. For those wanting or needing electricity, contact Sun & Fun RV Resort Rolling into SEA: SEA (South Eastern Area) Rally February 11-14, 2015 The SEA Rally will be held at the Sarasota County Fairgrounds, 3000 Ringling Blvd. in Sarasota, FL. Singles will be camping in non-electric because electric is sold out. Please contact FMCA to register, but also contact Martha Werre 352-787-9290 or Dale Koepka 404-583-8197 as we need to tell them the total number of sites to reserve for Singles. Volunteers are needed to man the information booth. If you can volunteer, please contact Martha Werre ASAP. 352-787-9290 For those not coming from the pre-rally, From 1-75 Take Exit 210, Fruitville Road SR-780 West to fairgrounds on the left. Singles International All Singles Dance Rally Plan now to attend the Singles International All Singles Dance Rally. April 5-16 Please use registration form on page 8. International Rally (INTO) Shreveport, la April 26-30, 2015 We will hold our Annual Meeting with election of officers at the INTO Rally in Shreveport, LA. We need to have a quorum present so make your plans now to join the caravan at any point along the way of the caravan. Register with FMCA for the rally. Pre-rally information forthcoming and will be on the website and in the February Scuttlebutt. Publication of Singles International Chapter of FMCA 6 Scuttlebutt December 2014-January 2015 7 Upcoming Elections I know it’s pretty early but I thought I would mention a few things for everyone to think about and plan for. I’m suggesting that our next Business Meeting and elections take place at the INTO rally, held at Shreveport, LA, April 26-30. This takes place shortly after the Dance Rally in Bandera, TX and before Cloud 9 and Branson get togethers. If not, at the INTO rally, we have the Great Lakes Rally, Goshen, IN, June 3-7 or the FMCA Reunion Rally in Madison, WI, July 29-Aug. 1. To hold an election, we need a minimum of 15 chapter members to have a quorum. Also, at Perry, we elected a Nominating Committee. John Hubbard is the chairman with Betty Howard and Rosalie Comisky also on the committee with Betty Kirby as an alternate. We really need five people so I’m asking for volunteers to serve on the committee. We also need suggestions and volunteers for officers. I do know that some of our current officers prefer not to hold an office after their term expires. This will create vacancies. So please give much thought to this issue. The future or our Singles International chapter depends upon cooperation from all of us.
