Starting in August, the local Waynesboro Papa
John’s has agreed to donate 10% of all of their
sales to WSC on the first
MONDAY (August 1st is
the first Monday!) of each
month.
This applies to sales made
at anytime during the day
on the first MONDAY of the
month, and includes both
takeout and delivery orders.
In addition, Papa John’s is
offering a special deal to
all WSC members and staff
that is valid on the first
MONDAY. Brandy will tell
everyone about that as we
get closer to the kickoff
This summer we once
again have funding from
the Fan Care program.
This is a program sponsored by the Virginia Department for Aging and
Dominion Virginia Power.
Through it, eligible persons can receive a fan at
no charge to themselves.
There are also a limited
number of small window
unit air conditioners that
are part of the program.
date—August
1st..
This is a wonderful outreach
to the community by Papa
Johns! And our
thanks to Program Coordinator Brandy
Wade for making the contact and arrangements for
this event.
It is going to go on month
after month—so make your
plans to have pizza on the
first MONDAY. This offer
is only good for the local
Papa Johns, so if you live
out of the area, arrange to
go by and take a pizza
home with you!

The Lunch Bunch program offers the chance for our members to try local restaurants
together. We offer van transportation to the restaurant and
back to the center. Members
are responsible for paying for
their own lunch.
In June, members checked out
the new Green Leaf Grill on
Main Street. This month,
we’re going to enjoy Mexican
fare at El Puerto on July 15th.
In July, we have several
different opportunities to
get out and about with
your friends from the Center.
All of these are right after
lunch and before taking
people home. So—
Everyone who rides the
vans into the center on
these days, will go on the
trip because the vans will
leave directly from that
destination to take people
back to their homes. If you
do not want to go to these
places and you rely on the
vans for transportation,
you’ll want to stay home.
July 6—Cheese Shop
Everyone seems to enjoy a
periodic shopping trip to
the Cheese Shop in Stuarts
Draft.
Since we only have
one van going, you
must sign-up in advance for this trip.
Signups are done
when the van is full.
The van will leave at
11:15 and arrive
back by 1:30 so everyone can catch their
rides home. A menu
is on display with the
sign-up sheet.
July 7—Avante, 1:00 p.m.
We’re going to spread joy
to others by going over to
Avante Nursing and Rehab
on July 7. We will arrive
there at 1:00 p.m. Member Alice Sensabaugh will
bring her guitar and lead
everyone (us and the residents at Avante) in a sing-a
–long. We will depart between 1:30 and 1:45 to
head home.
July 19—Kline’s
Ice Cream
Oh what do we
crave on these
hot summer
days– ICE
CREAM! The owner of
Kline’s Dairy Bar in
Waynesboro has once
again offered to treat our
members to a free single
dip cone or cup. We will
For the Summer,

of the month.

head over after lunch on July
19th for this treat. Each summer since they opened, Kline’s
has given us this gift. Be sure to
thank them
for their support!
July 20—
Hilltop Berry
Farm
On July 20,
we’ll head out to Hilltop Berry
Farm and Winery in Nelson
County to pick fresh blackberries. The vines are very close to
the parking area and the picking
is easy! As the name says, this
is also a winery. Those that are
interested may check out that
portion of the business. Bring
money if you want to buy some
berries or some wine.

and lunch is served at 11:45 a.m.

The Center’s quarterly Pool
Tournament will be held on
July 19– 21 in the Recreation
Room. The ladies will have an
8-ball tournament . The men
will also be playing 8-ball with
a requirement to call each
shot. Tournament play will
follow B.C.A. rules. The tournaments are open to any Center members.
It seems that each tournament brings new champions to
list on our plaque. Will this be
the time that a previous champion claims the title again?
Clyde Young, will once again
officiate. Sign up by July 17 to
to compete.
The champions from the April tournaments, Rosemary Stepnowski and
Charlie Shelton, stand with tournament official Clyde Young (center).
