The Great Serengeti
Sanctuary Kusini is the only permanent tented camp in
the southern Serengeti, an area so remote that the camp
needs its own airstrip. Built around a spectacular rocky
outcrop, or kopje, the camp’s communal areas include a
dining area, lounge and library, as well as a campfire. The
views from the kopje are simply sensational – the perfect
spot for sundowners and stargazing.

Spacious Tents
Scattered around the main kopje, the twelve en suite tents are extremely spacious at 48 square metres.
Large private decking with comfortable furnishings extends in front of each tent, with carefully thought
out views of the plains below where zebra, buffalo and lion are a common sight year-round. Each tent
also has its own personal attendant to look after guests during their stay.

Game Viewing
Every year the Serengeti, a World Heritage site, plays host to the epic wildebeest migration. One of the
highlights is the calving season where one sees the arrival of newborn zebra and wildebeest take place in
the plains surrounding Sanctuary Kusini. But there’s more to the Serengeti than the migration, with the
area around the camp particularly noted for lion, leopard, cheetah and even rhino.

Serengeti Cheetah Project
Sanctuary Kusini is a proud supporter of the Serengeti
Cheetah Project whose research monitors the
demographics of the park’s cheetah. Since Sanctuary
Kusini developed the cheetah watch activity in 2009,
guests have supplied valuable information on over 60
different cheetah many of which had not been seen for
years. In recognition, the Cheetah Project has named
one long-lost cheetah “Kusini”.
