Club Meeting & Party at Steven’s Home
November is coming to an end and Christmas is fast approaching. With that in mind,
everyone be sure to mark their calendars and plan to attend the Christmas Party and social
gathering at Alan Stevens' house. There will be Dirty Santa gift exchange and lots of laughter.
The Crescent Ski Council Fall Conference was held in November in Asheville, NC and
several of your club officers and members attended various functions during the weekend. The
Dry land Ski Clinic by Appalachian Mountain's French-Swiss Ski School and Jim Cottrell was
very informative regarding technique on shaped skis and everyone came away with new
insights. There were meetings on upcoming trip choices (January '07) with presentations by
representatives of Park City, Utah and Jackson Hole, Wyoming. The destination selected by
Crescent members will be announced at the next meeting by Lisa Beregi.
Additionally, there were meetings held by Administrative and Racing Committees as
well as a clinic by Kanawha's Gary Cassier on Ski Tuning & Waxing that was well attended.
Saturday night most of us went to the Claxton Farm for the Asheville Ski Club's Ullerfest
dinner and bonfire. We were treated to live music for listening and dancing under the stars. The
weather was clear and cool and perfect for star-gazing so Ken Lumsden of Winston-Salem's
club set up a telescope and we did some of that, too.
We finished the weekend with a Crescent Board of Director's meeting on Sunday
morning attended by Jim Maerder and myself as ETMM officers.
December will be a busy month for everyone, I know, but if you haven't yet done so, go
skiing soon. Check the local ski hill websites or call them for a conditions report. You may be
taking a weekend trip or a trip out west very soon, so get out there and get your skis legs back
under you.
We hope to see you at the Christmas Party and again on the ski slopes.
Mark Dison
This will be your last issue unless you rejoin for 2005-2006 season.
Club meeting & party will be the first Tuesday of December at Alan Steven’s home starting from
6:00PM to 6:30PM
(Directions will be under 2005-2006 LOCAL TRIPS & EVENTS.)
EVERYONE WELCOME!! BRING A FRIEND!!

HOW DO YOU DECIDE WHO TO MARRY?
1. You got to find somebody who likes the same stuff. Like, if you like sports, she should like it that you like sports,
and she should keep the chips and dip coming. Alan, age 10
2. No person really decides before they grow up whom they're going to marry. God decides it all way before, and you
get to find out later who you're stuck with. Kirsten, age 10
WHAT IS THE RIGHT AGE TO GET MARRIED?
1. Twenty-three is the best age because you know the person FOREVER by then. Camille, age 10
2. No age is good to get married at. You got to be a fool to get married. Freddie, age 6 (very wise for his age)
HOW CAN A STRANGER TELL IF TWO PEOPLE ARE MARRIED?
1. You might have to guess, based on whether they seem to be yelling at the same kids. Derrick, age 8
WHAT DO YOU THINK YOUR MOM AND DAD HAVE IN COMMON?
1. Both don't want any more kids. Lori, age 8
WHAT DO MOST PEOPLE DO ON A DATE?
1. Dates are for having fun, and people should use them to get to know each other. Even boys have something to say
if you listen long enough. Lynnette, age 8 (isn't she a treasure)
2. On the first date, they just tell each other lies and that usually gets them interested enough to go for a second date.
Martin, age 10
WHAT WOULD YOU DO ON A FIRST DATE THAT WAS TURNING SOUR?
1. I'd run home and play dead. The next day I would call all the newspapers and make sure they wrote about me in
all the dead columns. Craig, age 9
WHEN IS IT OKAY TO KISS SOMEONE?
1. When they're rich. Pam, age 7
2. The law says you have to be eighteen, so I wouldn't want to mess with that. Curt, age 7
3. The rule goes like this: If you kiss someone, then you should marry them and have kids with them. It's the right
thing to do. Howard, age 8
IS IT BETTER TO BE SINGLE OR MARRIED?
1. It's better for girls to be single but not for boys. Boys need someone to clean up after them. Anita, age 9 (bless
you child)
HOW WOULD THE WORLD BE DIFFERENT IF PEOPLE DIDN'T GET MARRIED?
1. There sure would be a lot of kids to explain, wouldn't there? Kelvin, age 8
And the #1 Favorite is..... HOW WOULD YOU MAKE A MARRIAGE WORK?
1. Tell your wife that she looks pretty, even if she looks like a truck. Ricky, age 10

CSC Fall Conference
The weekend of November 4-6 a few of us
ETMMites ventured to Asheville for the Fall
Crescent Ski Council Conference. It was a funfilled weekend, starting off with a much needed
Happy hour at a local ski shop. We browsed the
pre-season ski equipment specials to gear up for
race season, had plenty of finger foods and
beverages, and got to mingle with the other
Crescent members. Some of the ski industry
representatives who help us with our trips and
racing were there to join us for the weekend as well.
On Saturday, there were plenty of workshops to
attend; a great presentation was given by Jim Cottrell of the
French-Swiss Ski School to help us with our skiing technique.
He definitely enlightened many of us with the "new" way of
skiing on shaped skis. We even got to attend a workshop on
waxing and sharpening our skis to hopefully reduce our race
times. For those interested in long distance trips, a presentation
of the upcoming Australia/New Zealand trip was given leaving
no doubt that it's the trip to attend for some great adventure and
beautiful sights. Later that evening, Ullerfest was in full swing
with live music, dancing, wonderful food and drink, plenty of
company, and an inferno of skis. There's no way that cold
weather and snow can't come our way after that celebration fit
for a God!
Sunday was a day for our officers to get together to plan
events, Thanks to all of them for their hard work and
dedication! Without them our winter season would just be cold.
Meanwhile, the hot tub bubbled for one more moment of
relaxation prior to the drive home.

Race Kickoff Party
The Race Party at the Mabry’s home on the 18th of November was a cool brisk night, a good sign of
things to come for the race season. Here’s hoping. If you missed it, you missed excellent food and
fellowship and best of all was the surprise 50th birthday party for Rick Bates. He got several gifts that any
old fart could use, a walker, cane, and an assortment of other gifts. There are more pictures on the web of
this and you can get a good laugh at Rick’s birthday gifts. If you did not get signed up for racing you can
sign up with Mark Mabry. The form can be found on the web site under racing or you can get one from
Mark Mabry at the Christmas party.

Hello CSC clubs,
Specials
Subaru of America and Crescent Ski Council have set-up a special buying program. Any person that has been
a member of your club for six months or longer, each club data base person must verify this is eligible to receive a
Subaru VIP certificate to purchase a new Subaru. Any club member wishing to purchase a new Subaru must contact
the club data base person. The data base person will call me and state that that person has been a member of a Crescent
club for six months or longer. I will forward the information to Subaru of America. Then the club member wishing to
purchase a new Subaru will receive the necessary paperwork in the mail.
I am asking that each club president and data base person read the attachments that have been sent to
me by Subaru. If this program is successful, I am hoping that Subaru will continue the program. There are no
guarantees that it will be extended! The information from Subaru is pretty straight forward. If you have any questions,
after reading the attachments, e-mail me and we will try and address your questions or concerns.
