Guest artist Erik
Chapman, violinist with
the Royal Philharmonic,
London, England, wowed
the audiences with
‘Fiddle vs Violin’ last
October. He presented
classical and folk tunes
from the early 1500’s to
current composers in a
fun and engaging style
for hundreds of children.
Musicians from WTAMU
and a local Bluegrass group accompanied him
to make Texas history come alive!

Back by popular demand – children’s author Gary Hogg inspires young writers
Last year’s survey from teachers who brought their students to see the author program at the Globe-News Center,
indicated their zeal for his return visit. This year, generous funding from our donors allowed Mr. Hogg to present half-day
writing workshops free to the following WOWW schools: Panhandle Elementary, Gus Birdwell Elementary in Spearman,
Stratford Middle School, Texhoma Elementary, Gateway Elementary in Borger, Mimi Farley Elementary at Boys Ranch,
Eastridge & Bivins Elementary in Amarillo. October 8, 2012 Mr. Hogg will present two programs at the Globe-News
Center and offer free writing workshops to 18 WOWW schools who attend the program, thanks to the Josephine
Anderson Charitable Trust.
POWWOWW
The 1st POWWOWW (Panhandle Opportunity With Window On a Wider
World) was held in Stratford last fall during the week that children’s
author Gary Hogg was presenting writing workshops to WOWW schools.
Thanks to BA & LeRayne Donelson who hosted the event, community
patrons from Stratford, Dalhart, Dumas,Texhoma, Spearman, Borger and Amarillo were invited to learn
how partnering with education foundations, businesses, schools and non-profit organizations creates a
‘win-win’ for our children.
Thank you to the following wreath sponsors
