Our thanks to Carol and Jeff Deeter for inviting our region to SoCal’s July
meet at the impressive Mercedes Benz Classic Center and the superb lunch
at the Newport Bay Club.
We are very appreciative of our region members who host meets. We wish to
thank Nanette Gerth and George Chambers for hosting the September Newport
Harbor Cruise that was so much fun for those who attended. Paul Katson, our
Region Representative to British Car Council, and host for the British Car Day
reported: “I want to thank Tom Wright, Mike Faircloth and Frank Hamad who

helped set up the meet field on Saturday.” Steve Kirby, president of the BCC,
is grateful for everyone’s efforts. Orville Bingley’s 1999 Silver Spur III was our
club’s first place winner for “Best Rolls-Royce” and Frank Taliaferro’s 1913 Ghost was second for Rolls-Royce,
however the 1913 Ghost took Best of Show honors. That’s Best of Show for two years in a row for RROC. John
Ellison took the award for best picnic with Bentley. These wins are great news!
The July - August issue of Silver Coast News reported the attendance of our region members to the 56th Annual
National Meet in Stevenson, WA. We are so proud of the members who came all the way to Washington State. We are especially proud of those who drove and those who received the well-deserved awards. The November
11th Meet will be a review of the National event. Lou and Valerie Sutter have graciously offered their home for
the Photo Show. We then drive a scenic route to Coronado, for a bring your own picnic at Bay Side Park. No
alcohol in the Park. After lunch all are invited to come to our home for dessert and to toast to the winners of the
awards both at the National Meet and at the British Car Day.
Once again Eileen Dilger Administrative Assistant for RROC Headquarters reports that our Silver Coast News is
one of the six outstanding publications of the club! Thanks Dennis for the great job you do and for the advertising you obtained which helps pay for the cost of the larger number of color pages of our beautiful newsletter! Technical information is a very important part of our club, thank you Tom Wright for the “Summer Winter Valve
Cleaning” article.
Jean Ely’s “Tour of Normandy and Monet’s Gardens” let us relive the delightful time we had with the RREC 20hp
Register in May. We four toured in our 1926 20 hp, GMJ12, “Great Motoring Joy.”
The Flying Lady’s July-August articles are interesting: the write up about the 2007 Italian Concours d’Eleganza
Villa d’Este cites. It is interesting to note that the opposite situation of exchanging coachbuilders happened with
Princes Elizabeth’s 1950 dark green Phantom IV (4AF2) with H.J Mulliner body. When she became Queen
Elizabeth II, the car was restored and repainted by Hooper, the official coachbuilder to the Royal Family, in the
Windsor’s Royal family garnet and black clan’s colors. The same issue’s article about “The Ghost Centenary
Celebration in the U.K.” has excellent pictures of the most unusual Ghost bodies, many of which we had the
pleasure of seeing at the RREC 50th Anniversary Rally at Kelmarsh Hall. Please see the article in this issue. In this same The Flying Lady the articles about Ann Klein, Pioneer Woman Car Collector are really interesting.
Rob and I had the pleasure of meeting Ann, and having our Mark VI evaluated by her. We will never forget
when we attended our first National Meet in Natural Bridge Virginia in 1965, with three other couples we stayed
at Herring Hall a guest house a few miles from Natural bridge. At night we could hear the distinctive sound of
Ann Klein’s 4 1/2 liter W.O. Bentley roaring back and forth on the narrow country road. Ann had transported her
Bentley in a van because she did not like to drive the Bentley in towns, and was driving the required 100 miles
to qualify her car for judging. Ann really enjoyed driving that car fast and only used the clutch for shifting into
first gear when stopped.
Our condolences go out to Pat and Sig Hofland on the passing away of their son, Jeff. We also are sad to report
the passing of Frances Gay Webb, Rob’s mother and my wonderful “Mom” at age 103 and 1/2. We thank you
for the sympathy notes we have received.
December 9th is fast approaching; Rob and I are looking forward to a big turn out for the Annual Christmas
Banquet and Awards Party. Please mark your calendars. Ivonne

tomorrow. We sailed past the location of John Wayne’s former home. It has been torn down
and a lovely and larger home built in its place. Nicholas Cage owns the home right next door. We spotted John Wayne’s former ship. It was a converted mine sweeper and would accommodate many, many guests.

hat a beautiful, sunny day for our arrival in Newport Beach and the much anticipated
Hornblower cruise. We were met by our hosts George Chambers and Nanette Gerth
and preceded to board our Hornblower yacht. Upon entrance, we were handed a glass of
champagne, and we located our tables. As the yacht pulled out of port, we found our way to the
wonderful buffet table. Whatever your favorite brunch
repast, it was available to be
chosen. Most of our group
took advantage of a little bit of
each item since it was so hard
to choose. We enjoyed lively
conversation as we partook of
the delicacies, making friends with new members while partaking of the wonderful scenery. Then it was off to the dessert table to top off the wonderful meal.

TECHNICAL: Cool Cloud

W
hen I got my 1958 Silver Cloud (SFE 423) several years ago, it came from a gentleman in the southern
Midwest that we here in San Diego might affectionately refer to as a “Redneck”. It had some interesting
engineering refinements. One of those refinements is the subject of this article.
The Cloud 6 cylinder engine uses a radiator that has a small cap on the right side that is essentially open to
the atmosphere and connected to a down tube that runs down the side of the radiator to the road below. When
the car overheats water and or coolant simply blows out of this tube to the ground. When I rebuilt the engine on
this car, I cleaned out the block. It was evident that this car had done plenty of
“overflowing” since the block was about half full of mud, grunge, rust, gloop,
goo, and some things unidentifiable. The afore mentioned owner had decided
to fix this incontinence problem by attaching a radiator overflow tank.

This refinement consisted of a rubber hose going to an old drinking flask that
once held about a cup of booze.
I had seen early Clouds with pressure caps that had been put in place of the original screwdown cap, but didn’t
like the look. I wanted something a little less conspicuous. A search through the Mcmaster-Carr catalog showed a
brass and stainless steel “adjustable” pressure relief valve that was very small (part # 48935K25 at a cost of $5.85
ea.). This valve could also be reversed to work as a vacuum relief valve with adjustablility from 0 to 20 PSI and
0 to 30 inches of mercury. I ordered 2 of these and attached them in tandem. One is set for 8 pounds pressure;
the other is set to 2 inches of vacuum. The entire affair was
then connected to the down tube where the previous owner
had already cut the tube.

The pressure valve raises the boiling point from 212 degrees
to about 236 degrees. Both valves are in an overflow tank set
on the frame under the generator. Should the car overheat, the
coolant would be caught in the tank, not on the road. When
the system cooled back down the vacuum valve would open
and draw the expelled coolant back into the radiator.
To keep track of the temperature I made a small bracket that
mounts to the inside of the open cubby hole in front of the driver (right-hand car). This holds a temperature gauge
and oil pressure gauge. These can easily be seen even at night. I have heard of cloud owners carrying a flashlight
to be able to see the dash gauges at night. These modern
gauges are out of the way and don’t prevent me from getting
the things in the cubby… papers, tire pressure gauge, small
flashlight. etc. etc.

Since this adaptation the car has run great for the last year
and a half on the outskirts of San Diego California where the
summer temp is in the 100 degree range and winter in the 20’s
… never over heats… and doesn’t leave “puddles”.

Since the previous owner had cut the overflow tube to attach his refinement
to the system, I thought maybe I could use this to do some of my own re-engineering. It is well known that putting pressure in the cooling system will raise
the boiling point of the coolant at approximately 3 degrees for every pound
of pressure. There are limits to this, as you will eventually blowout the hoses and/or the radiator itself. Modern
cars run pressure caps of 18 to 20 psi, thus raising the boiling point quite a bit.

e will be gathering at Lou and Valerie Suter’s home, 4446 Point Loma Ave, San Diego, CA
92107 at 10:00 a.m. for a continental breakfast. We will be socializing as we view a video
presentation of pictures of the RROC National Meet in Stevenson, Washington.
This will be followed by a driving tour from Point Loma to Coronado. We will enjoy some
wonderful scenery as we caravan. The drive will end at Bay Side Park in Coronado. Bring
your own food, drinks, utensils, and chairs for a picnic at the park. (No alcohol in the park,
please.) Driving maps will be provided at the Suter’s home.
After the picnic, we will walk (less than a block) to the home of Rob & Ivonne Webb to toast the
winners (eight awards were garnered by members of our region), view their cars and trophies,
and - oh yes - enjoy dessert.

he RROC-San Diego Region Board of Directors met at the home of Chairlady Ivonne Webb on Saturday
morning September 20, 2007. Coincidentally the Webbs live about 1/2 block from the north shore of
Coronado Island and coincidentally the 9th of 10 world wide Red Bull Air Races was scheduled for that same
afternoon over San Diego bay. The following collage is a small sample of that treat. The winner of this race: Paul Bonhomme in Red & White No. 55 (See his photo on page 2 “Inside this Issue”.)

50th Anniversary Celebration
elmarsh Hall, Northamptonshire, was the venue where at least 2500 people gathered, June 15th-17th
2007, for the golden jubilee of Rolls-Royce Enthusiasts Club. There were 28 judging classes, about 241
prewar and 703 post war automobiles registered for the event, not counting vendors and visitors.
RROC celebrated its 56th National meet, with “Grandeur in the Gorge of the Columbia River,” August 7th11th, 2007. RROC was founded in 1951. The first president was Dr. Sam Shoup. The British R-R.E.C. followed six years later. Coincidentally our friends David and Jane Else, members of the 20 hp register, the
group with which we participate on their annual tours, are the proud owners of the 20 hp that once belonged
to Dr. Shoup On Friday 15 June, Bonham’s Auctioneers gave a reception by invitation with a donation for charity, in the big
tent where they were exhibiting the automobiles and memorabilia that was going to be auctioned the next day. In typical English weather, it
had rained for several days
and when we approached the
field it had become a muddy
mess, we parked GMJ12 on
the grass, fortunately I had
taken a pair of rainy weather
shoes and we proceeded
to the gathering. We look forward year to year to seeing

friends. Besides quite a numand the usual British crowd, we
saw a few American friends
who had come to the Silver
Ghost endurance rally in
Scotland. This year there appeared to be more German,
French, Spanish, Italian and
other nationalities than in
the past.
Saturday was again rainy so
we stayed away from the
field. We went sightseeing and
to buy Wellington boots. On
Sunday we entered the field
from a difference entrance
and we were directed to Class
Entry 5, the section for 20
hp. Fortunately the sun shone
from early morning, and
there was a slight breeze. The
rain from prior days had
soaked in and the field was
fairly dry, I could switch my
“Wellies” for shoes. GMJ12
now has a pair of “Wellies”
permanently stored with the
umbrellas. The weather
was perfect to look at cars and
visit with friends and make
new acquaintances. Due to
the number of cars, we did
not try to see them all, but
gravitated to the Pre-War
area.
There were 56 Silver Ghosts in
Class No.1, it was the biggest number I have ever seen
in one place. At noon the
parade of Silver Ghosts took
place, it is incredible to see
so many different body styles
in such beautiful condition. We may have seen seven
Springfield Ghosts. We
were happy to see our friends from the United States: Victoria and Alan Campbell in their 1913 Woodall Nicholson
Tourer, chassis 2239; Mermie Karger in her 1913 Saoutchick Tourer chassis 2442; David Morrison in his 1923
RRCCW Pall Mall Tourer Chassis 146JH; Gary and Diane Cerveny in their 1924 Replica Skiff 140AU. The big
turn out was because most of the Silver Ghosts that had participated on the Scottish Tour came to the annual
Rally. We found out that of the 60 Silver Ghosts that went to Scotland: 27 were from the UK, 17 USA, 10 Australia, 2 Hong Kong, 2 New Zealand, 1 Ireland, and 1 South Africa.
By 1:30 p.m. the winners of the concourse had been chosen. First the touring class winners went in the parade
ring to collect their awards and display the winning cars. At 2:00 p.m. the most elegant in show trophy winner
was announced, at 2:30 p.m. Concours prize awarding started.
At 3:35 there was a fly over display by the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight. We watched the RAF’s oldest
WWII aircraft with Merlin Engines: a Lancaster four engine bomber, and Spitfire and Hurricane fighters. Some
of these historic aircraft literally have been restored from scrap. Some of the British remembered the sound of
those engines from their childhood days during the Second World War and are grateful to the valiant RAF who

defended Great Britain. These annual National Rallies are the time to renew acquaintances and to see friends. For instance the 20hp
Registrar organizes and invites, at noon, all members of the register for finger food and libations usually low
alcohol content wine. This time a couple of members, who participated in the Tour to Normandy, donated their
tour gift, a dozen bottles of “bubbly” from Alsace, to the occasion. While at the 50th Anniversary Rally we had the pleasure of spending some time with the president of RROC,
Robin James and his wife Michelle, David Evans the British member of the RROC Foundation and his wife
Wendy and we also saw rather briefly, Gil Fuqua treasurer of RROC. We invited our second cousins that live in
Burnham Woods, Jeanette Wanless Emanuelson her husband Mark Emanuelson and their 6 years old daughter
Linnea. While we were with them John Love, who is one of the first friends we made when we joined RROC,
and who later became president of RROC from 1996-98, and Peter Knies came along. We introduced them to
our cousins and then asked John to take us to his 1950 Mark VI dhc, B4HR, which was on display in the field.
John Love purchased this car from Jeanette’s grandfather Emery Wanless. Emery won first place awards in a
RROC annual Meet and in Pebble Beach over twenty-five years ago. This was a special moment because we
remembered that three years ago John showed this same car in Monterrey, at the RROC annual meet after
driving it across country from Maryland to celebrate the Rolls Royce Centennial. Rob’s uncle, Emery Wanless,
who was our guest on that day, was happy to see John and the Mark VI. Emery remarked that he was pleased
that the two-tone green paint job that he had done himself, thirty-two years prior, was still looking good! We look forward year to year to attending national RREC and RROC Rallies or Meets these are unforgettable
events. We are very appreciative of the tremendous amount of planning and work involved for each one of
these, whether in England or USA. The volunteers who organize meets/rallies are to be commended, as each
year they appear to get better and better. It is wonderful to belong to our RR related clubs. These have allowed
us to expand our horizons and enhance our lives.

British Car Day 2007

And then, there is British Car Day! This annual
event draws British car lovers together for one
fantastic, fun-filled day where everyone tries
out their English “accents” and shares their
love for these beloved cars from the UK, whether they are small or large. Everyone has a story to tell about
their automobile. Mike and I have been attending and participating in the
British Car Day event for many years and always find it to be an enjoyable day. Being the “car” people we are and having belonged to several
car clubs, enables us to meander from the MG club to the Triumph club
to the Austin-Healey club and run across old friends and acquaintances
from years past. We’ve noticed that with the common denominator being
“cars” there is always something to talk about and share.
Meet Host: Paul Katson
We have in the past driven our ’69 Triumph GT-6+ and displayed it with
the San Diego Triumph Club. But for the last couple of years we’ve happily been able to participate with our ’58 Silver Cloud, much to Mike’s
glee. As many of you know, we’ve had our fair share of “FTP’s” (failure to
proceed) but hopefully have resolved those problems, and are pleased to
be motoring about town in our “Cloud”.
The day was exceptionally sunny and warm with a light breeze. We couldn’t
have asked for better weather, if we’d tried. The jackets we wore enroute
from chilly Ramona were soon shed. Overall, attendance was down a

our very own club for volunteering
on Saturday morning in helping set up the area for the show on Sunday. They arrived early morning and were put to work laying out the “grid” of
WHO goes where. I mention this because it appears our club was the
only club who arrived to assist the Triumph Club (the host club this year)
set up.
And, the winners are! We had several winners from our group this year.
Sir Orville Bingley took 1st place for
the Best Rolls Royce, and Frank
Taliaferro’s 1913 Ghost took 2nd
place. The “Best of Show” award
was also presented to Frank Taliaferro. Each year there is a separate
award for “The Best English Picnic”,
and John Ellison took those honors.

TECHNICAL: Backup Camera Installation

By today’s standards, most Rolls-Royce and Bentley automobiles vary between large and huge,
so maneuvering it for parking, broken U-turns, and so on can be problematical. A backup camera
can be a useful aid in many situations.
I wired a $90 backup camera to my license plate light with a $25 remote control switch in series.
I’m pleased with the result. It means to use my backup camera I turn the headlamp switch to at
least “S&T” and then turn on the remote switch. The monitor comes on automatically. I also tried
wiring the camera to the backup
light with no remote switch, but
found it irritating.

These cameras have been on
sale at Pep Boys for $110 with a
$20 rebate. (The rebate was a
painless
online
process.)
If
considering
alternatives,
an
important feature is that the
system is “wireless”. Both the
camera and the monitor have a
power and ground wire, but the
image is broadcast from the
camera to the monitor. Thus you
needn’t run a wire from the
camera to the monitor, which
would be a lot of work.
In my Silver Cloud, the
monitor was placed in the
driver’s side door-less glove
compartment, shown with a
view across my alley. The
monitor can plug into the
cigarette lighter or be wired to
a power source under the
dash such as the radio power.
The camera is designed to
mount on the rear license
plate. Getting the camera
power wire hooked up to the
remote switch and the license plate light will depend on the car involved.
I wired the camera to the license plate light through a remote controlled switch. The car’s light
switch must be in at least the first on position to use the camera. Then the remote control switch
must be turned on. I find it is no bother to turn on the lights during the day to operate the camera.
The wiring of the camera and the remote switch is very straightforward. Details may vary from car
to car. Here is what I did on my Cloud. I removed the license plate light bracket as if I were
replacing the bulb. Then I did this wiring:

two) and the camera black ground
were crimped into an eyelet fitting
and it is screwed to the light
bracket ground.

power wire) and the existing
license plate light wire (the power
source) were crimped together to
a connector for the license plate
light bulb holder.

The remote switch white wire (the
switched wire) was connected to
the camera red wire (its power
wire) with a wire nut.

The remote switch is the barely visible black
box at the bottom end on the labeled wires. It
is smaller than a cigarette pack. The blue wire
of the remote switch is the antenna.
Once the connections described above are
made, the switch can be placed in between the
inner and outer trunk lid. I didn’t see the need to fasten it as it snuggled down into where the inner
and outer trunk lids came together.

In Memoriam - Frances Gay Webb
Ed. The March-April 2007 Edition of The Silver Coast News includes an article about Frances Gay Webb
who then was celebrating her 103rd birthday and proudly she preferred to travel in Bentleys. With sadness we report the following:
Frances Gay Webb, former Redlands resident and Desert Pioneer, passed
away on Thursday, September 13th in Coronado. She departed this world
peacefully, with dignity, thoughtfulness, and sense of humor, that were always
her characteristics. After a short stay at the Coronado hospital, Frances succumbed to double pneumonia. Frances was born in Columbus Junction, Iowa
on March 3rd 1904.
She lived in Coronado with her son, Robert and daughter-in-law, Ivonne Webb. She enjoyed living in Coronado, which she called a “garden city.” During her
daily trips to the small Bayside Park, she derived great enjoyment from looking
at the San Diego Bay boat traffic and the San Diego skyline.
Frances at 103 Years Young
Frances was a gracious hostess and a marvelous gourmet cook. She always decorated her home according to
the season. Many of the decorations were her hand embroidered, petipoint, knitting, all kinds of stichery, and her
different collections of appropriate items from around the world. While in her 80’s and 90’s she was a volunteer
docent at the “Miss Cornelia House” in the Palm Springs Historic Park. She loved to watch baseball, tennis, and
golf on TV, and remained a avid reader of over 100 books a year until her eyesight began failing at age 102. She maintained an interest in the “Living Desert,“ and the Palm Springs and Palm Desert Historical Societies.
Frances saw Palm Springs go from dirt/sand streets and unspoiled desert to the vibrant and busy sprawl of the
urban mass, golf courses, and swimming pools.. She also remembered Palm Desert when it was greasewood,
the Boyd Ranch, and General Patton’s motor pool. Her husband, Robert, pre-deceased her in March 1996.
Frances is survived by her two children: Son, Robert the 3rd, now a retired Navy Commander, married to the
former Ivonne Ortiz, and daughter, Alice-Ann Bandoni, who lives in Ladner, British Columbia with her husband,
Dr. Robert Bandoni. Frances’ family and friends feel fortunate to have had her in their lives, a true lady, who
was blessed in so many ways and who was a joy to all. A Mass of Resurrection was concelebrated at Sacred
Heart Catholic Church in Coronado on Thursday September 20th.

Full Text of Chairlady Ivonne Webb’s Report (Excerpts published last Issue)
G
RANDEUR IN THE GORGE was the appropriate name for the RROC 56th Annual Meet in the Pacific Northwest.
The Columbia River Gorge, Skamania Lodge, in Stevenson, WA was the venue. Its spectacular scenery was perfect for
six consecutive days of Technical Seminars, Business Meetings, and Social Activities. This included breakfast runs, tours,
parties, dinners, wine tasting, river rafting, etc. and the highlight of the entire week, the Concours and judging on Saturday
August 11, 2007.
San Diego Region was well represented by Jerry Bevins, RROC Southwest Regional Director; Dennis and Janice Eickhoff
with their 1990 RR Corniche III DAL-30007 MPW DHC, which won two senior awards, the Spirit/Spur Driving Award and the
R-R of America Trophy for the best preserved and maintained vehicle and a previous Touring first place winner; John and
Mia Ellison with their 2000 Bentley Continental SC which won first in Touring in its class; Marge Sosa and Ed Gehringer with
their 1993 Bentley Brooklands, EBP46266, Saloon; Perry and Peggy Hirsh and their 2007 Bentley Continental GTC won,
first place concours for current series Bentley class; Chuck LaRocco came in his 1958 RR SCI; Norman Leitman and his
friend Todd; Pierre Lemieux brought two cars his 1948 Mark VI and his1979 Silver Wraith II which won First in Concours in
its class and the Senior Award in Concours; Greg and Margie Millard, Greg is a member of the board of the Derby Bentley
Society and editor of their publication On The Road. Greg is the winner of the coveted John W. McFarlane award for the
best Publication of all the Regions and Societies; Rick Rosiejka and Mike Gunnerson with their 1976 Silver Shadow; Brad
and Michele Zemcik, Brad is serving on the national Board as Membership Chairman and is also member of the Foundation
Board; Larry Goldberg and Rob and Ivonne Webb.
Rob and I attended several Business Meetings: Activities Committee, where the organizers and Hosts of the 2008 tour and
meets present their reports. The Spring Tour in Montreal Canada; National meets: 2008 in Williamsburg, VA, 2009 New
Orleans, LA, 2010 Ontario Canada, all presented their reports that informed the committee about how their programs, hotels,
concours venues and every detail is in order. Region and Society Chair & Editors forum: Michael Gaetano, Vice President
Regions and Societies, held an Open Forum where we interchanged information and ideas on getting more member participation, offering suggestions on how to organize Meets. I volunteered to share the Guidelines for Meet Hosts that Dave
Ely wrote for our Region. We heard that editors of many Regions have difficulty doing their jobs for lack of articles and we
felt lucky we have good members in the San Diego Region. Michael Gaetano is a very supportive Vice President. He has
created RROC Exchange to link all Regions and Society Chairmen and Area Directors.
The open National Board of Directors meeting went well. Robin James did a super job directing the meeting where the reports
from each member were clear and concise. RROC had to deal with difficult issues in the past year but it is encouraging to
know that the Club has members who are bright attorneys who voluntarily formed a Legal Committee and are steering the
affairs in the right direction. The Derby Bentley Society Meeting, whose chairman is Rob Webb, was very well attended. It
is a delight to go to meetings like this because these people know and love their cars, drive them and organize tours that
demand endurance both from the car and the driver. A great example was the 2004 Luis and Clark Tour from Virginia to the
National, Centennial Meet in Monterey, almost 7,000 miles. Future tours include a 2008 pre-war tour after the Williamsburg
National meet; a 2008 October Sierras Tour, and a New Mexico Tour in 2009l The Rolls-Royce Foundation Meeting was
also well attended, Jim Facinelli the new President, had requested David Evans the Rolls-Royce Plc. attorney, who has
been on the Board for about seven years, revise the Bylaws that will make the Foundation accounts more transparent and
its meetings and more accessible to the membership. The changed by-laws will include an Annual General Meeting as well
as a Board Meeting at the Annual Meets.
The outdoor settings, for the opening night ”Potlatch Party“ at the Columbia Gorge Interpretive Center and “Rolling on the
River” at the Skamania Lodge amphitheater were spectacular. Surrounded by evergreen forest and the Cascade Mountains,
which looked like they were lighted from within at sunset, while we were enjoying outstanding local cuisine in the company
of kindred souls.
Society dinners, while navigating the Columbia River in the style of the early pioneers aboard the “Columbia Gorge,” an
authentic sternwheeler. The Derby Bentley Society on the upper deck and the Silver Cloud Society in the main deck enjoyed
very delicious dinners prepared on board by a gifted young Chef. Those of us who were on the upper observation deck
just before dinner were enchanted by the sunlight reflections from the lush vegetation on the hill sides into the clear water,
caressed by a soft warm breeze while being entertained by an impromptu ballet of a joyful six year old girl wearing a flowing
dress with the green colors of nature.
Meet Co-Chairs David and Lynn Pass and Dick and Ann Tilden and the their committee, surpassed themselves. The setting
of the Judging Field on the Driving Range and its artistic layout by Paul Harman are to be commended. The measurements
earlier in the year, in the rain and mud, paid dividends. Placing automobiles on top of the hillocks in photo-op positions was
not to be forgotten.
