love, compassion, observations, and hope.” As you take the next steps of your academic/life journey here at Marymount, students
from throughout California, the United States, and the world will surround you. Each of you embodies integrity, respect for human

to serving others. You’ll be given opportunities
to volunteer in local neighborhoods as well as in
communities around the world.

Your first-year experience?
Excellent.
When you first get to campus, you’ll be able to work with your Advisor and Advising
Services to plan your Marymount experience. In the first week of the semester you’ll
create an education plan that sets you up in core classes and positions you to meet
requirements for your degree.
As an entering student you’ll enroll in ID117 “The Art of Being Human,” aka
Freshman Seminar. You’ll meet twice a week with fellow students for a threeunit course designed to enhance your personal, social, and physical well-being.
Marymount California has partnered with the Boys & Girls Clubs to enable our
students to go out into the community and actively assist in after-school programs
for kids. Students can also choose to do an independent project and serve at a site
of their own choosing. Where you’re doing service isn’t as important as focusing on
critical, reflective thinking as well as personal and civic responsibility and involving
yourself in the needs of our community.
Start thinking about your future. What about a master’s degree?
Our BA-MS and our BA-MBA Five-Year Pathway programs let qualified
undergraduate students accelerate their education and complete up to nine units
of graduate course work in their senior year. Accepted students are expected to
complete their master’s degrees within 15 months.
You’ll submit your application for the Master of Science in Community Psychology,
the Master of Science in Leadership and Global Development, or the Master of
Business Administration during your junior year.

Our San Pedro Residential Campus is unlike any other university housing.
Each of our 78 fully furnished two- or three-bedroom townhouses offers a kitchen,
living room, patio, and garage. The houses surround a community quad and the
Fritz B. and Gladys Guadalupe Pavilion, where you’ll always find friends hanging
around the fire pit and the basketball court.
The total cost for room and board is $12,998 for a three-bedroom townhome.
All units are furnished, with each carpeted bedroom containing desks, chairs, dressers,
and extra-long twin beds. The carpeted living room has a coffee table
and two couches. The kitchen has a table, four chairs, a stove, and a refrigerator. Students have access to quiet and group study rooms, card-operated laundry facilities,
parking on campus, and high-speed wireless Internet. Utilities are included, along with
a meal plan, in the room and board fee.
Plus, the Res Life staff works diligently to provide students with a wealth of
recreational and educational opportunities evenings and weekends.
Living in a residence community plays a vital role in your development.
Freshmen and sophomores are required to live in residence.

HOW DO I GET THERE?
A University shuttle transports students to
and from the residential communities and
both the Oceanview and Waterfront campuses.
The shuttle generally operates hourly from
7 a.m. to 10 p.m. while classes are in session.
In addition, shuttle drivers are pleased to
make stops at banks, grocery stores, fitness
facilities, and other service locations.
WHERE DO I EAT?
Whether you’re living on campus or not, you can enjoy meals at the Bistro by the Sea Café on our Oceanview campus. Breakfast,
lunch, and dinner are served Monday through Thursday. Breakfast
and lunch are available on Friday. For meal plan information, visit

Outtakes on the San Pedro Residential campus offers snacks,
coffee and other beverages, candy, and an array of treats. Residential students choose from a variety of mandatory meal plan
options, including weekly plans that provide 14, 12, or 10 meals
and flexible Café and Outtakes options. On weekends, the Café
offers boxed meals, but students often prepare their meals in their
townhome kitchens or dine out in the Palos Verdes/San Pedro area.

Our Financial Aid counselors provide help in completing the application forms, as well
as information about eligibility. Our expert staff can tell you about academic and athletic
scholarships as well as other funding programs sponsored by outside sources.

DID YOU KNOW?
Marymount California annually awards financial aid to
more than 70 percent of enrolled students.
Tuition payments are paid through Student Accounts in
the Office of Business Services. Once your academic
schedule has been created, you’ll be able to review your
account standing through your student portal.
Marymount California University offers two methods for
paying your tuition and fees:
Pay in Full Before Registration
Payment for the fall semester is due no later than July
15 each year. Payment for the spring semester is due no
later than December 15 each year.
Payment Plan
The University offers a payment plan. You can get more
information about signing up for a payment plan by
visiting your student portal.
Payments may be made in the form of check, cash,
cashier’s check, money order, credit card (MasterCard,
VISA, or Discover), or wire transfer.
New students are asked to submit a deposit of $200 by
the date specified in the letter of acceptance. The deposit
will be credited toward tuition.

Transfer to the Marymount Experience

• We will provide you a transcript evaluation one week after you have received your admission
decision. Please make sure that we have your official AP and IB scores (if applicable) in addition
to your transcripts.

• March 1 is when you can start scheduling an appointment with Transfer Evaluators to discuss
the details of your evaluation.

GET THE CREDIT YOU DESERVE
We work hard to help you transfer credit from past academic
coursework and experience. Talk to our tranfer credit evaluators
to determine how many units will transfer toward your degree.
Transfer students are eligible for scholarships at Marymount
California University. These may be renewed annually.

Before your arrival in the United States
1. Form I-20
The Office of Admission will issue you a Form I-20 and mail it to your foreign address.
This is an important immigration document that you will need for your F-1 visa interview.
You will also need this document for entry into the U.S., so please keep this with your
passport at all times.
2. SEVIS I-901 Fee
F-1 visa students are required to pay the SEVIS I-901 Fee PRIOR to their visa appointment.
Once you receive your Form I-20, please access the fee payment system online at www.fmjfee.com. Make sure you print out three copies of the payment receipt—
one for you, one for the visa interview, and one for the Port of Entry to the U.S.
3. Schedule an F-1 visa appointment at a U.S. embassy
Information on visa applications and U.S. embassies are available at www.travel.state.gov.
Visa processing times vary by embassy, so please plan ahead accordingly.
4. Book your flight
Once you have an F1 visa stamp in your passport, you can purchase your plane ticket.
• The earliest date you can arrive to the U.S. is 30 days prior to the start date
listed in ITEM #5 of your MCU I-20.
• The last day that you can enter the U.S. is the date listed in ITEM #5 of your MCU I-20.
5. Sign up for MCU’s New Student Orientation
Information about Orientation and the registration process will be e-mailed to you.
6. Sign up for the placement test/academic advisement
Students who would like to take the placement test and/or meet with their academic advisor
may schedule an appointment. The test scores will be used to help place students in the
appropriate course level.
