Q:I do not see any wireless networks in the Wireless
Network Connection window.
A:Your wireless network adapter may not be installed
correctly, or if you are on a laptop the wireless switch
may be set to off. Please refer to your computer manual
to resolve this issue.
Q:How do I confirm whether or not I have a wireless network
adapter in my PC?
A: Go to your computer’s control panel and select “Network
Connections”, if an adapter exists it will be labeled
“Wireless Network Connection”.
Q:I do not see the AirPort icon near my clock on my
Mac computer.
A:Please click on the APPLe icon at the top left corner of
your screen, then click on SYSteM PreFereNCeS in the
drop down menu. Once inside the SYSteM PreFereNCeS
window, look for the NetWOrK icon and then click on it.
On the left hand side there will be a window that lists the
different network adapters you can use, look for AirPort and
then click on it. If it is set to Off, click the tUrN AirPort ON
button. If it is already on or if you do not see an AirPort icon
in the left pane please refer to your computer manual or
speak directly with Apple for further assistance.
Q:How do I reset the Wi-Fi Modem back to its
default settings?
A: If you have forgotten your custom SSID and Pre-shared
key settings, you can reset the Wireless Gateway with a
ballpoint pen by pressing and holding the recessed Reset
button for 20 seconds. The Reset button is located on the
back of the unit, near the coax cable.

Connect antenna provided (If included with Wi-Fi Modem)
1. Connect the coax cable from the wall
cable outlet to the Shaw Wi-Fi Modem.
2. Connect the power cable to the back of
the Shaw Wi-Fi Modem, then the wall
power outlet.
3. If a wired network connection is required
in your home, connect your Shaw Wi-Fi
Modem to the computer using the
provided network cable, for additional
wired connections, connect a network
cable to any other additional devices.
4. If an antenna is included with your Shaw
Wi-Fi Modem, connect to the back of the
Wi-Fi Modem (beside the power connection
point) by twisting clockwise until securely
fastened.
5. Once the setup is complete, watch the
lights on the front of the Shaw Wi-Fi
Modem, if the online/cable light does not turn
green after 30 minutes, call 1.888.472.2222
6. If you would like additional Internet support,
confirm the “Online” light is green, then type
SHAW.CA/LAUNCHPAD into your browser.
■ Install Shaw Support and Shaw Secure.
To complete the setup, follow the
instructions on the screen.

Once you have connected your Shaw Wi-Fi Modem, please choose one of the operating systems below to connect your Shaw Wireless Home Network.
Windows 7 / Vista
Step 1: Click the Windows Icon/Start Button and
in the “Search programs and files” (Windows
7) or the “Start Search” (Vista) box, type in
“run” and press enter on your keyboard.
Step 2: Type in “ncpa.cpl” and click “OK”
Step 3: Right click on the “Wireless Network
Connection” icon, then click “Connect/
Disconnect”. If you do not see the
“Wireless Network Connection” icon,
please refer to our FAQ section.
Step 4: Find your Shaw Wireless Home Network
SSID listed in the Wireless Network
Connection window (see sticker on Wi-Fi
Modem) and click on it, then click the
“Connect” button. If you do not see any
wireless networks listed, please refer to our
FAQ section.
Step 5: When asked, enter the secure default preshared key (see sticker on Wi-Fi Modem) or a
previously customized pre-shared key, then
click “OK” or “Connect”.
Step 6 (Vista only): Save your settings by clicking
“Save this Network & Start this connection”,
then click “Close”.
Step 7 (Vista only): A window will pop up, click on
the “Home” button to continue. A “User
Access Control Menu” will pop up, click
“Continue”, finish the installation by clicking
the “Close” button.
Step 9: You are now connected to the Internet,
open your Internet browser to begin surfing.
Windows XP
Mac OS 10.5.”X” & 10.6.”X”
Step 1: Click on the Windows Icon/Start Button,
then click “Run…”, and type in “ncpa.cpl”
and press enter on your keyboard.
Step 1: Find and click on the AirPort icon near
your clock in the upper right hand side
of your screen.
Step 2: Now look for “Wireless Network
Connection” icon and right click on it, then
click “View Wireless Network Connections”.
If you do not see the “Wireless Network
Connection” icon, please refer to our FAQ
section.
Step 2: Once clicked the menu will expand,
make sure the AirPort is set to “On”,
if it is “Off” please refer to the FAQ
section to continue.
Step 3: You will see a list of available wireless
networks. Find your Shaw Wireless Home
Network SSID (see sticker on Wi-Fi Modem)
and click on it, then click the “Connect”
button. If you do not see any wireless networks
listed, please refer to our FAQ section.
Step 4: Enter in your secure default pre-shared key
(see sticker on Wi-Fi Modem) or a previously
customized pre-shared key to connect and
then click “Connect”.
Step 5: Save your settings by clicking “Save this
Network & Start this connection” then click
“Close”
Step 3: In the AirPort menu, find your Shaw
Wireless Home Network SSID (the
default SSID is located on the sticker
attached to your Shaw Wi-Fi Modem),
and click on it.
Step 4: You will be prompted to enter a
security key, please enter your secure
default pre-shared key located on the
sticker attached to your Shaw
Wi-Fi Modem.
Step 5: You are now connected to the Internet,
open your Internet browser to begin surfing.
Setting up Additional Computers
Repeat the steps in the “Connecting your Shaw
Wireless Home Network” section of this brochure
for each computer you would like to add to your
network. If you have set up a customized name for
your Shaw Wireless Home Network (SSID), you will
need to look for that in the list of Wireless Networks
and click Connect. Then enter the pre-shared key you
have already chosen to connect. If you are using the
secure default settings, enter the default password
on the sticker attached to your Shaw Wi-Fi Modem.
advanced users
If you are an advanced user, we suggest that you
configure your advanced settings after connecting
your first computer, and before connecting any
additional devices to your Shaw Wireless Home
Network. This is to avoid having to setup all of
your computers and/or devices again.
To access the advanced settings for your Shaw
Wireless Home Network, open your web browser
and type 192.168.0.1 into your address bar.
Enter your default Username and Password that is
located on the sticker attached to your Shaw Wireless
Gateway to gain access to the advanced settings.
Step 6: You are now connected to the Internet, open
your Internet browser to begin surfing.

*Note* The advanced settings for the Shaw Wireless
Home Network are provided for experienced users
who have specific needs on their network. Due to
the technical nature of the advanced settings, we
suggest that light network users keep the default
settings as they provide a secure experience and
have fewer technical steps.
