SCIENTIST & ENGINEER PAQ PROGRAM
U.S. Citizenship, Security Clearance, Mobility Agreement
The PAQ program is currently being revised in accordance with the government’s new Pathways Program. This section will be
updated when the program details are defined.
The Scientist & Engineer PAQ Program offers qualified Bachelor of Science graduates a well-planned three-year development and
training program, which includes one year of graduate studies in a STEM discipline. The first and third years of this unique training
and development program involve work experience, while the second year is dedicated to paid graduate studies (tuition, fees, and
books are paid, and PAQ employees maintain full salary). Qualified applicants with relevant Master of Science or Bachelor of Science
degrees supplemented by one year of professional engineering or science experience may also be considered and, if selected,
may be placed in a two-year on-the-job training program. You will be promoted yearly with outplacement to journey-level engineer or
scientist at the end of development period.
Qualification Requirements: 3.05 GPA; 297 GRE score for 3 year program or 1000 GRE score if taken prior to August 2011.

Must be pursuing a four-year college degree and in the
last year of completing degree requirements. Additional

The Science, Mathematics, & Research for Transformation (SMART) Scholarship-for-Service Program is an opportunity for students pursuing
an undergraduate or graduate degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) disciplines to receive a full scholarship

Qualification Requirements:
All awardees must be:
• A U.S. citizen
• 18 years of age or older as of August 1, 2012
• Able to participate in summer internships at DoD laboratories
• Willing to accept post-graduate employment with the DoD
• A student in good standing with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a
4.0 scale (as calculated by the SMART application)
• Ability to obtain/maintain a security clearance
Participants in the SMART Scholarship-for-Service Program receive:
• Full tuition and education-related fees (does not include items such as meal plans, housing, or parking)
•Cash award of $25,000 - $41,800 depending on prior educational experience (may be prorated depending on award length)
• Paid summer internships
•Health Insurance reimbursement allowance up to $1,200 per calendar year
• Book allowance of $1,000 per academic year
• Mentoring
• Security Clearance (SECRET)
• Employment placement after graduation
