Invitation to IPHA Legislative Action Day 2015
Dear Colleagues,
On behalf of the leadership of the Illinois Public Health Association, we invite you to attend the
IPHA Legislative Action Day 2015 on April 15, 2015, in Springfield, Illinois.
As public health leaders, we have the opportunity to influence the process through grassroots
action and collective advocacy. This event highlights key legislative issues that impact the public’s
health in Illinois.
IPHA Legislative Action Day is an excellent opportunity to increase your awareness of legislative
issues affecting public health, to foster relationships with State Legislators and other policy makers,
and to gain education in the practical aspects of public health advocacy.
The day’s activities include a luncheon keynote address, briefings on legislative issues currently before
the General Assembly, and a full afternoon at the State Capitol meeting with legislators and their
staff. The day concludes with a legislative reception, co-sponsored by Illinois Association of Public
Health Administrators, Northern Illinois Public Health Consortium, Illinois Dental Hygienists’
Association, Illinois Federation of Teachers, West Suburban Dental Hygienists’ Society and
Southern Illinois Dental Hygienists’ Society, where participants have the opportunity to meet and
network with members of the legislature and fellow public health advocates.
The involvement of public health organizations in the current legislative environment has never
been more important. Collectively, our efforts demonstrate how individuals and organizations
committed to public health can impact the health of their communities through policy and advocacy.
