Still Providing Help When Needed.
A N N UA L R E P O R T
Dorcas Ministries is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization
THANKS FOR BEING A PART OF THE THREAD
Greetings Friends,
Our 2015 was certainly one for the record books as the highlight list attests. Importantly, we
revisited our mission and vision statements as laid out in our organizational Strategic Plan. Our
mission statement was expanded to include our intent of moving our clients from their point of crisis
to a state of self-sufficiency. Our vision statement now reflects our desire to become a model of
excellence for nonprofit service delivery in Western Wake County. Our strategic plan now includes
activities to satisfy both without straying from our key values and beliefs: “In everything we do, we
will conduct ourselves with caring and compassion and in keeping with biblical principles.”
HOWARD MANNING
Executive Director
Here are a few highlights from 2015:
• We served over 13,000 people in need.
• Our committed team of over 420 volunteers logged over 62,000 hours.
• The readers of Cary Magazine voted Dorcas Ministries the Best Charity in Western Wake for the second year in a row. The Dorcas Thrift Shop also received three first places and one honorable mention for places to shop.
Thank you, readers and voters!!
• We unveiled our Wall of Gratitude in 2015 to show our appreciation for our volunteers of 10 years or more and significent donors. We hope it will encourage others to join them in support of our mission.
• The 2015 Thanksgiving Breakfast, emceed by Debra Morgan of WRAL-TV, raised over $154,000.
• Our Outreach Programs added a full-time case manager and launched a new emergency housing program that had a 89% success rate.
• We signed an agreement with the UNC School of Nursing to have their mobile van on site twice a month to help
clients manage chronic illnesses. We sponsored the NC Baptist Men’s Dental Bus for Dorcas Ministries clients.
• With the help of the community, our Dorcas Thrift Shop had a record year for sales, exceeding 2014 sales by 20%.
• Contributions and donations from the public now account for almost 25% of our total revenue stream as compared
to 15% in past years.
It is not possible to list in this report the many favors God has shown us in 2015. I invite you to come by Dorcas for a
Red Carpet tour to see and hear for yourself how God takes ordinary people and gets extraordinary results. Our physical
location is 187 High House Road, Cary, North Carolina. I look forward to seeing you soon.

Dorcas Ministries Helped Over 13,000 People in 2015.
Here are a few of their words of appreciation....
“Words can’t express
how thankful my family
is for your help with
hotel costs when we
were homeless and

you’ve given me and my
four children. You helped
me work through the

— SG, Cary
“Thank you so much
for your help sending
my two children to
preschool. They have

so well! We are so
grateful for the support
of Dorcas!”— ES, Cary
“Thank you, and all of

counseling you gave
me, I am now better
able to see the light at
the other end of a dark

if the car would make
it to the my next

like to thank you all
for your support and
all the wisdom I gained
through the Jobs for

along the way.”
— HG, Cary
“Thank you so much for
helping me with the
cost of a hotel when I
was homeless. I don’t
know where I would
have gone without
your help.”

providing a path to self-sufficiency for our neighbors in need. As volunteers and staff, it transforms lives by
giving meaning, purpose and a path to living our Christian values. Thanks to all of our donors, churches, business
