Perritte Memorial Messenger United Methodist Church Making Disciples of Jesus Christ for the Transformation of the World NEWS BRIEFS Church Clean Up Plan to join us this Saturday, March 12, as many hands make light work. Come at 8:00 am to clean up around the church, both inside and outside, as we prepare for Easter. We hope to have all the work completed before noon. Spring Forward this Sunday! This Sunday, March 13, will be the start of Daylight Savings Time, so remember to set your clocks forward an hour on Saturday night! Cancellations for Spring Break Monday, March 14, there will be no Pie Crust rolling, Girl Scouts, or Cub Scouts. Wednesday, March 16, there will be no evening activities—no meal, adult study, youth, choir practice, or Boy Scouts. Spring Fling—Saturday, March 19 Spring Fling is less than two weeks away! On Saturday, March 19, we will join with FUMC Nacogdoches on our church lawn to open up arts and crafts stations, games, snacks, and bounce houses at 10 am. Then at noon, we start the massive Easter egg hunts, one for the younger children, and a separate hunt for the older children. We need volunteers to: Before Spring Fling: Bring small prizes like bubbles and coloring books Help set up Friday, March 18, at 3 pm On the day of Spring Fling: Host a game booth Monitor a bounce house Hide Easter eggs (for both egg hunts) We will provide child care for volunteers during Spring Fling! Remember that this is a great outreach event from our church to families in our neighborhood—we have invited every student at Nettie Marshall and Brooks Quinn Jones to join us! Let’s all join together in hosting a morning of fun and fellowship for our neighbors! To volunteer, contact event coordinator Kelly Allensworth at 940.577.6666 or [email protected]. Order Easter Lilies Call the church office to sponsor real or artificial Easter lilies this year in honor or memory of someone dear to you. Leave the cooking to us! On Easter Sunday, March 27, 9:30-10:30 am, the Missions Committee will serve a pancake breakfast in Memorial Hall to raise money for the ZOE Working Group that Perritte sponsors. Come eat a hearty breakfast to support a great cause, and enjoy! Perritte Embroidered Shirts At big events like Spring Fling and the Bazaar, guests find it much easier to get help when members of Perritte are wearing a shirt that identifies us! It you don’t have a Perritte shirt, we still have some in the office. We have navy blue shirts with our logo embroidered in the following adult sizes: Adult Tee shirts ($13): Men’s: 2 medium Women’s: 2 medium, 1 large Adult Polo shirts ($17): Men’s (with pocket): 1 XXXL Women’s: 1 small, 3 medium, 2 large, 1 XXL We have green tee shirts with our logo printed in the following youth sizes: Youth Tee shirts ($5): 1 size 4/5 1 size 10/12 7 size 8 7 size 14/16 Book Club We need your help to provide a chicken spaghetti lunch on Wednesday, March 23, for the Holy Week services at FUMC Nacogdoches. Everyone is welcome to come help prepare in Perritte’s kitchen on the following mornings at 9:00 am: Monday, March 21 cook and bone the chicken Tuesday, March 22 cook the spaghetti, and mix up the casseroles Wednesday, March 23 cook the chicken spaghetti, take the food to FUMC, and serve the meal at 12:30 pm. Find yourself a copy to read, or Ray & Susan Stoner have a few copies you can borrow (564-4741,) or you can buy a new copy in the church office for $10.20. We will meet for snacks and discussion at Chris and Jamie Bouldin’s house (3501 Chimney Rock) on Thursday, March 31. On Monday–Friday, March 21-25, the Nacogdoches Ministerial Alliance will hold Holy Week services at noon in the Sanctuary of FUMC Nacogdoches, followed by a lunch at 12:30. On Monday, Pastor Lani will be the liturgist. On Tuesday, Rev. Tom Teekell will preach. On Wednesday, Perritte will usher and serve chicken spaghetti lunch . Join us here on Thursday, March 24, at 6:00 pm, for a Maundy Thursday service with communion. Rejoice in the resurrection with us on Easter Sunday, March 27, as we gather for breakfast at 9:30 am, Sunday school at 10:00 am, and the most joyful worship of the year at 11:00 am!
