Third Sunday of Advent
Rejoice in the Lord Always
Gaudete Sunday
Dear Parishioners,
Today in Cathedrals and specially appointed
churches throughout the world, Holy Doors will be
opened demonstrating that the Mercy of God reaches
throughout the world. To gain the plenary
indulgence, it is necessary to make a pilgrimage to
pass through a Holy Door, make a sincere
confession, receive Holy Communion, recite the
Creed, and pray for the intentions which the Pope
holds in his heart for the Church, completing all
elements within a week. In our diocese two Holy
Doors will be opened this afternoon: one at our
Cathedral and one at the Chapel of the Holy Cross in
Sedona.
In the document Pope Francis wrote
proclaiming the Jubilee Year of Mercy he added
some special ways of gaining the plenary indulgence
for ourselves or for someone who has died. For
those in prison, they may do so in prison chapels
For those who are homebound, they may fulfill all
the elements in their homes.
And for all of us, besides passing through a
Holy Door, Pope Francis wrote that we will surely
gain the mercy indulgence when we practice the
Corporal and Spiritual Works of Mercy.
The Corporal Works of Mercy are:
1. To feed the hungry.
2. To give drink to the thirsty.
3, To clothe the naked.
4. To shelter the homeless
5. To visit the sick.
6. To visit the imprisoned
7. To bury the dead.
The Spiritual Works of Mercy are:
1. To instruct the ignorant.
2. To counsel the doubtful.
3. To admonish sinners.
4. To bear wrongs patiently.
5. To forgive offenses willingly.
6. To comfort the afflicted.
7. To pray for the living and the dead.
God Bless you with Joy,
Fr. Bradley L. Peterson, O. Carm

Alégrense Siempre en el Señor
Domingo de Gaudete
Estimados Feligreses,
7. Rogar a Dios por vivos y difuntos
Que Dios los Bendiga con Gozo,
P. Bradley Luis Peterson, O. Carm.
