The Italian-made, Linen Natursoft Deluxe Magniflex mattress includes a layer of foam infused
with mallow plant extract known for its soothing and healing qualities. Linen NaturSoft Deluxe is the first mattress is the first of its kind
for the mattress innovator.
Often found in beauty products, mallow
has been used to reduce inflammation and
soften skin. The mattress’ layer of mallow
extract foam provides an extremely soft and
comfortable support surface for the body
while calming the mind and promoting an
overall sense of wellbeing. The new model
also features the company’s Dual Core Design
for a customizable sleep experience by simply flipping the inner cores for a “soft” or
“firm” feel.
The flexible composition of The Linen
Natursoft Deluxe offers a luxurious ultraplush feel that envelopes the body for maximum comfort. As its name suggests, this
mattress features a removable linen cover to
keep the bed cool, fresh and allergen free.
Beneath the linen ticking is a layer of fiber padding wrapped around the mattress
that is anti-allergen and highly breathable
to promote airflow. The third layer features
the mallow extract, and below that is a layer
of EcoGreen soy Memoform designed to be

non-toxic, renewable and organic materials,
featuring a fabric covering with a different
renewable fiber sourced from plant or marine life. Magniflex has replaced the largest
petroleum-based component found in other
visco-elastic memory foams with a natural
oil alternative. The results are soy and castor

After years of research and development, Magniflex introduces innovative cooling Magnigel
collection of mattresses and pillows designed
for maximum airflow and breathability.
Created by using a pre-polymer that is
added and ‘swirled’ into the foam compound
for greater coverage, Magnigel’s open-cell design provides breathability and a capacity to
dissipate heat faster. This keeps temperature
stable and prevents the problem of “sleeping
hot” that is often associated with traditional
memory foam. Research shows a significant
difference in mattress and pillow heating
times, with Magnigel surpassing both memory
foam and latex alone.

The Canadian-based specialty mattress producer Zedbed introduced “G+ sleep solution” at the
Toronto Furniture Market.
The new G+ system comes with customizable comfort cooling zones placed where
the body needs more warmth or more coolness. Sleepers customize their sleep environment by inserting or removing the company’s gel from pockets on the mattress
surface. By adding or removing the number
of G+ pads used on their mattress, sleepers
are able to control the surface temperature
of their mattress.
David Gelinas, Zedbed’s marketing VP said
“Today, there are various technologies designed
to regulate body temperature and prevent the
discomfort of overheating that is sometimes associated with sleeping on memory foam. With
G+, users can increase or decrease the coolness
of their mattress, thus controlling their sleep
space without disturbing their sleep partner.”
Zedbed designed the gel pads to fit in special pockets on the mattress. The pocket design ensures that air circulates whether or
not sleeper has gel pads installed. The Gel+
system is perfectly compatible with memory
foam infused with gel.

It’s hard to believe that we’re already well into
the first month of 2013! As I look at the many
new and exciting developments we cover in
these pages, I’m filled with familiar pride and
gratitude at the opportunity to work in this
great industry. Its mix of smaller mattress and
bedding entrepreneurs with regional distribution; major companies, whose brands are
known around the world; and retailers large
and small, keep the innovations and material
selections varied and edgy.

Guayule, pronounced why-OO-lee, is a
North American desert shrub that produces
a resin similar to natural rubber latex. Although it’s fast becoming a hot commodity, Pure LatexBLISS is the first mattress
company to use it in a consumer product; a
pioneering move that could greatly influence
the availability and price of a key raw material. Commercial use of guayule can reduce
the industry’s heavy reliance on the traditional natural rubber tree, Hevea Brasiliensis,
whose growth is limited to tropical climates
close to the equator. By contrast, guayule is
a perennial shrub native to the southwestern United States and northern Mexico that
could be grown in other desert climates, thus
making it suitable for widespread cultivation. The natural rubber this plant produces
in its bark and roots is in many ways almost
identical to the natural rubber harvested
from Hevea trees.
More innovation is evident in Fabrictech’s
introduction of scented sachets into its line
of PureCare™ products, which allow consumers to indulge in the therapeutic benefits of
aromatherapy in the bedroom. The hint of
relaxing lavender will help many fall asleep
more quickly, while those who require a bit
of motivation to bound from bed may find
the scent of mandarin energizing as they prepare to start their day.
This issue will also help prepare you to meet
the increasingly customized needs of today’s
shoppers in its coverage of dual comfort bedding options. This new retail craze allows consumers to pick mattress or sleep solutions that
are tailored to meet, not only their specific
needs, but those of their sleep partners as well.
