Traveling to Baku
Is “diverse and lively” to say the least. Private dormitories
in and out of campus are available to all Qafqaz students.
A university bus service is provided to transport students to
and from the dormitory off-campus. Monthly average cost of
living for a student in Baku is around USD 350.
Baku is home to a modern international airport with access
to the world. Local transport services are integrated in such a
way as to make traveling around the city easy and convenient.
A ferry service operates between Baku, Turkmenistan and
Kazakhstan.

Student Clubs
Despite the fact that Qafqaz was initially a social-sciences
oriented university, it strives to provide the best practical
experience for the students in the engineering departments
through Artificial Intelligence Lab, Logic Design Lab, Physics
Lab, Computer Labs (4), Language Lab, Chemical
Engineering Labs (4), CISCO CCNA Lab, 2G-3G-4G
Telecommunications Lab, and Simultaneous Translation Lab.
There are many student clubs set up and run by the students
themselves. The clubs help the students with their individual
and social development. Students organize memorial and
entertaining programs of both fraternal countries' national
holidays; also organize seminars, panels and conferences
related to global issues and support lonely families materially
and morally. The students are very active in sports, especially
in basketball, football, volleyball, taekwondo, and chess. They
organize charity events to help the needy in settlements
nearby, scientific olympiads among high-school and
university students, and drama plays performed at famous
theaters in the city.

To provide students with an utmost level of distinct higher
education that meets international standards, infuse them
with enthusiasm to continuously reach new horizons, endorse
and encourage respect in students for national and universal
human values, and to play an active role in fostering
excellence, cooperation and interaction with international
academic and business milieu.
There are many CISCO CCNA centers
in the world, but the advantage of
having it at the university is that the
CCNA curriculum has been integrated
into the Computer Engineering BSc.
curriculum so that the students can
easily sit CISCO CCNA certification
examinations without an extra effort
and at a reduced price.

Translation Services
This service meets the needs of translation of official
university documents, along with several cultural and scientific
articles and books. It also addresses the public requests.
Qafqaz University is the first higher
educational institution which runs the
ISO 9001:2008 Quality Management
System in Azerbaijan.
TOEFL iBT
Center for Lifelong Learning
Education
The university has applied the credit point system since the
beginning. The system has played an important role in the
university's transition into the ECTS (Bologna process). The
University offers B.A, B.Sc., M.A., M.Sc., and PhD programs.
The B.A. education is generally of four years, and in some
programs five, first year being the preparatory year where
the students acquire Azerbaijani and English languages.
Distance Learning
The Distance Learning team set up two years ago is about
to finish a pilot module that will be tested in our intranet.
The team has been involved in a two-year project run by
Germany's InWent.
The center offers trainings in management, finance, and
technology to many renowned companies and holdings as
well as prestigious academic institutions in Azerbaijan.
Career Planning / Alumni Services
The service plays an active role in keeping track of graduates,
organizing job fairs, and helping students to secure placement
in prestigious companies for internship.
Qafqaz University pays significant importance to the
employment rate of the graduates and helps them with
seeking employment. More than 85% of the graduates are
employed, which is a considerable indicator. We are glad to
see our graduates working in 48 different countries.
Qafqaz University is the first institution
where the TOEFL iBT, new generation
TOEFL test, can be taken thanks to its
high speed internet connection and
recently refurbished computer lab.

International Cooperation
The university aims at and has succeeded in establishing
strong links with institutions all over the world. The number of
student and faculty exchanges is increasing year by year.
We have signed memorandums of agreement with more than
35 institutions so far. We have now a dual diploma program
with Troy University, Alabama, USA on two MBA programs,
and two joint diploma programs with Chalmers IT University
of Gothenburg on Computer Science and IT Management. We
have realized faculty exchange programs with UNI, UNT, Troy,
UMass, George Washington, George Mason, Montclair, and
UCF in USA; Ataturk and Istanbul Universities in Turkey, and
many others in UK, Germany, Sweden, Korea, Kazakhstan,
Georgia, Russia, Ukraine, Italy, Malaysia, and South Africa.
Qafqaz University has successfully finished a EU TEMPUS
project with 3 national and 5 European universities in order to
develop the international relations office.
