History and Experience
Since its inception in 1961, Gloucester Engineering Company has been pushing boundaries in
the plastics extrusion and converting market. From bag making, foam and board extrusion,
sheet extrusion, blown film extrusion, cast extrusion to extrusion coating, GEC has developed
innovative solutions that provide customers a competitive edge.
The company was publicly listed on the American Stock Exchange before it was purchased by
Germany’s Battenfeld Group in 1978. Battenfeld Gloucester Engineering evolved into the
world’s leading supplier of plastics extrusion machinery in the markets it served. The company
developed many industry firsts in extrusion, die, winding and control technology that
established BGE as the market leader.
The parent company of Battenfeld, the SMS Group, a world-leader in the steel industry,
decided to divest its interests in the plastics industry and subsequently sold BGE in a
management buyout led by Mousam Ventures in 2007. The company has gone back to its
roots, renamed Gloucester Engineering Company.
With a management team that has hundreds of man years of experience in the plastics
extrusion and converting industry, GEC is true to the vision the GEC founders had in 1961 –
pushing technology boundaries and delivering innovative solutions that provide
