The annual Water, Energy, Technology
and Environment Exhibition in Dubai.
Y

have a long standing
relationship with the
utilities in the region and
AJ Power was pleased to
partner with them for this
exhibition. On display was
an AJ165 generating set
powered by a Perkins engine
and an automatic transfer
switch demonstration unit
which allowed potential
customers to simulate mains
failures.
The WETEX exhibition is run
annually in conjunction with
DEWA and features existing
suppliers and potential
suppliers of the electricity
and water authorities of other
regions.
Over 1500 exhibitors took
part from over 42 countries
during the 3 days (21st to
the 23rd of April 2015) at
the centrally located Dubai
International Convention and
Exhibition Centre which has
almost 50,000 sq. metres of
air conditioned space.
Our resident UAE General
Manager Ian McClay was
joined by Joe Bradley,
Director of Sales at the
exhibition. Together with
the Kanoo Sales team, Ian
and Joe were on-hand to
demonstrate AJ Power
quality products to the many
technically seasoned visitors.
Attendees included many
Middle East Electricity
companies such as SEC
(Saudi Electricity Company).
It was a successful few days
with our presence there
being confirmation of our
ability to design, build and
test high power gensets up
to 3.3MVA, 11kV 50Hz and 4
MVA, 13.8kV 60 Hz.

UTILITY POWER PROJECT

Fleet of truck

generating sets.
I
n 2014 AJ Power were approached
by a Middle East power utility to
provide a mobile 11kV solution
for the maintenance of high voltage
substations. While they had a low
voltage fleet, it was deemed necessary
to have an 11kV solution.
The container is rigidly mounted on a MAN 6 wheel drive
truck with a 50 metre HV cable on a reel at the front to allow
connection between the generator and the substation.
The generators are currently in production at the AJ Power
factory with customer witness testing imminent.
Our distributor in Ghana, G&J Technical Services Limited,
Generating sets will be put in containers and mounted on truck.
A detailed specification was created
and the AJ Power enigneering teams
designed a solution meeting both
performance and statutory road
regulations.
Each generator (there are 4 in total)
develops 1875kVA/1500kW at 11kV
and is powered by a Mitsubishi S16RPTA2 engine driving a Stamford
Frame 8, 11kV alternator.

follow up visit to russia
april 2015
RUSSIAN SPEAKING Gaukhar THOMPSON, AJ Power translator/
interpreter/ sales assistant visits russia.
G
aukhar joined AJ Power in March 2013 initially
as a part-time placement from Queen’s
University during her degree in Interpreting.
In 2013 following completion she joined as sales
assistant with Russian interpreting and translating also
part of her job role.
She first visited Russia in June 2014 with AJ Power for
the 5th International Show of Construction Equipment
and Technologies “CTT Moscow 2014” held in
Moscow.
Russia, like many other countries has been
experiencing an economic downturn due to various reasons. By deciding to visit Russia for the second
time Gaukhar was not expecting any miracles to happen. It was just a friendly visit to those companies
whom she met in 2014. However Gaukhar was pleasantly surprised on her most recent visit. All
companies unanimously admitted that the Russian market has started to awaken again.

last year, AJ Power is now
pleased to announce its new
distribution partnership with CIT
(Compagnie d’Instrumentation

of the Promo Invest group,
CIT are already a well-known
company in Algeria, and they
lost no time in starting to
promote the AJ Power brand
within their market.
In May this year AJ Power
Sales Executives Rowan

a visit to Algiers to meet the
new sales team at CIT and
lend a hand at the International
Trade Fair. They arrived on
Tuesday evening and were

Algiers. This grand building
was first opened in 1889 and
has been host to many famous
faces over the years including
Rudyard Kipling, Che Guevara
and even Winston Churchill
who met there with Dwight
Eisenhower during World War
II to discuss the North Africa
campaign.
After a successful first day
at the trade fair Rowan and
Conor were taken to visit the
building site which will soon
become a new office building
and showroom for AJ Power
generators as well as other
products marketed by CIT.
Thursday morning was an early
start, beginning with a 5 hour
journey to the town of Mascara
to oversee the installation of
two new AJ Power generating
sets; an AJ138 AGCO powered
set located at a construction
site, and a Scania AJ500 at a

On Saturday Rowan and
Conor were shown the sights
in Algiers by Souad Ait Si
Mammar, of CIT’s sales and
marketing department. After a
drive round the city and the hills
overlooking the bay, they took
a guided tour of the Casbah,
an historical, walled section of
the city with lots of interesting
buildings and little cobbled
alleyways. This was followed by
a tour of a beachfront palace
and a trip to the Jardins d’essai,
the botanical gardens which
was the filming location for the
old Tarzan movies in the 1930’s.
The thoroughly enjoyable day
was finished off with a trip
to the Maqam Echahid, the
Martyrs Monument dedicated
to all those who lost their lives
serving their country in various
conflicts over the years.

AJ POWER FACTORY
NEW PRODUCTION TRACKS
Construction
is now nearly
complete on our
new 3 station test
cell within the
main production
facility
T
he new state of the art test
cells are serviced by two
fully automated production
lines that will ensure the
AJ Power production facilities are
at the forefront of generating set
production efficiency for many
years to come.
This long term investment will
increase the production capacity
of 33-275kVA models by over
25% per year over the current
capacity.
Incorporated in the new test cells
will be a dedicated ‘Research and
Design Station’ where engineers
can carry out research in an “off
line” scenario. The “R&D” line
will be serviced by a selectable
production line dock, this
dock will form part of the new
production lines and will allow
for seamless filtering of gensets
between the R&D station and the
main production lines.
Simultaneous testing can also
be carried out at all 3 stations
ensuring the test cells aren’t
congested with projects/ special
option generating sets, that have
additional testing requirements.
