Manuel Antonio National Park
Manuel Antonio National Park is one of the most beautiful
touristic destinations of the country, with a high tourist rate
of national and international visitors because of its easy
access, biodiversity, and ecosystem. It’s known by being a
small “biological island” in the middle of a big area that is
used for other activities such as agriculture, cattle land, and

Isla del Caño Biological Reserve
Caño Island is a spectacular biological reserve located
some 20 km off the coast of Península de Osa.
It’s considered one of the best scuba diving points in the
world because of an excellent visibility under its blue
waters. The visitor may observe wonderful coral reefs, sea
turtles, dolphins, manta rays, eels, barracudas, tuna, and
other species swimming among a great variety of sharks
and humpback whales.
Besides of the geographic and biological importance of the
island, it also has an archeological relevance for being a
burial ground that dates from the pre-Columbus era. One
of the historical evidences is the presence of hand -made
and perfectly round stone spheres found in the site.
Activities:
• Boat trip through the Sierpe-Terraba canals.
• Seek and observation of dolphins and whales.
• Visit to Caño Island biological reserve.

Arenal National Park
Arenal Volcano is without a doubt the main
attraction of the area; it is one of the 10 most
active volcanoes in the world. Arenal Volcano
has an altitude of 1663 meters above sea
level. It was considered inactive for a log time
until 1968 when it made a sudden and strong
eruption that destroyed a whole town. After a
calm period, the volcano returned to activity in
1981 and since then it hasn’t ceased. The
National park is considered an important
hydrological resource because it feeds the
Arenal Lagoon, which is used to produce
hydroelectric energy.
Activities:
• Visit to Arenal Volcano National Park.
• Travel by the “Coladas” path.
• Walk on the Arenal hanging bridges.
• Visit to the hot spring waters of Baldi.

Venado Caves
The Caves are 3 km. East of the town of Venado that is a 30 minutes
drive from La Fortuna de San Carlos, North East of Costa Rica. It is
known that the entrance to the caves was discovered in 1962 and the
caves date from the Mycenaean period (15 to 20 million years ago). For a
long time, they were submerged in the depths of the ocean but, due to
tectonic plaque activity, they emerged to the surface. They are mostly
constituted of limestone, stalactites, stalagmites, and corals, also by
accidental rock formations product of the erosive action of the
underground river that flows through them.
Activities:
• Visit to the Venado Caves.
• Two hours walk in the caves with local guide. The gear to enter the caves
(helmet and masks) is provided by the tour operator.
