Can you smell Autumn in the air yet? As much as we don’t
want to see Summer end, it looks and feels like it will be
gone before too much longer. It has been a fun-filled summer for all of us this year, with so many events happening
that it was difficult to attend them all. Our community is full
of organizations and groups, along with school children, and
fund raising clubs that keep events of all kinds available for
all of us to attend and enjoy. These events serve an
important purpose, in that it brings everyone closer together and also gets us
out of our daily routine, making our lives a little more interesting.
It will not be too much longer until our schools are again in session and we will
see those yellow school buses running up and down the roads, so watch for our
children as they board, or depart from the buses. And, of course, we will have
more events to attend at our schools. So, let’s support the kids by attending
their sports and school events. Hopefully, this will help the students to become
responsible adult citizens when they finish their time with school and are out on
their own, creating communities that are safe and full of happy people.
Thank You!

Summer is almost coming to an end, whether we are ready for it to, or not. It seems like it was
just yesterday we started planning for summer events. However, we still have quite a few
events coming before the end of the year. One of the largest events has just finished; the Airshow of the Cascades and it was a huge success. A big ‘Thank You’ to all the Volunteers
that helped to make it the best show yet! Another fast growing and very successful event that
just finished was the Crawdad Festival in Culver. This year was their largest turn out of parade entries and spectators along with serving over 700 pound of Crawdads!
Upcoming events are the Metolius Spike & Rail; Halloween Merchant’s Costume Contest;
Kiwanis’ Octoberfest; MAC Dash; Buff Booster’s Crab Feed; Veteran’s Day Parade;
Canyon Rumble Frozen Half; Chamber’s Christmas Lights Parade & Santa, just to name a few. There is
always something going on in Jefferson County!
The upcoming Annual Chamber Community Awards Banquet on September 15th will be held at the Erickson
Aircraft Collection. Our theme for this year is “Celebrating 70 Years of Water”, recognizing the value of the
North Unit Irrigation District’s water distribution system to our local agriculture industry. We are anticipating
a large attendance surrounding this year’s event and our table sponsors will be theming their table around
water. A presentation will be given by NUID representatives showing photos highlighting the project in the early
days to present. My preliminary viewing of some of these photos astounded me in the complexity and scope of
building the canal system.
From your nominations, our Community Awards Banquet showcases and honor the people from our communities
who have been chosen to receive awards for their dedication in five categories. Which are: Volunteer of the
Year, Business of the Year, Senior Citizen of the Year, Public Servant of the Year and Community Champion of the
Year. Be sure to make your reservation to attend the banquet, so you will be able to congratulate the folks that
are honored. Contact Helen at the Chamber Office 541.475.2350 or by Email [email protected]
“Chamber’s Wandering Mystery Camera Clip”…
See last month’s Clip on Page 7 in Member Spotlight.
Congratulations to Lance Handsaker owner of The Cabinet Shop for the lucky draw of the Mystery Camera Clip in the
August Newsletter. Good Luck to you in your quest of finding the Mystery Clip in this month’s issue.
The “Wandering Mystery Camera Clip” will be a picture of part of a member’s business, or a place, which will be located somewhere in or close to Jefferson County. We may or may not, give a hint each time, where the business or place
is located. Our purpose is that you are more aware of what and where our member businesses are located. When you
look at the photo in the newsletter and recognize
the place of business, call us with the name and
location of the business or place featured.
The first 10 caller’s names will be put in a pot &
the winner will be drawn from those names for the
free business card ad in next month’s Newsletter.
We will announce the winner in our next
month’s newsletter.
Our “Wandering Mystery Camera Clip” business
this month is a great place to visit and get a good
rest or have a fun event to attend….hmmm???

Hello Chamber Members!
This is Loren from Mail, Copies & More, located in that building where a lot of you used to buy
fishing worms. Mail, Copies & More opened in 1997 and we have enjoyed your patronage ever
since.
We are a UPS and Fed Ex authorized shipping outlet with daily pick up. We can ship anything.
Well almost anything. Don't have a box? Fahgettaboutit, we have a wide assortment of shipping
boxes to fix whatever it may be.
Printing services available include graphic design, business cards, envelopes, letterhead, mutli
-part forms, labels, brochures, wide format color prints, blueprinting, scanning, vehicle lettering
and magnets. Need a banner? Got you covered. Indoor or, full color vinyl banners in every size
you can imagine. We can make you lawn signs, aluminum signs, plastic signs, back lit signs.
Office supplies for your home or office. Ink, toner, printer paper, thermal paper for you POS system, or whatever you
need to keep running. Free delivery to your office, unless you want to escape your office for a few minutes, we
understand.
People often ask me, "What is the 'More''? Well, there have been a lot of, um, colorful, suggestions as to what that
could include, but that is a Business After Hours conversation. What I can say is the "More" is whatever you need it to
be. Need to scan and email something, we do that. Need help bring a heavy package from your car, we do that. Need
to drop off a prepaid package to be shipped, we do that. Need to rent a mailbox so you can retire and RV full time, yea,
we do plenty of that too. Need to send a fax, you get the idea. BTW, did I mention we make copies? No? We make
copies here.
As a business and as a community member, we at Mail, Copies & More understand the importance of being involved
in the community. That is we are volunteer time or services to youth athletic coaches, Rotary International, Airshow of
the Cascades, 4th of July celebration, Jefferson County Fair, Madras High School Buff Boosters, not to mention many
local raffles and auctions.
Feel free to stop by anytime for any project you may need help with or to simply give us a hard time. Your friendly
MCM/OE Crew!
Thank you for your continued support and let's have some fun in 2016!! Cheers!
