Our students’ successes would not have been
possible without the involvement and support of
parents. I am truly grateful and appreciative of the
support and commitment of parents and
community stakeholders this year.
I also extend my appreciation to our dedicated
staff for their continued excellent work and
commitment.
Yours in success
Mr. Arnold Potma
Vice-Principal
Last week, the students and staff celebrated
Robarts’ 39th birthday with a barbeque lunch. It is
hard to believe that next year we will be looking at
Robarts 40th celebration which is truly a milestone.
We can look back on the school year 2012-13 as
a year of successes. The Bilingual – Biliteracy
project implemented this year in the Kindergarten
and Primary grades has shown promising results in
increasing student literacy. We have started
Fountas-Pinnell testing administered by the
classroom teachers, and plan to continue next year
on regular intervals. The data will assist teachers in
developing reading strategies for each student with
the goal of increased comprehension skills. Our
“We Day” event in November and the follow
up events at school have been very effective,
increasing global citizenship and awareness in
supporting our global neighbours.
We look forward to a visit on Tuesday, June 18 by
Marcel Labelle, a Metis gentleman, who will work
with our students in building mini birch bark
canoes using 100 percent bush materials as part of
our Aboriginal Day events.
Staff are busy planning the graduation of five Grade
8 students: Wesley, Dante, Robert, Seth and Brady
and wish them every success in high school this fall.
We also look forward to celebrating with our
students and their families on our Annual Awards
Day on Wednesday, June 26 at 9:30 a.m. Parents
are welcome to attend this event.

Library News
The Library has been a very busy place since
January. There have been many new book orders
and newly catalogued books. We’ve celebrated
Education Week and organized a successful Deaf
Artists’ Biographies and their Artwork Display and
ASL-phabet Art activity among other things.
Please take advantage of the excellent (and free!)
summer reading programs at your local library this
summer. They offer many free activities and events
as well as lots and lots of books. For more
information, check out your local library website.
Have a healthy, happy, and safe summer filled with
great books!

Our classroom Knights
A Wonderful Learning Experience
The day began with a Knights’ jousting
demonstration and sword fight! Our class
Queen Megan was chosen to sit with the
“royality” at the front of the stadium. She
represented Robarts well.
King Ethan loved every minute of the
demonstration and cheered enthusiastically
for our Knight to win. He did win 
