CROSS-COUNTRY SKIER ANDRUS VEERPALU
Andrus Veerpalu (born 8 February 1971 in Pärnu) is a former and so far the most successful
Estonian male cross country skier. On 17 February 2006 Veerpalu won his second Winter
Olympics gold medal (in 15 km cross country skiing; his previous gold medal is from the Salt
Lake City games), becoming the fourth Estonian to have won two Olympic gold medals. He is the
most successful Olympic athlete from Estonia with three medals.

Baruto Kaito (born 5 November 1984 as Kaido Höövelson) is a former professional sumo
wrestler from Estonia. Making his debut in May 2004, he was one of only two Estonians ever
to join the sport in Japan, and the first to reach the top division, which he achieved after just
two years in sumo in May 2006.

Gerd Kanter (born 6 May 1979) is an Estonian discus thrower. He was the 2007 World Champion
in the event and won the gold medal at the 2008 Summer Olympics, and bronze in London 2012.
His personal best throw of 73.38 m is the Estonian record and the third best mark of all-time.

Nikolai Novosjolov (born 9 June 1980) is an Estonian fencer, a two-time world champion in men's
épée, winning gold at the 2010 World Championships in Paris and the 2013 World Championships
in Budapest.
Julia Beljajeva (born 21 July 1992) is an Estonian épée fencer, 2013 world champion and 2014 team
world silver medallist.

Rasmus Mägi (born 4 May 1992) is an Estonian hurdler. At the 2012 Summer Olympics, he
competed in the Men's 400 metres hurdles without qualifying for the semifinals. His biggest
success today is the silver medal at the 2014 European Championships where he broke Estonian
national record with 48,54. Rasmus was Estonia's best athlete in 2014

Heiki Nabi (born 6 June 1985, in Hilleste, Hiiumaa, Estonia) is an Estonian wrestler. At the 2006
World Wrestling Championships he won the gold medal in the men's Greco-Roman 96 kg weight
category. At the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, Nabi won the silver medal in the Men's GrecoRoman 120kg. At the 2013 World Wrestling Championships Nabi won the gold medal in 120kg
weight category.

TRACK BICYCLE RACER ERIKA SALUMÄE
Erika Salumäe was born in Pärnu on 11 June 1962. Erika is an Estonian track bicycle racer who won
the first Olympic gold medal for Estonia after the country regained its independence in 1991. As of
2014 she remains as the only Estonian female medallist at the Summer Olympics after getting their
independence.

DECATHLETE ERKI NOOL
Erki Nool, born in Võru on 25 June 1970, was deemed to be Estonia's best athlete in the years 19961998, and in 2000. He was the European Indoor heptathlon champion in 1996. He is the Estonian
record holder in the decathlon, the 200m, and the long jump. In 2000, Erki Nool was the decathlon
gold medalist at the Summer Olympics in Sydney.
