allie and Tim Halls always dreamed of raising
their family in a charming Victorian-style home
where friends and family would always be
welcome. In 1998, their vision became reality after Agape
Construction built their original home.

Over the years, the Halls continued to trust Agape with their
remodel projects. In 2001, Agape converted part of the
attic into a finished office. In 2006, Agape built a beautiful
2-story addition. A hearth room, sun room and half bath
were added to the first floor, and a greatly expanded master
bath, closet and laundry room on the second floor.
In 2014, Tim & Callie once again teamed up with Agape to
expand and transform their home to better fit their family’s
changing needs.

This multifaceted project included a beautiful new
pool house, as well as a two story addition and
remodel of the original home.
The new 520 sq. ft. stylish but functional pool house
repurposes the Halls’ old kitchen cabinets, microwave
and dishwasher. Guests can enjoy the custom, builtin banquette and the convenience of a full bath.
Dripping bathing suits and wet feet won’t be an issue
with a polished concrete floor and chairs and couches
protected with outdoor, weather-resistant slipcover fabric.

“All the inviting conversation and gathering areas
throughout the entire house—kitchen, living
room, family room, pool house—let a guest know
they are welcomed to relax, sit and visit. The two
girls’ bedrooms show off little things about their
personalities and interests. Tim’s new music room
on the third floor is a perfect place for him to play
whenever he’s in the mood,” said Callie.

Remodeled Living Area
Cozy Breakfast Room
The freshly expanded kitchen is a central hub and opens to the
dining room, new breakfast area and family room. “When I’m
working in my new kitchen, I feel warm and happy,” said Callie.
Updates include a bar, glazed cabinetry, stainless steel hood and
Cambria countertops in contrasting colors.
The Halls also decided to expand their home’s second floor—
transforming it from three bedrooms and two baths into four
bedrooms and four baths. A sitting area and larger laundry / craft
area enhance the second floor’s livability.

All the decorating details—including the stylish living
room décor, pool house’s homey appeal, the girls’
bedrooms and baths were the creation of Joy Tribout
Interior Design. A custom artist gave each bathroom
its own personality, and added a whimsical feel to the
pool house with hand-painted crabs.
Agape’s Master Carpenter, Chris Gagnon, crafted
custom built-ins to die for: a window seat with
bookshelves in one of the girl’s bedrooms, built-in
chest of drawers, the pool house banquette and more.
Dreams really do come true, just ask the Halls.

Architect & Designer Award finalist, is
delighted with her forever home.

Agape created a private first floor master suite
by reconfiguring space, creating a new front
vestibule and enlarging the bathroom.
The kitchen was also expanded and features a
granite-topped island and lighted glass front
cabinets. Remodeling the rear entry included
borrowing space above the basement stairs, thus
providing a feature wall for eye-catching art. Adding
6 feet to the rear also allowed for a laundry area.
Agape seamlessly blended new architectural
details with the original historic cottage. The rear
addition compliments with 3 overlapping gables
and an attractive blend of stucco, brick and siding.

Beautiful Woodwork by the Master
C
hris Gagnon, Agape’s Master Carpenter and Built-In
Specialist, is an integral part of Agape’s design-build
process and utilizes his talents to aid Agape’s designers
and clients. He creates beautiful custom woodwork pieces that fit
perfectly with the overall vision for the project.
Chris attended Ranken Technical Institute, trained under other
skilled carpenters, and operated his own freelance millwork
business before joining Agape full-time. Thanks to this experience,
Chris definitely understands how to work within a budget.
Chris gives Agape’s clients the benefit of custom wood-crafted
pieces forged from scratch, instead of pre-made units that lack a
unique touch. He turns unused areas into highly functional spaces.
Beyond working with Agape, Chris enjoys sharpening his carpentry
skills by experimenting with new artistic mediums including
chainsaw carving and drywall sculpture.
Chris can really help put the final touches on any remodel project with
built-in cabinetry, fireplace mantles, custom
furniture, bookcases, banquettes and more.

attend St. Louis At Home Magazine’s
Architect & Designer award ceremony
for the 5th year in a row. Awards are given for
projects of architectural merit throughout the
St. Louis area. It was a thrilling evening of fine
food and awards presentations. Our design team,
project consultants, and winning clients were all
in attendance.
As mentioned earlier in this newsletter, Agape
client Ann Apprill, received a Finalist award for
her cottage’s Historic Renovation project. Several
new additions made her living space more
functional while retaining the original charm.
