President’s Report: (Beth Lundrigan)
1. Tammy Field has resigned her position as Member at Large. According to the by-laws,
the board will appoint a person to step forward and fill her position. Joe Crawford will
step up as co-president for the next two months.
2. Committee chairs for the 2016-2017 are filled except for the following: Fall Dance,
Family Fun Night, and Conference Dinners.
3. Listed below is the proposed budget for the 2016-2017 school year, provided by Jackie
Parris. Please note the following as you look over the proposed budget:
7
o The following is a list of proposed additional budget items:
1. addition of anti-bullying line
2. addition of care for each other line
3. addition of art/STEAM supplies line
4. addition of 5th grade band line
5. addition of student club line
6. increase Critters and Co budget expense line (K-3rd)
7. discussion to reallocate money away from teacher allowance to put
towards these additional line items
8
4. The board will not be voting on the budget tonight, as this will be sent out to all the
parents next week. This gives parents time to see the proposed budget. At the April PTO
9
meeting, the board will finalize the budget. The board will vote on the following items
via email prior to the April PTO meeting:
o Take out Art Enrichment line (art will be an added specialist due to the levy) and
increase the specialist line to $1,500.00 to now include band, art, as well as
existing specialists. At a later date, the board will provide a one time start up gift
to band and art. This will help provide additional resources these new teachers
may have their first year at EVE. STEAM will be moving to the 3rd grade team
area in the mobile room; there may be additional needs for STEAM as well.
o Increase grade level supplements to $6,000.00 and Special ed supplement to
$1,000.00.
o Increase guidance budget to $500.00. $300.00 would go toward Ms. Vaughn and
$200.00 would go towards purchasing materials to be passed out to students for
anti-bullying purposes.
o LNHS scholarship. Increase it to $1,000.00 and award two $500.00 scholarships
to EVE alumni.
o Increase student council budget to $1,000.00 to cover either club or council
stipend.
o Keep Critters and Co amount the same for now. Board may vote to increase this
amount if another program is suggested at a later time.
5. April 1st is the deadline for teachers to spend their grade level supplements.
Principal’s Report: (Taber Akin)
1. The 5th graders typically do an art project that becomes permanent and is displayed
somewhere within EVE. Last year, a permanent art project was not completed.
2. Raku was brought up as a potential project, but does not seem to be a good fit for a 5th
grade permanent art project. It was said by a member of the board that the Raku project
was not intended to be for just the 5th graders, but for a school wide project. Since we
already have art residencies lined up for all the grade levels, EVE will not be able to
complete the Raku art project.
3. We need ideas for the 5th graders permanent art project. It was suggested to do something
for the front entryway.
