Welcome
Welcome to the first edition of Dangerous Times, our very
own music and entertainment magazine designed to keep
our Artists, Clients and Fans up to date with all that’s
happening in Sounds Dangerous and the global market
place. We’ll be using this ‘mag’ to broadcast the success of
our Artists and to interact with our Clients and Fans. We’ll
also let you, our readers, be the first to know of any new
Artist releases and any exciting news within the developing
trends of music licensing, digital sales, streaming and
general studio production.
we are...
...an eclectically talented team of creators, coders, marketeers, ‘suits’ and sellers that are based in Hollywood with
additional offices in Sydney (Australia) and in Kreuzlingen
(near Zurich Switzerland). Our goal is to monetize the talents
and content of our Artists and assist our Clients and Fans to
find better music for their projects and/or ‘ipods’. And so
while we have been busy building the infrastructure to
manage the whole process, as you can see by our toothy
and colorful web portal, we want the search and discovery
process to be fun!
What you see today is the result of much brain and brawn, a
collective 100 years of experience in film, television, advertising
and music production, and 12 months of testing, breaking and
reinventing the web portal. We have designed the process to be
fluid and we expect that we will be improving the system in the
months to come. But as of today, December 7th, all the important bits work and we’re opening our cyber doors for business.
the music industry in transition
Once upon a time commercial radio held the
music industry to ransom being, apart from
a live performance, the only direct promotional link to music fans. If a label
wanted to promote its recording
artists to a national audience it
needed to entice the support of
both the local and national radio
stations.
This
often
required
‘payola,’ the illegal practice of
payment or other inducement by
record companies to secure
the
broadcast
of
their
artist’s recordings on music
radio.
Then came MTV, which had an
immediate and profound impact on
both the music industry and
popular culture in general with
slogans such as "I want my MTV"
becoming embedded in everyday
language.
The concept of the ‘VJ’ was
popularized, the idea of a
dedicated video-based outlet
for music was introduced,
and the labels and fans of
popular music found a
central location for music
and industry news and
promotions.
During the 80’s and 90’s the music industry relied heavily
upon the promotional capacities of both radio and
television to reach the masses.
These were heady times for the labels because they
owned the content, and for the most part decided on which
recording artists were promoted and what music the fans
could discover and/or purchase from their local music
store. Then came the internet and the music industry was
turned on its head.
Since the launch of the iTunes store in 2003 and YouTube
in 2005 there has been a revolution in the music industry,
stripping the distribution monopoly from the major record
labels, diluting the influence of music radio and MTV while
giving the independent artist a voice and the platform to
promote and sell product to a global market. Fans too
began discovering new music, new ways to both listen to
and share music as well as interact with their favorite
artists via social media networks such as Facebook and
Twitter.
The music industry is still in transition. Music fans are
more sophisticated now than ever before and want to play
more than just a passive role in the music industry.
While the major labels have been dethroned, the many
thousands of independent artists, (with more than 7,000
on MySpace alone), still need the marketing and
distribution savvy of a music portal. And this, in part, is how
and why we came up with the Sounds Dangerous concept.
While we are not solving every problem facing the indie
artist we will work towards a better system of monetizing
the Artist’s music and/or production services. And we
believe there is a global market of Clients and Fans ready
and waiting for new music and/or a re-discovery of music
and music makers lost in the mayhem of the major label
meltdown.

catalogue is full of original music and
songs from an eclectic group of
songwriters, composers, producers
and recording artists whose collective
work has featured on numerous hit TV
shows, tent-pole feature films, major
advertising campaigns and record
industry projects around the world.
Many of our Artists are successful
independent recording artists in their
own right while others are highly
respected music industry sound
engineers, music producers and
sound designers.
While music from the SD catalogue
has enjoyed hundreds of placements
in major network television and film
projects, our custom music production
services have also been utilized by
many leading recording artists, labels,
major and independent studios (both
film and TV) as well as advertising,
training and branding companies and
non-profit organizations.

At Sounds Dangerous we define Artists as anyone directly
involved in the creation and or production of audio content
such as Recording Artists (Solo or Group), Music Labels
and Publishers, Songwriters, Composers, Sound
Designers, Music Producers, Musicians, Singers and
Sound Engineers.
Sounds Dangerous is a sales, marketing and distribution
platform that helps Artists discover and then nurture
Fans/Clients towards multiple content revenue streams.
Using our Find Music 'Search and Retrieve Data Engine' we
can help each Artist break down all the key search elements
within a song, track or project to first construct and then
promote a unique content DNA to Fans and Clients
searching for similar content.
If you are a recording artist, label, songwriter and/or
composer and you own the rights to your publishing and
music tracks, Sounds Dangerous can partner with you to
promote, license and/or up-sell (write/produce for a specific
scene/project) your music to a global TV, Film, Advertising
and emerging Digital Media market.
If you are any of the above and/or a Music Producer, Studio
Engineer, Studio Musician, Singer or Sound Designer,
Sounds Dangerous can contract your services on a
work-for-hire basis on any of our Custom Music productions
and/or Client Productions.
We are always looking to partner with new Artists, if you are
interested to know more about the specific ways we can
work together, go to soundsdangerous.com/artists
Sounds Dangerous is very selective as to which Artists
‘make it’ into the catalogue and/or Custom Production
Team, however we encourage you to submit material
and/or resumes because...you never know...you may have
just what we are looking for.

new releases
Chris Falson
A funny thing happened
while Chris was helping to
build the ‘back end’ of the
Sounds Dangerous site.
The Making of a Man
A lot of ‘the guys’ were
randomly listening to tracks
from his catalogue and the
question would arise “What
album is this on?” And guess
what...many of the songs
were from film and TV
projects and had never been
released to ‘the public’.
Use Words if You Have To
And so with a bit of arm
twisting and some “I see the
Light moments”... Chris has
6 albums (with more to
come) which include over
100
non-commercially
distributed tracks.
And
we
are
proud
to
announce that all of these
albums are exclusive to
Sounds Dangerous.
Many of the songs have been featured in TV shows such
as “Without a Trace”, “Las Vegas”, “CSI Miami”, “Ed.”
One Moment
The follow up to The Quiet.
Ambient instrumentals in the vein of his previous
instrumental album “For Dreamers Only.”
Demolicious
Over 50 songs and counting. Most of these songs were
written for various American TV shows or recording
artists. To Chris these recordings are ‘good demos’, but
we thought they sounded great and so we twisted his
arm, had them remastered and put them in the SD store.
They are priced according to Chris’ reckoning of their
production quality. AND... he will be adding songs to this
album whenever he can. Crazy idea right?
Journey Man
This is the instrumental version of Demolicios. There is a
mixture of Blues, Jam, Pink Floydish, Larry Carlton
influenced music. Have a listen for yourself.
Party Music
This again is a collection of music pieces Chris has
written for various TV shows and films. It’s a bit like a mix
tape for a dinner party with fragrances of Jazz, Lounge,
Latin or Gringo Latin as Chris describes it, Spy music
and bar room blues. We are guessing that Chris will
keep adding to this collection as well.
