@Fairfield - Spring Term
Friday 27th April, 2012
Issue 321
From the Headmaster…….
Welcome to the start of the Summer Term which looks to be the wettest drought on record!!
Welcome back also to Miss Cooper who is reunited again with 5C after her maternity leave and
Mrs Mills who has taken over from Mrs Kembery. The wonderful news is that on 9th April, Mrs
Kembery gave birth to Hazel Ingra Elizabeth - a healthy 9lbs 2oz. Both mother and baby are
well.
Welcome to Jessica Garley, Indienne King and Imogen McQueen who started in Years 3 & 4,
respectively.
Thank you to Mr Smail and staff for taking a successful Year 6 trip to Pila and organising this
Easter’s Holiday Courses. Thank you also to Mr Osiatynski and staff for taking the Burton
Choristers on a successful trip to Norfolk…..with rave reviews.
Our Olympic Assemblies continued with Munich 1972 led by 4B this morning. Well done and
thank you.
Our new website was launched during the Easter Holidays - any feedback please phone
Lesley Jones on 01509 283808.
Good luck to Year 6 next week who take part in the PGL trip to Caythorpe Court, Lincolnshire.
I hope that the weather is kind to them.

Made it to Everest Base Camp!
Expedition tents at Base Camp
I MADE IT!!!
A huge thank you for all your sponsorship to Dogs for the Disabled. It certainly spurred me on to
complete my trek to Everest Base Camp during the Easter break.
I trekked between 6 – 9 hours per day in temperatures ranging from 25 degrees in the day to
minus 20 degrees at night. Above 5000m, altitude sickness became very strenuous, causing my
heart to race like a steam train and also causing an overwhelming feeling of nausea.
Nevertheless, the scenery and landscape was spectacular and I can liken the atmosphere at
Base Camp to what I imagine it to be on the moon. A very tough, but rewarding experience and
I’m extremely thankful that, together, our efforts will help people who are less fortunate than us.
If you would like to donate, please follow the link below. Many thanks once again. Miss Carter.

Friday, 6th April Alicia and Olivia Middleditch (5C and 5B) went from this…
…..to this!
It was the first time Justine and Daniel had ever cut hair for the Little Princess Trust. The Charity
receives donations for wigs for children with cancer. We are very grateful to the two stylists, of
Keith Hall, Loughborough, for the extra time they spent cutting the girl’s hair as specified by the
Trust.
Olivia was just able to make the minimum length required at 17cm, but Alicia was able to send
off 30cm!! They are now hoping that it will be used to make some sick child feel really good
about themselves and encouraged that other people care about them.
Olivia and Alicia would now like you to help their donation go as far as possible by sponsoring
them in this project.
